Megane, ID.3, Born, C4, Astra, Mokka, 308, 2008, etc, need to be priced more competitively.
Between the MG4, Smart #1, Volvo EX-30 and Tesla Model 3, the others will have a hard time selling.
I particularly like the Megane. 4'19m length, It's also not very wide, plenty of space inside, efficient, Google Automotive...but it's a bit overpriced.

A few reviewers have mentioned the delay in regen braking, so I was looking out for this when I test drove one two days ago - I think they must have fixed this issue, I found it exactly the same as all the other EVs I've tested over the last few weeks.
I forgot to find out whether the ePedal setting is saved in your driver profile now, that would be ideal!

People here commenting that they would wait for Volvo EX30 need to know that these two cars have different wheelbase length. Smart #1 is much more spacious than Volvo EX30, especially at backseat.

    • @lozkko

Maybe the back seat space is larger, and the car taller, appearing more spacious? But the boot size is almost identical (5 litre difference) and the overall length of the car is only 4cm different. I care a lot about the boot because of dogs. P.S. Sorry, just checked, the wheelbase of Smart is 10cm longer, quite significant so probably there is quite a bit more space. Pity about the boot!

I think physical buttons is a lost battle, at least on lower-priced cars. And if we had them, we'd just end up arguing about which functions ought to use them. And when we have assignable buttons (like the MG4's star buttons on the wheel), you have to remember what the unlabelled button does - it won't scale to more than a couple of them.
They ought to focus on the touchscreen controls making the most often-used interactions easy to reach and do. BIG buttons on the touchscreen, fast menu navigation, so you can do what you want quickly and easily while looking at the road, when bumps make your finger wobbly.

We have been buying Smart's since 1999, and still ride the last build 2017 ForTwo ICE Smart Cabrio. Brilliant cars for 1 or 2 person households.
No problem with vacations from Netherlands to Austria or Italy. Sadly, they dont build 2--door cars anymore with a usable range of at least 300km.
The Chinese can build small affordable EV's with that range, so can the Fiat 500e, but not affordable.
I understand that Smart is going to the 4-door car market. That is what 99.9% of the brands do.

Have Smart advised you that "#" is pronounced "hashtag"?
Because long before there were hashtags, # was pronounced "hash" in the UK, "pound" in the USA (especially with reference to phone buttons - "press the pound button to hear these options again"), or just "number" when preceding a number.
I'd have read "Smart #1" as "Smart Number One"

In terms of space and practically the Smart #1 is much better than the Volvo EX30. The #1 is a feasible small family car, the EX30 is not with the cramped rear seats.

HERE IS MY COMPLETE LIST OF ELECTRONICS I NEED/WANT IN A CAR:
    1) power windows/sunroof.
    2) power mirrors.
    3) booming stereo.
    4) power locks.
I DON'T WANT anymore bullshit stuffed in the car. Jacking up the price. Adding maintenance issues.
GIVE ME button, levers, and switches.
GIVE ME analogue dials and gauges.
Just imagine how much less expensive this car would be without all the bullshit like a 'fox assistant'.

having fewer buttons is actually cheaper to build. The EX30 takes that one step further. The Stereo of the #1 Premium is first class! Only drawback is that the subwoofer in the back takes up a bit of space in the lower compartment, well worth it :)

It just show how behind European car manufacturers are compared to Chinese ones. VW had to team up with Xpeng, Mercedes now works with Geely to be able to provide competitive EVs. i’m not a big fan of frameless windows. Overall #1 is a good alternative but a bit expensive.

Both the exterior and interior design look like they're debating dropping the Smart brand altogether and putting a Mercedes badge on it. At that price they may as well, who would pay that much for a Smart?! The EX-30 is practically the same car but manages to be much cheaper in price.

This car looks generally good, but the infotainment system looks absolutely maddening.
I'm normally opposed to all those British posh people chasing foxes and getting their hounds to tear the fox to pieces, but I would make an exception here. This is a fox that deserves to be hunted.
Also, as someone with fat thighs, I do fear - as Ginny suggested - that I might find my knees banging against the door and the centre console when I'm driving.

Yes that’s super car quick. Want something £7k cheaper and just as quick then the MG 4 Xpower will give an RS3 a run for its money from the lights, if you’re in to that kind of thing. 😮
