Precisely the side marking leds in the head lights? I'm from Austria and hate the fact, that Volkswagen choose to not put them in the European market head lights.
I think about to chance this on my own (own a mk 7.5 facelift too) and need more information and pictures/videos of the side marking lights from a facelift, 'cause sadly nobody films direct this part of them.

Unfortunately this is actually becoming a thing with a few manufacturers. Certain features will be built into all the cars, but will be locked unless you paid for them. I’ve even seen some that will be a subscription. Want heated seats? Gotta pay a monthly fee to keep them enabled 🙄

Fantastic video thank you :). I am keen to stop the centre section between the dials changing all the time when I do things on the main centre display (eg I have digital speedo there and it changes to phone or whatever). It never did on my old GTI.

Fantastic video and very well explained. Does the DRL Setting in Head Unit mean you'll be able to active or deactivate both front and rear DRL's (assuming you've activated the Scandinavian rear DRL's)? Via the head unit menu?

Is there a long code to set the climate control when you use the remote start? My default is where the fans and temperature are set to low. It doesn't heat up quickly during winter. Thanks

Pro-tip: If you have an Android phone that is rooted, you can set up an auto-clicker to play the ads over and over. I have a spare android phone, I just sign in, enable the "script" and let it sit until I rack up the credits I need. Only takes like 45 minutes to get 200 credits, AND it makes the company money to keep making incredibly useful apps and tweaks for us to enjoy. Its a win-win and I hope that OBD doesn't block this!
A lot of these features are standard on my GTD 7.5 including Windows opening/closing from remote, central locking with ignition etc.

A bit late to the party, getting gti 7.5 soon amd was wondering when you downloaded the ambient lighting app to change dash colour etc... do the colour options still stay in the custom setting on the car if you remove the obd from the port?

Unplug it after. Only plugged in while making changes. They save to the canbus system in the car.
Did you have to spend credits for the acoustic confirmation setting? My 2016 GTI has that feature in the menu, and I have never used OBD11.

Would this obd11 work on 2016 base jetta? Having problem with stock radio touchscreen,right side is not responsive to any touch..also dim in Florida 🌞 ! Ive locked myself out and keys in with auto lock to many times on other car..just empty 🗑 and wind blows door shut..click..AAA took 4 hours 1 day..ac is on..but I'm in 1oo*f + heat! Never heard of this product before. Thanks for cool show and tell..just ive got lowest $ 2016 jetta 1.4 and trying to find out if this is worth it..also I see next gen device now available..your thoughts please.
I have used the OBDeleven extensively on my 2019 SEL-P Jetta which has the Cold Weather Package. I programmed it with the auto-lock upon closing your door which I love. I used the app to keep the car running while the doors are locked and it didn't work. I had to remove the little plastic door handle piece to gain access to use my key to unlock the door. I thought maybe because I have the remote start feature or the door slam programming is why the door doesn't unlock with my key FOB.
Does OBDeleven also work for a 2019 Jetta SEL ?

@@Failedstateofcali I'm not sure what link you want? Are you referring to the link for OBD 11 or for all the modification sequences. Currently I'm two and a half hours from home where I have all my information.

Did you already have RGB Ambient lighting as stock mate, as my car doesnt support the App to change the colors on virtual dash, nor do I have background lighting on Head Unit?

Tempting to buy the device, however there are so many unhappy customers on Amazon. Moreover not US or Canada based product therefore customer support/warranty could be tricky.

People get way too hung up on the credit app aspect of the obdeleven. They don't understand that you can do everything for free on there, those apps are just for convenience. And you don't even need to buy them, you can get them for free just by logging in daily and/or watching some short ads. I've already used pretty much all the apps I want for my car, including the 100 credit euro tail light one and I didn't pay a single cent for credits. There's nothing wrong with going the cable route either, but imo the obdeleven is very user friendly and it's all I personally need as a casual enthusiast doing some tinkering and not a proper mechanic.
Quick question, is the OBDeleven compatible with the 2018 SE VW TIGUAN & iOS (Apple Phones) ?
& how much credits because I live in the North East and in the winter I'd like to warm up my car with the doors locked, but obviously can't without this app.

Like some of these personalised settings, one I really miss from my Skoda Superb is the lowering mirror when reversing, with the cost just for that.
Which Android App were you using for this, seemed very clear and simple to use.
EDIT I realise now the app is part of the OBD package.
Comes standard in all EU golfs.

The only lights that change are the infotainment accent colours on a MK7.5. The door and sill are always blue for R or red for GTI. And you cannot swap them for canbus controlled RGB, at least I don’t think you can.

My Golf Mk5 GT TSI has the mode for locking windows while holding the lock on the keys and vice versa. It was standard from the factory

All the options you activated appart from the ability to change colours is a standard feature on Australian vehicles

Does the remote shut-off the engine now with mod? ( say u r emptying ashtray and car is running and someone hops in while other person distracted you..can u turn off engine with remote? Maybe even lock that S.O.B. in without him being able to unlock door as key is not with him..your 30ft away..but now hopefully you killed engine,called police,and the theif,now fool is stuck trying to get away,only to be locked in.if not a app is this do -able by coding? What is needed to do long coding? Phone or must use laptop? Thanks for your help.

They are excellent. Just be aware that we are at a transitioning phase towards all new cars and software. 2021+ models will be totally different and likely not as open for software enhancements for a few years (or ever if they encrypt and add always connected software. 2006-2020 is the Canbus Coding era of VW.

This likely means you would have purchased an MK5 that someone already either enabled :)

Don’t I think this is worth it for a 2013 Jetta tdi (premium trim)?? For example, my car doesn’t honk when I lock it but I want it to. I do not have push start but when it’s cold I want to be able to start my car with one key and lock it with the other. Heated seat memory would be nice too lol.

For me to have 30+ ambient colours do I need too but the odbeleven Pro or just the standard odbeleven mate?
Standard but if you plan on doing more pro is really nice to have so you can code yourself without spending ‘credits’ for the 1 click app coding.

To everyone shitting on the disabled features on this car, understand please that in the US Volkswagen is an economy brand - it perceives its main competitors here as Honda and Toyota. Their mission here is to sell economical cars to Americans who would rather drive European than drive Asian or be stuck on the side of the road (American), without stealing sales from VAG's other brands. Since the 90s, they have removed features on their mainstay cars when they come to America for the fear of Audi and Porsche customers walking to the other side of the dealership and paying half the price for the same basic car.

Canbus Coding changes are Permanent, unless you remove the code later. Nothing needs to be left inserted.

Hey, what oil temperature is your normalt on? Checking for my brother who bought a 2018 last week. Hes temp is about 105-107 celsius during a normal ride on a sunny day with 24 degrees celsius
T Batong I’m the same. Overall oil temps are 10c cooler than my GTI. R has more coolers.

Never heard of that in US or Canada. Mostly it's just people on forums willing to meet up and help each other with canbus long coding.
OBDEleven is a lot more than just what is shown here. It's a scan tool with extensive capabilities on top of being able to long code things like you see here. It's relatively cheap and works with your phone, it's a must buy if you aren't just a drone who prays the dealer is going to take care of you.

The OBDeleven does lots for MK7 Golfs. Google it and use their forums to learn more. It’s a powerful tool with a pro code for canbus longcoding.
isn't the 3rd light mode controlled by your light switch an option for drl & taillights (scandanavian)? it is on my gti. it goes drl, auto, drl/taillights, high beams and pull knob for fogs
I live in Sweden. there is no such.. only drl, auto, lowbeam and pull knob for fog lights or drl, lowbeam and pull knob. The high beam is on the blinker. Just pull it against yourself. Edit of course some cars may be different but as far I know here in sweden and norway. Just like Volvo and Audi. They do have taillights on only when auto is used. so like drl, auto/taillights, lowbeam

Yes 17” is minimum size needed to clear the front R brakes. The drive is slightly more plush vs the 19” Pretoria on continentals.
How does the Ambient Color App work I just got the OBD11 V2 Pro and when I use the app it comes up 'Not Supported" ... BUT I read the Adaptation code and watched a video on it and after you do the adaption code you have to then reset the radio by holding the power button until the radio turns off and then back on again. (so how does the app perform this function?) Then you click on the light symbol at the end of the color bar and select different areas in the car as well. Seems may be different for different models in different countries even though the OBD11 show's the App for my car. I have a 2020 Golf MK7.5 R. Australia.
Yes. Some things will allow me to tweak and some othets not. Also in Australia. What icks me is, uoi pay for it using an app but don't get the bennefit to have it work. There should be a refund system.

No I have not. I heard it’s quite subtle. There is also an engine coding change to Audi makes pedal a lot more linear and improves mid-range power, but it causes cruise control error and non function until you clear all the codes and change back to VW. I still might try it someday.
Hey! I bought an OBD Eleven based on your videos, and was stoked to try some of these changes out, but none of the apps work for me on a 2019 Golf R! I either get "Not available" or "value not set". Any ideas what I can do?

With using a OBD 11 void any factory warranty? Really want to know want to do some of these mods but have very good warranty that I don't want to void?
It should not void warranty. But if you screw up a module code and expect the warranty to fix that or reset it for you, it won’t. Keep track of your changes.
I traded in a MK7 GTI with extensive canbus mods using OBDeleven and it scanned clean for a certified pre-owned status. These coding changes are not flagged as TD1, like an ECU flash is.
