  • Took this video to show how I installed my Dutch Parts Co. (DPC) front splitter on my 2018 VW Golf R Mk7.5. It shows all details including the removal of the front bumper cover, which is recommended for installing this splitter.

    Thanks for the video - i had to take the front bumper off my UK spec 7.5R to replace the lower grille which got cracked when my wife hit an animal.
    Your video was really handy, particularly where the wings (fenders?) join the bumper and being careful and also about pulling the upper grille forward rather than up (as per the 7R).
    Although i did end up doing two things slightly differently;
    1. The upper grille / ACC radar, i didn't actually disconnect it, i just unclipped the two wire retaining clips and that gave enough length of cable to sit the upper grille on top of the engine temporarily. I didn't want to disconnect the radar in case it caused an error code.
    2. Where you had trouble (around 4.12) with the two clips, i think you could have avoided that, as you don't need to remove the 3x T30's and the bar that it connects to, as you can remove just the bumper cover - there is about 7 or 8 prongs that hold the coloured bit of the bumper cover to this bar and these can be depressed to release the cover itself. It probably makes the bumper at little less rigid once removed but slightly lighter to deal with.
    My car has headlight washers but these were straight to disconnect and 'unplumb' to allow the bumper to come off.
    The worse things i had were probably undoing the prongs on the lower grille (not really part of this video) but also being careful putting the bumper cover back on - i covered the front corner of the wings (fenders) to stop the bumper cover rubbing the paint as i was working it back into place. Also putting the upper grille back in place, the lower prongs need to be made sure they all go back under the little bar/holes on the upper part of the bumper.

    Many thanks for your time and video! Helped me a lot to take away bumper at mine Golf 7,5 GTI for led ramp (extra high beam) installation. Have bolted led ramp to the crash beam from the bottom, so it is "hidden" behind the lower grill and number plate. Separate thanks for these middle clips description! Cheers from Sweden.

    That looks clean! Nice edges, doesn't stick out, and the install is pretty straight forward. Wish i found out about this one. Aerofabb has some long back orders right now and i just want to get mine on before summer ends! good job, man.

    Your fitment is so much better than my mk7. My splitter sticks out on the sides about an inch or so, whereas yours is more inline with the body of the bumper.

    I ordered a Dutch Splitter for my MK7 GTI, (not an R and not a 7.5) and I'm trying to understand what I'll be dealing with.
    I understand that there are some differences between the two fascias.
    Many people gloss over the bumper removal, and claim that it is super easy to remove and put back on.
    I have my doubts about that.
    Thanks for the video!

      I was in the same boat. You may not need to take off the three T30 screws on the front, I absent mindedly did it but don't think it's necessary.

    I work for Audi/Vw dealer, but I’m on the Audi side
    (Technician) it looks like you should release the tabs on the bumper not the part that’s at attached to radiator support. Vw/Audi bumper art very simple to remove. I can do that in 15 min or less
