I did the opposite of you. I had the 15 Pro Max and went with the iPhone 16 Pro this year, since the 15 PM was already quite large and kind of heavy. I also didn't like the extra weight in my pants pocket. Since both phones have the same camera features this year, it was an easy choice for me.
Congrats on the new phone man. With the microphones I can tell that the midrange from your recording sounds a little more full. I'm not sure if Apple is using new microphones, but it sounds like they are adding stereo imaging Fx, and adding other algorithms into the audio pipeline.

I have a iPhone 12 mini and love it so I’m bummed that they discontinued the minis and I’ll have to adjust to carrying around a mini iPad in my pockets with this upgrade to the 16.
I have the 12 mini as well. On part of me tells me to just get a new battery for it, the other parts wants a phone that I can use without constantly worrying about battery percentages. I am torn.
If he really wants to get Louise to upgrade what he should do is keep the 16 pro max and “accidentally” do something to the 15 Pro Max that makes it unsellable, but still usable, such as gouging the side rail.

I am currently using the 15 pro Max and I have tried the 16 pro Max which I am very disappointed. 1. The camera control is very confusing and hard to use. Everything the button can do you can do it easier on the screen. The most stupid thing is that you have to long press the button and cannot release it for taking video for example if you have to take a video for 30 seconds and you have to hold 30 seconds for taking the video. 2. All the Apple Intelligence function are not available yet which I felt Apple is very rushed this time and I think that they should postpone the release to October which they have done it in iPhone 12 and it’s no big deal but it’s better to launch a “complete” phone. 3. Maybe they’re only great thing about the 16th pro Max is the battery and the processor with more efficiency and endurance.
compared the mic to your previous video and whilst sounding different i'd definitely say it holds up well! the other one sounded a little direct, but thinner, it had more hi's, but it also distorted much easier. so overall a well balanced trade of features. since the 16 pro has ease of use on its side (big time) i'd say go for it! (it's like changing from your blackmagic to iphone - no one will actually care after a video or two, but on your end it'll be a huge deal, making the whole recording process much simpler and streamlined!)

Picked mines up and I had to drive 4 hours to pick up. Thats weird of Apple. Houston Texas had none to pick up on 20th. So I drove 4 hours to New Orleans. Never had that happen before. It might be selling more than most think, in America at least. It took an hour to pick up. They need a pick up and leave line. Many pick up and get taught the phone for 1 hour. smh 🤦🏾

It has little to do with the microphone itself. If you place the world's best pro mic 4 feet away from your mouth in an untreated room, it will sound like crap too. The only way to avoid this is to use AI to generate a new voice based on the recording you make.
@@80-80. not really how sound and microphones work. To my understanding Drew’s room is somewhat sound treated as well. And you can’t really use ”generative AI” to do that if the source material is bad. Best bet is to just have more microphones and use raytracing algos (like what RTX Voice uses) to isolate audio, and with multiple mics it’s easier to analyze and you can ”tune” where you want the sound to be grabbed from. But that still requires you to hope the algorythm can work with your soundspace well. Simply put, sometimes you just need a proper dedicated microphone. Very similar to how you can add as many cameras to a phone as you’d like, but due to the lens and sensor limitations, you can still tell often when something is recorded on a phone (without a ton of post effects)
Also as far as transferring the phone without Wifi. You can do it still. I set my 16 Pro up while driving around Philadelphia at work. The thing is you dont need the hotspot at all. You just set it up. The new phone will still set up without Wifi. Definitely pretty dope that is does that!!! I fully set my 16 Pro up outside. Doing it this way took 4 hours!! LMAOOO
