I understand everyone situation is different. Im regional and I work five days and I'm off 2 . For me bringing home on average 1300-1500 a week less than 6 months after I got my CDL is a blessing. This is only the beginning for me.
Whats good Anthony, I start CDL school Nov 25th. Attending Tampa Trucking School..3 week course. I was already hired to Stevens Transport...super excited...thanks for your volgs
To me good money is making more then what you were making at ur previous job. A Old Skoola once told me its not how much ya make but how much ya put back always keep ur OVERHEAD to a minimum.
In anything you are doing you gotta be disciplined and hungry for what you are going for. I got my CDL this year and I remember how focused and disciplined I was, I end up not working for 6 months prior to going to school had to be living off my savings that opened my eyes I was so focused on passing all my test plus doing them endorsement at the same.
1-month after receiving my Class-B CDL I was recruited by Waste Management. Started at $18/hr but the OT was consistent. 5 years later I’m making $30/hr @ both of my jobs ( Hazmat tanker(day) & Tri-axle dump truck(night) Upgraded to my Class-A in November 23 to remove the manual restriction it took me 6 weeks to complete.
A lot of hazmat companies still want you to at least a year of driving experience, even if it’s not hazmat experience. You may try getting a job driving a dump truck (tractor-trailer, not tandem) until you have at least a year. I’m currently driving for a paving company. It’s fairly low pay but I get overtime so that helps. But I’m home every night and I’m paid hourly, so even if I’m broke down due to a flat tire, etc., I’m not just sitting in the truck and not getting paid.
I’m looking into learning and getting my CDL. I thought about it often on for about 20 years. I feel that it’s important to learn how to manage what you have . There are many people who make decent money, but yet do a horrible job managing it and are always broke. Some people make six figures and are stupid with money while others make about half of that or under and are able to accomplish more. Better yourself, including your career and keep in mind that along with bettering yourself learn how to intelligently manage your money so that it works for you and not against you. Thanks for the great video. I really like this channel.
I just passed my permit test yesterday, start labbat food service on the 9th with their student driver program. Lubbock, Tx area I found them from your informational video about the company. Excited to get started!
I stayed in Knoxville Tennessee ( way back in the 90s)at a company provided ymca and trained for 2 months. It was a shelter housing people trying to get their lives str8 from drug problems to coming home from jail. Needless to say I slept light and on my back😂The company didn’t tell me that upfront . The food was donated food and my stomach was messed up for a month after I got thru that training. If you came in after a certain time you had to take a breathalyzer 😂They said it would be dormitory style housing that’s it. I get down to Knoxville off that bus and get to my destination and it’s a damn Salvation Army men’s shelter. I wanted to turn around and go home so bad but going back to moms house wasn’t an option at 22 yrs old. but I had nowhere till go so I stuck it out. I had to drive for the company a year ( oTR)to repay the training. I stayed 6 months and bounced . I wasn’t paying them to stay at a Salvation Army men’s shelter 😂they lied. But it worked out, cause I got thru the training got my CDL and got some experience. Stick it out guys you can do it!
I had CDL 4 months ago/ Hazmat 2 months ago/twic a month ago/Every trucking company asks for 6 months / 2 years of experience, Everyone ,do not select this as an income job, and now I am thinking, I'm wasting my time and money. A week ago I underwent an online interview with Dr. Pepper, oh man 7 questions like PhD level psychological questions, the company offers $21.99 /hour. I'm waiting another 2 more months , after that for my CDL to convert into a regular one.
You have to start somewhere to get your experience but depending on where you are at foodservice will hire you with no experience and you can make close to or more than 100k even your first year
You have to get your experience somehow, I got my experience thru the oilfield, I started at Haliburton which they didnt require any driving experience, after I got a year I bounced long story short I've been driving since 2018, I've been doing cryo since 2020, This year so far ytd 130k but for the record I dont go home everyday, im on rotational schedule
Stick it out. Took me 8 months before my first tractor trailer job. Easy easy money for what I do. I had to take a job at a trash company until someone picked me up. You can also yard jockey I see plenty of jockey jobs.
I’m in a 3 weeks course and I got my permit before starting my school! Getting my permit was the smartest things to do! After I’m done with my schooling I wanna get my hazmat and tanker endorsements
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m currently in CDL school, just had my 2nd drive time today. Training in the manual, so I don’t have any restrictions once I’m done. That CDL prep app is definitely a must use, highly recommend. I know in the beginning the money might not be there until I get to at least that 1 year experience, but I’m patient. I knew coming in the door what it was hitting for. I’m not trying to go OTR, definitely want to be local. Any suggestions on when I should actually start putting in applications, and what companies would you suggest for us newbies. Appreciate the info and content bro 👑👊🏾
Companies like Coke used to hire drivers with just a permit but you would need to have the actual CDL within 90 days of hire. Not sure if that still applies but check them out. If that’s the case then that’s an option. Food service companies like Gordon Food Service, Sysco, PFG, McLane, & Sygma have hired new CDL drivers. There’s also some LTL companies like Saia, & Estes for example that have dock to driver programs for new cdl drivers. Pepsi, along with most beer delivery companies will hire new cdl drivers also. Just do your research on these companies before applying. Good luck
My struggle is the Otr training with my trainer backing is tough 🤣 an my lane control but I’ve gotten better at that I’m on day 8 of 21 it’s definitely tough getting your mind and body adjusted to long driving
Currently working for Sysco , I’m on a 5 day work week. The only way I was able to do that is because I work nights. We can’t retain drivers so I was needed to work 5 days a week now they hired 3 drivers last week but they told me I am still keeping my 5 day work week. Day drivers work 4 days a week.
I’m looking into getting my CDL. I have an appointment next week for a nonprofit that helps people to obtain CDL B among other programs. I have an extensive retail background so I can relate to the loading and unloading aspect of the job very well. I would love to get a trucking food service job working four days a week. It’s always good to appreciate where you are as well as have the desire to do better for yourself. Just like right now there are people out there that would love to be where I am, so always be thankful in every season of life and it really grows you as a person thank the Lord. Great channel I just came across it and watched many videos. Thank you for the awesome content.

I was watching a lot of your older videos talking about different trucking companies who were hiring and the yearly salaries. I have another LTL company you could possibly make a video on if you haven't already. This company is not everywhere, though in my home state. If I'm not mistaken, I think they only have the one location. N&M Transfer; based in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Shift called me... once i complete the 3 wks course with a roommate in a motel, then $650 weekly during 4 weeks of behind the wheel. Work a year -75 a check or $7000 buyout😂😂😂😂 I try my best not to laugh. I rather paid $2k for a private school and fly like a bird. First year goal is +50k net and I'm greatful😊
@imanthonytv Also he might need to read the chapter and go over the questions in the book. Write them down and also doing practice test Write down the questions you got wrong. I'm glad you mentioned that they are trying to get people in and out . I don't think he using enough resources.
Best thing is to break down the whole pallet if has your stop on it and stack your stacks in the truck then roll down multiple at a time and if you finish your first stop early set up for your next stop so it’s a quick scoop and roll at stop 2

I also agreed you have people coming from doing ubereats that’s great money for them
cdl prep is goated for sure, all the questions are on the test
Is that for hazmat too
