I would like to see you try and recreate what the special forces did in Vietnam with an SKS. They would load a squib round into the chamber of any weapons found in caches so that when the next enemy soldier would try and use it it would explode in their hands sending the bolt back into their face. You can actually find some stories from soldiers who would be on patrol hear a rifle shot only to find an enemy soldier with the bolt in him dead from that round doing it’s job. Would be pretty cool with a zombie head behind it.
Just a thought, but ballistic dummy labs makes ballistic gel hands too. It would be cool if you got on of those to put in the trigger guard along with the head that is behind the rifle. It would be interesting to see what damage is done to the hand. Especially the way the 300 win mag jettisoned the fire control group. Great video as always Scott!
I totally agree with you on that and I said pretty much the same thing. Great minds think alike. Good thoughts actually run deep. Hands and arms in the shooting position would be great. They would take more of a beating than the head. My guess. I hope Scott reads this!
Many years ago, I was standing directly behind somebody who had a catastrophic explosion of a firearm. He barely lived through it due to massive blood loss from the various injuries. He lost both eyes, his nose, most of his front teeth and the thumb on his Right hand. Hand and finger injuries are common when there is a catastrophic failure. Luckily, such failures are very, very rare!

In 40 plus years of shooting I had my first squib and luckily it was in a semi-auto .22 and I was using CCI Stingers. I figured that the round didn’t have powder and the force of primer forced bullet about an 1” into barrel. Not knowing I had a squib I shot again and I believe that the reason I had no damage was due to it being a semi-auto .22. Being that the bolt could move it allowed all of the pressure to escape. I’m glad all it gave me was a headache and I didn’t have to thumb any holes. This just happened this past Wednesday. Great video!
😂 the lads “product placements”🤣🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻 well played Scott and fair play on the safety and awareness series for the info and demonstration Hope your able to continue showing catastrophic failures from the safety aspect and get people jumping on to support this series

Thanks for the laughs and great videos as always and I hope that all is well with you and the whole Kentucky Ballistics family. 🙏🙏🍻 Edit: It's incredible and terrifying to see such experiments honestly. Sure it's in a controlled environment and you're doing it on purpose but it's crazy to see how many pieces that exploded into. Why taking firearms safety in every way possible is so damn important!. Your situation was a freak accident and why I'm so greatful/thankful that you're still with is today 🙏🙌.. Anyways thank you again Scott for doing these experiments and I'll see you on the next one brother.
The fact that you managed to decide to continue to test what gun explosion can do is commendable, not many would continue if they're the direct victim of such a catastrophic failure. You sir, deserve respect.
I'm kind of curious what a .22lr would do with an extra spicy round. I'm sure it wouldn't be as energetic as this or your .50, but then again, the gun won't be as durable either so maybe the lower cartridge side and the smaller gun would balance out to similar destruction,
Depends on the action. My dad's buddy would reload .22's as a kid and he called them stingers decades ago. He tried for a long shot with one of his hot rounds and blew the bolt out the back of the action. More recently I had an out of battery in a .22 and the bullet lodged three inches into the barrel. The case was very mangled. The next round bulged the inside of an 1.25" bull barrel where the stuck bullet was. I didn't notice anything too crazy when I shot it but it wasn't very accurate after that.
Could be awesome to see the Tikka T3x Tac A1 .308 or the CZ557 Varmint .308 :) Scott you rock big time. Love the way you have recovered, and just continues making great stuff. Stay safe

Would be interesting to see a .308 win in a rifle chambered for .270. I was at a range when someone did something similar with their rifle. The results were ... loud.
Love how you have taken your experience and turned it into such an awesome series, keep up the good work. I would love to see something along the lines of a bullpup having a failure like this, maybe a Keltec RFB or something a little bigger? To that extent how about a shotgun?
Videos like this always reminds me and make me feel good for continuing to watch and support you for all the months it took for you to recover from your accident
The fact you don't have PTSD from the gun explosion near death experience, let alone purposely detonating more guns really comes as a surprise... What would we do without ya Scott? One of a kind.
Hey Scott, could you test the internet rumor that a 5.56 rifle can fire .223 rounds all day, but firing 5.56 rounds in a .223 can damage the rifle? I read that since there's more powder in the 5.56 that it could damage a rifle designed for a less spicy round.
Maybe it could I think there isn't too much that would happen. Popped primer maybe, I mean I wouldn't go only feeding a .223 rifle 5.56 but it wouldn't damage a rifle if it was sparingly.
Dude, love your content! You could say it's explosive! Stay safe though, you won't always be able to put a thumb in it! Love that you included all your boys! Keep it up!
Scott, I look forward to seeing what you can do with this new series. Life gave you eggplants and you've made baba ganoush. As far as a suggestion for the series, it might be smaller than your first two, but what about pistols? Could a Glock fail this spectacularly? Or a 1911? Would it need to be something massive like a .454 or .50AE?
My thoughts exactly! although it wouldn't have been as eventful with a spicy round, I'm pretty sure that gun would have blown up with a normal Loaded round in an obstructed Barrel with another round lodged in it. After a barrel has been obstructed like that, any gun becomes a pipe bomb.
Nice one dude, awesome video. I know your still a bit cautious about blowing the guns up and recreating your experience over the .50 cal incident ( who wouldn’t be???) but it’s great to see you plow through this stuff and reach new objectives. Thank you bro. God speed stay safe
This is a really useful comparison for how well both the Serbu (in particular) and the Barrett did. This just atomized, and there was little apparent damage to the barrel. The 50. Cals seemed to better contain their energy, with more being put into breaking the weapon instead of just flying apart.
You want more breaking apart. The more pieces that fly away, the less energy is left over to be focused into a single set of parts. That's what made the Serbu in particular so dangerous. Most of the firearm generally held together which meant that most of the weapon was fairly strong and it focused all of the energy into the weak points of the threaded cap and the thin flanges securing that cap as a "safety feature." That same safety feature which almost killed him. If you ever see an F1 car crash, you'll notice that it looks like it explodes in a crash with body pieces everywhere. This is by design. It's how something going so fast can have some pretty nasty crashes which allows the driver to most of the time, walk away in one piece. The pieces breaking away carry with them the energy put into them which is less energy transferred to the driver. This is what makes old cars so dangerous. Their nearly all-steel construction meant that they held up pretty well but instead they ended up just transferring all of that energy to the soft squishy bits on the inside instead. We have now crumple zones and bodywork designed to break apart and fall off now instead of full steel bumpers and the like.
@@scottashe984 The concepts of energy management aren't though. That part completely went over your head. The F1 is an example of designing to prevent as much energy from the outside and the current situation from reaching the vulnerable driver in the middle of it. I don't know what you mean by "build it so it doesn't fall" as that literally makes no sense in this context. Modern gun designs do the same thing. They're designed so that in the event of a catastrophic failure, as much energy as possible is directed AWAY from the shooter and not into the shooter via life ending shrapnel. We've seen this in many catastrophic failures of many modern weapons. Usually the shooter is just fine, it's just their underwear gets a bit heavier. Usually the exploding weapon is more of a hazard to those near and around the shooter than the shooter themselves.
While this is a cool series, I'd love to see you start with a slight over pressure round and go up from there to the "super spicy" round you know will blow it
Scott, as a 300wm reloader (H1000 and IMR4831!) I would love to know what kind of powder charge you put in that spicy round. It had to have been pistol powder or a really fast rifle powder, even with the squib, no?
You should come join the weatherby fan club, upgrade from that win mag :) I'm thinking that, in addition to faster powder, perhaps ground up in a ball mill? I know that I can tell the difference between normal grain and ssc of imr 7828. Greater surface area, faster combustion. Maybe with like a light 105% volume compression load. Enough to add more, but not compress it back into a single pellet. Add a tight crimp in fire formed brass that has only been neck sized... It probably helps if the rifle doesn't have any freebore.
I was wondering the same thing. I’d like to see him test just how much of a hot load does it take to blow up normal deer/elk rifles. I’m sure all of the handloaders watching this channel would appreciate it!
Thanks for listening to the hunting rifle suggestion! It just comes to show that even everyday hunting rifles are NO joke. Literally a slip up with jamming the barrel while hunting can cost you you're life in a millisecond!
Hey Scott, love your channel!! Great seeing you fully recovered from that .50BMG blow up. Now, here‘s a Blow-up challenge from across the pond: Blaser R93. Would be pretty cool with a zombie head behind it.
madlad took nearly dying and turned it into some of the best content he's put out so far. thank God and thank Vanderbilt. cheers Scott
LOL Scott!!! Your face at 6:30 when you found the barrel was like a kid on Easter finding the last egg 🤣😂🤣😂
@@darrellcook8253 thank you Darrell! What made me think of it was thinking back to Scott's injuries when his rn 50 blew up. I really hope he does it too. I think it would be interesting results.
@@floridagunrat1625 who yeah he is lucky to be alive for sure. I'm glad failures like this are rare but the results are very interesting in a controlled environment.
Every time I see one of these catastrophic failure videos I have vicarious PTSD of what happened to you Scott… you are a madman.
Yeah well maybe someday he'll show us the scars and talk about any lingering issues with the whole thing including getting over any PTSD related to the accident. Scotts the man.
I love how Scott went from 'taking explosion from .50 cal and survived' guy to 'I blow up .50 cals and other guns' guy.
Great video as always!
scott, as I've stated many times in past comment sections you're my favorite guntuber ,im ecstatic that you're still amongst the living...
also you better buy a lotto ticket with that luck brother!
this is such a great series, showing why safety is so important! thank you scott for sharing with us
I love the fact that all the gun channels have come together ❤️
All? It's just a few. You should get out more
@Faux Que should have said all the gun channels I watch lol. My bad
The target selection was epic 🙌😎
Great job Scott
In 40 plus years of shooting I had my first squib and luckily it was in a semi-auto .22 and I was using CCI Stingers. I figured that the round didn’t have powder and the force of primer forced bullet about an 1” into barrel. Not knowing I had a squib I shot again and I believe that the reason I had no damage was due to it being a semi-auto .22. Being that the bolt could move it allowed all of the pressure to escape. I’m glad all it gave me was a headache and I didn’t have to thumb any holes. This just happened this past Wednesday. Great video!
😂 the lads “product placements”🤣🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻 well played Scott and fair play on the safety and awareness series for the info and demonstration
Hope your able to continue showing catastrophic failures from the safety aspect and get people jumping on to support this series
He needed a Hickok45 product to really complete it.
This is great content, it really informative about how bad things can actually go and why safety is important but it's always fun along the way! Also, those are some great targets!
Always love what you come up with. Thank you for everything you do Scott. From the intros to the new high speed camera. Always a great show.. with one exception.. so grateful that you have kept up the great work.
The what are you doing in this tent really got me in the beginning 😂😂
Thanks for the upload Scott! Today marks an anniversary for something really depressing, and a video from you is exactly what I needed! Much love from your Kenfolk in PA!
Scott, I must’ve commented on a half a dozen videos to bring back the Tactical T Rex and you delivered!!! Love it man!! You’ve got well over two million subs and you still take the time to read and respond to comments. Amazing man!
Great to see you back on top Scott. You are as big/built as I ever remember. Keep rockin´.
I love the when guns go boom series! I’ve spent the past 2 hours watching your videos. I also love science. Physics is awesome
I about died when you said "got your nose". More great content as always. Thanks Scott.
The opening skits are awesome Scott please keep them coming along with of course the great content.. Thanks for the laughs and great videos as always and I hope that all is well with you and the whole Kentucky Ballistics family. 🙏🙏🍻
Edit: It's incredible and terrifying to see such experiments honestly.
By far my favorite series on TH-cam. This is both entertaining and helpful!
Love the series. Was fun to watch. Great video
The fact that you managed to decide to continue to test what gun explosion can do is commendable, not many would continue if they're the direct victim of such a catastrophic failure.
You sir, deserve respect.
Absolutely NAILED that table flip! I see you! As always, excellent work from the cameraman Scott Sr!
I'm depressed that he let it live. He's starting to get soft on us. And he didn't murder any eggplants.
That was a lot of fun! Absolutely loved the product line used for targeting
I'm very curious as well. I am thinking about getting a .22 LR for my daughter. But I want to know how bad it would be if something did happen.
Wow! Scott, your videos are blowing up every week.
Could be awesome to see the Tikka T3x Tac A1 .308 or the CZ557 Varmint .308 :)
Scott you rock big time. Love the way you have recovered, and just continues making great stuff.
Stay safe
Its amazing to see how far scott and his channel has come throughout the years!
Videos a few years ago, scott seems like a different person and is so much more tame and monotone compared to today.
His character arc is one of the greatest of all time on youtube.
I'm happy that i found your channel scott.
"Hopefully, we'll get this rifle to explode!" Only Scott would say that. Such a beautiful gun.
I love that my top suggestions for guntuber channels are just 4 or 5 guys quietly roasting each other.
Side note, loving this series. While reminding me why I don’t load my own ammo, it also freaks me out less
Who needs a can opener when you've got a rifle?
Would be interesting to see a .308 win in a rifle chambered for .270.
I was at a range when someone did something similar with their rifle. The results were ... loud.
Love how you have taken your experience and turned it into such an awesome series, keep up the good work. I would love to see something along the lines of a bullpup having a failure like this, maybe a Keltec RFB or something a little bigger? To that extent how about a shotgun?
Knock both out at the same time with a bullpup shotgun possibly.
I really like this series, keep up the good work
This is a good series Scott 👌 you might actually be saving lives showing people what not to do! Keep up the great work.
You know the round is super-spicy when even the scope gets sheared in half from the explosion.
This was a potent round, no doubts there 😅
I think Scott might bet the first person to start a series dedicated to blowing guns up.
Honestly with all of the things that Scott has shot, I’m surprised that the decaying remains don’t have a radiation output of nuclear waste.
Full auto 1k rounds worth
It's not a rumor. It's true that guns chambered in .223 shouldn't be firing 5.56. It's just going to make the rifle wear faster then usual.
Typical 5.56 have greater freebore, which aid’s pressure capabilities
"Improvise, adapt, overcome" would be the best way to describe this series.
7:52 my son fell over laughing
Dude, love your content! You could say it's explosive! Stay safe though, you won't always be able to put a thumb in it! Love that you included all your boys! Keep it up!
Oh man, the slo-mo is so good.
I’d love to see standard beginner AR or AK get a few Spivey rounds. I wonder which would hold up better?
Thank You! Thumbs up. I sujested it and you delivered. I know others did as well. Thank you Kentucky Ballistics. 🙏
Ooh, it would also be very interesting to see what happens to a revolver when faced with extra spicy loads.
An exploding Desert Eagle would be hilarious to witness honestly.
Hail Hydra?
@@resurgam_b7 Top strap goes wheeeeeee out into the air lol. Sometimes sharp bits of cylinder do too.
A 1911 full of hodgdon clays would be a grenade. 454 not needed.
Hoping this series keeps going, turned something terrible into something: Interesting, knowledgeable, and fun.
Love the series! Wondering what would've happened with just the spicy round, without the blockage!
This has become my fav series, ty!
Your easily the coolest guy on you tube👍🏻
Nice one dude, awesome video.
I know your still a bit cautious about blowing the guns up and recreating your experience over the .50 cal incident ( who wouldn’t be???) but it’s great to see you plow through this stuff and reach new objectives.
Thank you bro.
God speed stay safe
Scott is an absolute unit of a human being 😂
the mock product placement was spot on 200/10
You can actually see the scope flying way up high while you are sitting behind the truck.
5:23 look at the upper part of the windshield
@@Talishar Or you build it so that it doesn't fall. Being strapped inside an F1 and shooting a rifle are two different things.
Scott really out here throwing friendly shades at the other channels. I LOVE it!
Scott is slowly turning into the whistling diesel of the gun world lol great video.
You should come join the weatherby fan club, upgrade from that win mag :)
I'm thinking that, in addition to faster powder, perhaps ground up in a ball mill? I know that I can tell the difference between normal grain and ssc of imr 7828. Greater surface area, faster combustion. Maybe with like a light 105% volume compression load. Enough to add more, but not compress it back into a single pellet. Add a tight crimp in fire formed brass that has only been neck sized... It probably helps if the rifle doesn't have any freebore.
I was wondering the same thing. I’d like to see him test just how much of a hot load does it take to blow up normal deer/elk rifles. I’m sure all of the handloaders watching this channel would appreciate it!
I'm so happy those T-shirt made that much money and helped those poor people that lost their homes God bless you Scott and your family ✝️🙏🏼
Absolutely no one:
Scott: just casually hip fires a 300 win mag
Thanks for listening to the hunting rifle suggestion! It just comes to show that even everyday hunting rifles are NO joke. Literally a slip up with jamming the barrel while hunting can cost you you're life in a millisecond!
Why he have to pick a rifle I have ha ha I wonder if wood stock is better but I noticed that barrel was bouncing when he hit the crayon up close
your life*
It seems to me that you are planning to blow up every single gun that you have ever shot on this channel ?
Me:
F*ck YEAH I DEFENITELY WANNA SEE IT!!
Hey Scott, love your channel!! Great seeing you fully recovered from that .50BMG blow up.
Now, here‘s a Blow-up challenge from across the pond: Blaser R93. This rifle has the nickname „Witwenmacher“ (widow-maker) among German hunters. There were several blow ups (accidentally and/or on purpose) without it malfunctioning or any barrel obstruction. Wanna know how?
Greetings from Good old 🇩🇪...
I live in germany and own a Remington 783. But in .308. this Video makes me feel uncomfortable… :/
This video should be used in all firearms and hunters safety courses
