The Kia EV3 has much better rear passenger space and boot space. Car journalists seem to give the EX30 all these awards because of its design and "sportiness" but practically is more important to me, and probably to most viewers, so I would choose the EV3 too.
Practicality is relevant. For us the boot of any vehicle would be 99% used for our dog. We did a 45 minutes test drive and he had plenty of room in the EX30. Going for massive boots that are most of the time filled with air and nothing else is a poor criteria. If you really need more than 318l EX30 not for you. Loads of people don't actually need more.
The EV3 has iPedal and will come to a complete stop. It also has a 2 level rear boot floor. The bings and bongs stop with a press and hold of the vol. button. The middle climate screen can be viewed on the left screen. Also, the all important charging curve is much flatter and doesn't drop too much until about 70%, which is 10 to 15% more than Niro and Kona. This brings down the charging time. Oh, and 7 year 100k mile warranty. Shame no lumber support and heat pump on air spec, but not a major negative.
I've driven the volvo and the kia, and the kia its a lot more car for the price. Its very big inside compare to the other, and very comfortable to use. No comparison.
But Volvo stick to their warranty claims. Whereas Kia wriggle out of everything they can. Also, spares for Kia, can be a long wait, (many weeks to many months). And Kia dealers are hellish.)
@@dcvariousvids8082not my experience with Kia in Denmark. I have driven Kia cars for more than 10 years now, and they have never tried to squeeze out of any claims I have had. An in Denmark Volvo only have a 2 year guarantee.

All electric cars should have heated seats (and steering wheel), even compared to a heat pump interior heating its much more energy efficient an faster to directly heat the seats and steering wheel than to heat up the whole interior. Although SAAB was first with electric heated seats as standart, a new Volvo new without heated seats seems unreal.
I don't think those who may choose the £15k Dacia Spring, or the £22k Citroen EC3 will be in the least bit bothered about the lack of heated seats or steering wheel.
Volvo EX30 is actually Chinese EV. EX30 use EV platfrom name SEA(Sustainable Experience Architecture) made from chinese auto company Geely. And Geely is parent company of Volvo. So technically, Volvo is Chinese brand. Not swedish anymore.
@@waynehobbs5175 no. Korean are ahead. Nowadays, heat pumps are standard to all EVs. In the Global, Tesla and Hyundai/KIA are top tier. And second is Chinese brands such as Xpeng, NIO, Zeekr. And rest others are European brands. By the way,Volvo EX30 from this video is Zeekr with Volvo badge. So this video actually compared EV between Kia and Zeekr.
@@waynehobbs5175 There are other aspects of a car than soft interior and lots of power. Xpeng G6 for instance got nice interior and great seats, and charging is really good. But as a car, it comes short when compared to MEB cars of VW, Skoda etc. They just lack the stuff that makes for a good car in daily use. I was in the market for a G6 LR, but it drives like a turd, no HUD, no matrix lights and the ADAS are just not as good as European cars. Suddenly, a G6 is rather expensive, compared to lets say a Cupra Tavascan.
You need to hold the right flappy paddle down for a second or two and it enables i-pedal. And this gives you one pedal driving that comes to a complete stop. This is how all the Kia EV’s work. Hold down the right paddle and it goes into auto i-pedal, which is good as it lets the car judge whether you need to come to a full stop or not.
And it also has Auto Pedal of you hold the left flappy down, wich changes the regen to the cars speed, so you don’t accidentally break hard on the highway
The Kia paddles setup varies. For example, in the right hand drive EV6 GT-Line S holding the right paddle down toggles between Auto and Manual regen modes. Auto mode enables smart regen where the car's front radar and camera to perform regen automatically depending upon the traffic in front of the car and road conditions; the car will apply regen to maintain distance itself and when you take you foot off the accelerator (like in manual regen). To obtain i-Pedal, you set the car to manual regen and repeatedly pull the left hand paddle stepping through three levels till the fourth pull and the car goes into i-Pedal (one pedal) mode. In manual regen four levels of regen can be applied, numbered 0 (off) through 3, set by the pulling briefly on left paddle to increase and right paddle to decrease the setting. In Auto mode, the car applies the regen itself depending upon traffic conditions, but you can use the paddles to adjust the regen applied to one of three ranges (rather than a specifc level); set in the same way using left and right paddles. The sensitivity of the Auto regen can also be tweaked between three overall profiles - high (strong), medium or low (gentle) - through the touch screen EV settings menu. This tailors the car's regen response (from agressively applying regen to smoothly applying regen within each range). Holding the left paddle continuously puts the car into max regen override where it applies full regen till the car stops and when released goes back to the previous setting (off, manual/auto level 1 to 3, or i-Pedal).
I thought all models offer regen? But great explanation and certainly more in depth than I did 😆 But I am talking Europe mainly Scandinavia. The GT -Line in Sweden is the same as GT-LineS in UK. It comes fully loaded. So no “basic” GT Line available if that makes sense. I am from the UK but live in Sweden and I think Kia took the piss for the UK charging for extras such as heat pumps and various other options which seem to be extra on the GT-Line S in the UK and included as standard in Sweden and to be honest at that time the price wasn’t massively different . I have had the GT Line(S) and now a GT. Both work as explained and the regen I think is fantastic in these Kia /Hyundai EV cars having so many options to choose. Usually I am in full regen Auto, unless on the motorway I drop it to regen 2 to allow me to coast a bit and also to use the brakes a bit, which I think is important on most EV’s. The only difference which I miss on the GT-Line(S), compared to the GT is on the GT there is no Snow mode. And in Sweden it comes in handy. But I guess 585hp makes up for it. 🤔😆. But not in the snow.
@@markgeezey1809 - I think they do, it's just the paddle handedness, auto facility and how to engage i-Pedal I believe that varies. Heat-pumps are optional in the UK as it lowers the cost of the car, which is already more expensive than in Europe. In many of the milder areas of the UK the extra cost of the heat pump would only pay for itself by year 4 or 5 of ownership, due to most EV driver charge on cheap overnight rates vs the cost of the heat-pump. As most new cars are owned for 3 or 4 years the payback isn't there. The EV6 has a brake-cleaning mode, if you occasionally switch regen off (0) and it sense poor braking it will pump the brakes 10 times whilst driving to clean the discs. To be honest snow mode is a must in the RWD model, I'm glad it's got it otherwise with the torque available it would just spin the rear wheels. I cannot imaging what the GT is like to drive in snow, must need a very light foot on the accelerator.
“So comfortable on 17” wheels”. Exactly! Low profile tyres are an expensive, uncomfortable and unnecessary extravagance which should not automatically be included in upper level models
They are both distinct, and fantastically well designed, but on camera they actually look super similar, could be from the same family, in a way. The Kia is it for me,despite being a huge Volvo design fan.
100% the kia. I nearly got the Volvo but opted for the Megan’s. The EX30 was way too minimalist for me, and I’m 26. I’m not sure who their target demographic is but it’s too stripped back and not enough physical buttons.
I’ve viewed many reviews, all made by men. No one mentioned anything about putting kids in the back seats, so it seems women are looking at daily issues they face. Well done, i really liked this one !
Absolutely!! anyone can give you their personal opinion on a vehicle comparison and give you facts and figures but when it's so entertaining and delightful to see the hosts interact, it takes it from a great review to a bloody brilliant one 😊
I always like to be given the range of these cars but I would also like to hear from you in any full review you do of ACTUAL, real world range achieved by yourselves during the review It would be much appreciated. Otherwise please keep up the good work
Hi. if you want that sort of measurement, Bjorn Nyland has the right TH-cam channel for you. He goes up and down the same road with all sorts of EVs, notes down consumption, temperature, etc. That's how you can find real life range figures.
Heat pump is in every spec model outside UK. If the names of the models are: EV3, EV3 Long Range, EV3 Plus Long Range and EV3 GT, then you have a heat pump no matter the trim. Don’t understand why the UK market decided to remove the heat pump.
Went to Everything Electric and drove the Volvo which was OK. Then tried to get in the rear seat - not a chance! The distance between the back of the driver's seat and the C pillar was shorter than my thigh bone and I'm average height. My taller, but slimmer, son-in-law could just get in but couldn't close the door! He did a test drive in an EV3 last week - it's now top of the list as his next car.
The Kia EV3 for the win. It's like a more compact version of my Ioniq 5. Hyundai/Kia Motors really are the new EV benchmark. Too bad this model is not available on this side of the pond. Well… yet. We'll see. You two make me laugh. Wish I could be a fly in the cabin with you.
Kia every time for me, just based on how tiny the Volvo is inside (I’ve been in one) and the overall package for the money. Having at least some physical controls helps too!
I actually prefer plastic dashboard. It's make cleaning and dusting much easier than those new models with fabric/Alcantara dashboard. You can't just wipe the dust off.
I remember when Alcantara was introduced on some Italian cars in the mid 70’s. Looked ok but it was a dreadful long term option for the reasons already stated here.
Kia wins because they give people a more spacious car with a rock solid infotainment with sensible buttons and switches. Enough of the dated Tesla one screen nonsense.
I ordered my gorgeous Kia EV3 at the sparkly launch in Aug ‘24 (UK) without a test drive and without ever having driven an electric car (although my previous car was the self-charging hybrid Kia Niro). Risky, I know, I’m sure lots of you will be thinking…but I had watched a LOT of (mainly Korean at that time) reviews on TH-cam and so already felt very familiar with the car. I’m not an expert and I don’t drive long distances regularly but my Kia EV3 is an absolute dream to drive! I have the top spec GT Line S in white and it’s an eye-catcher (the car, not me…). I’ve had it for five weeks and I’m just getting used to the charging process so I cannot really comment on the cost of that yet. However, I can confirm that the Kia EV3 is smooth and easy to drive and I agree wholeheartedly with everything that the reviewers have stated here. Thanks for the great review, Ladies; I’m with you here! I ❤ my Kia EV3!
There is one, done quite recently - as much as I love the Enyaq, the EV3 is equipped more like a small-mid sized suv compared to the Elroq, equipped more like a compact suv.
It beggars belief that a car from Volvo (famous for their focus on safety) where you have to take your eyes off the road for anything other than steering is rated so highly.
That's not entirely correct. There are a few things that would be great if they were more accessible but, for the most part, the time you need to use them are about the same than on a button centric car. In fact, the things that are two screens deep are things that I usually set up /switch on before starting. However, for foggy countries like the UK, the fog lights switch is accessed by pressing three buttons which is real bummer / pain in the royal butt 😎.
@@joaquimlopes2133 "the time you need to use them are about the same than on a button centric car" that's BS, and I'm saying this based on first hand experience with this subject.
@@joaquimlopes2133 it's not a matter of an opinion, it's a fact. Let's take AC as an example, even to adjust temps, you need to get through multiple clicks, not to mention the more advanced AC settings - which in a "button centric" car are always there, always in the same place, and can be adjusted without having to look where you press.
If you factor that additional cost of a heat pump, vs the cost of cost of any electricity savings, then in the UK on a domestic EV tariff, it takes years and 80,k miles to break even. So what is the point in spending the money for a heat pump, for the second or third owner to take advantage of.
@@johnnodge4327 Yeah i would go for no heatpump if i could. When temp drops to 0C, they are not very efficient, and in the summer, it makes no difference. And a PTC heater is less expensive to replace and requires less maintenance.

Great comparison review - we tested both and came to the same conclusion - our EV3 Air arrived this week and we are very pleased apart from the annoying bongs that come with all new cars unfortunately. If you switch into iPedal mode it will come to a complete stop and hold - real one pedal driving. Agree it should have a heat pump at least as an option on all models. The rumour is that the PCP deals will improve in the New Year but it's only a rumour. Merry Christmas!
Loved this for both the sheer joy of it and that there eas a definite conclusion. No wishy washy there all good fudge. And I agree, the EV3 is brilliant even in its "basic" package.
press and hold the left paddle to put it in ipedal mode and it will come to a complete stop. press and hold the right paddle and it puts you in to automode that decides what level of regen is best for the driving conditions, or so claimed.
The looks of both cars are a matter of taste, but otherwise the Kia destroys the EX30. Seems like Volvo was anxious to get it out as soon as possible and didn't think everything quite through. A 64kwh battery, that's only 51kwh when its charged to 80% and only 44kwh available from 80% to 10%, combined with a not so low consumption. Add to that the minimalistic interior. EV3 offers far better value for money.
@ why not, nothing wrong with that. I ordered an Xpeng after having tested several brands and models from European, Korean, Japanese and Chinese origin. And Tesla of course. The Xpeng was the best deal tech and spec-wise for the money.
The EV3 can come to a complete stop in iPedal mode, which was propbably off. iPedal/One pedal works with any mode of regen, which is actually brilliant and would have deserved a mention.
Thanks for the "utilitarian"...(not sure if I spelled it correctly); helps me as a non native English speaker expand my vocabulary ;-) And by the way, really funny and nice review (as always)
The great thing about this review is the real-world focus: “does a stroller fit in the back?” or “is there a phone holder in the back seat?” or “would I actually use the ‘laptop stand’?” These are the kinds of things male reviewers seldom ask in these reviews. Women are often the budget-decision holders in a household car purchase decision anyway, so we got the stats and specs but we got more in this review about ‘would everyone in the family prefer this car?’ More of this please.
I agree. I would add it is annoying when you have to unload the entire boot to go to the hidden space underneath to get to the charge cables. Frunk is perfect for the cables.
You ladies are brilliant. Great review. I expect delivery of my new EV3 in about 4 weeks. Can't wait. We ordered it in October, with an end of Feb delivery estimation, so 6 weeks earlier. There were no models available locally (Munich Germany) to see or test drive. But we made the commitment anyway. All based on what these ladies, and other TH-cam channels have been saying. Never done that before. Looking forward to picking the car up soon. Will post an update then.
We have an ex30. It's very good but I prefer the ev3 interior. We did not buy an ev3 because it was not available. The ex30 performance is amazing. A. MAZING. I drive a sportage gtlineS awd. Looking at an ev next. Interested on ev 5 pricing .. it may be more than I want to pay for a car . If the ev3 comes with an awd version, I will consider it very seriously.
For full stop using the electric motor you need to hold the left paddle until stop. This works also in the older cars, including the first generation e-NIRO.
My pet hate is everything on a massive centre screen so the Ex30, along with Teslas, would get anywhere near my shortlist of cars. I want diver information in my line of sight
So, I’ve had the EX30 for a few weeks now (to replace a Tesla 3 LR) and a few things you need to be aware of that are infuriating! 1. You can’t use your phone as a key (yet) you can open it and set the heating from the App, but that’s about it. 2. The lane keeping assist is not only infuriating, but dangerous at times. You can turn it off, but you can’t set it as a profile so it’s on every time you get into the car. 3. The speed warning is also infuriating and again, even if turned off is on next time you get in. 4. The driver fatigue is a pain and again, you can turn it off, but it’s on again next time! 5. You don’t get the full power automatically! You need to go into the settings and select “Performance over efficiency”, every time!!! I bought the AWD performance not the LR one! I want the performance every time I get in!!!! Again, not able to save to your settings! 6. Apple CarPlay is awful! Sometimes it automatically syncs but 50% of the time it doesn’t work and needs 5-6 attempts to get it to work! Even if you think it is working, a telephone call will come through and you can’t answer it! Then the music is stop and start! 7. The “key fob” sometimes works and at other times you are standing there waiting to get in and if it’s too close to the car in the house, it opens! You need at least 10 foot distance to secure the car! 8. The reversing camera it in a stupid place! It’s either too dirty to be of any use, or if it’s raining, there’s always a drip in the middle! 9. Regenerative breaking is pointless, especially if you are using the performance setting, when there is none at all! Hopefully, some of these issues will be sorted with over the web updates? But, ATM it’s just ruining a potentially good car!
The EV5 is the first Kia to come out of Kia’s China factory. The battery is an LFP from BYD, hence the slower battery charging rates but with the advantage of longer battery life and less issues charging frequently to 100%.
I’ve been looking vaguely at both of these cars as I’m the proud owner of one of the last (2022) BMW i3S models and am struggling to engage with a car as much as I have with the old i3. It’s interesting that the i3 gets a mention at the end when discussing the Volvo. I my dad has the EX30 and loves it but aim also conscious of its downsides which are better in the EV3 / eg rear space ( I actually think is done better in the I3 even than the Volvo despite the Volvo being a slightly bigger car). I’ve seen the EV3 and been impressed with the design and spaciousness ( it is also a bit bigger than the Volvo as well) but I haven’t driven yet .. I’m not sure it has the soul / excitement I feel from the old i3 and maybe the Volvo might due to it being RWD and a bit more powerful have a little more of that - who knows . I’m happy keeping the i3 for a long while yet tbh so almost anything I get in the future will have probably more boot space bigger battery and faster charging so I really don’t care in those depts … the i3 has been fine for me for 5 years ( I had an older one before the 2022) . I may yet test the EV2 when it arrives though ..
I have an EX30 SMER ultra on order, The EV3 Isn't an option for me right now. I personally really liked the drive of the ex30. Did test-drive the new scenic also, but liked the simplicity of the Volvo and the screen is something I got used to really quickly. Also test drove a model 3 and the regen on that is way too strong for my liking. The paddles are good, but really I just don't want to have to keep adjusting the strength of the rengen. Plus, I really hate the huge plastic arches. Great comparison of the two, though. I did have a 2020 Honda Civic sport and a lot of things you couldn't adjust while on the move, only when stationary. You can use your voice to adjust the heating etc. Plus there's also demist and the hazards near the SOS in the roof, if the screen should glitch.
In my view the only things from the really top EV3 (UK version) I would like would be the Heated/Cooled seats, the HUD and the heat pump. I currently have a Niro ev4 and never use the sunroof, and don't need the "premium" stereo. I can't see the point of the table. If they were to introduce this trim (which incidentally you can specify in Korea) it could come-in below the £40K luxury car tax band (which by now should be about £52K, as the government has never adjusted it for inflation). I hadn't thought about the heat pump until the last couple of weeks when my 100% range has dropped from 270 to 185 miles, All EV manufacturers need to think about the £40K luxury car tax level,
You should be able to adjust the steering wheel "firmness" in the EX30 settings. Two great, semi-affordable, electric cars without compromises - if the specs match your checks list, you won't go wrong with any of them ❤ ... And the china-build will become a Belgium-build some time next year
The EV3 is a subcompact, entry-level electric vehicle that's smaller than a Seltos. It's expected to cost less than $35,000 and has a range of 350-450 km per charge.
I think that’s a thing of the past it’s only us older generation that grew up respecting the cars our parents and friends had. The younger Uber gen don’t really car they don’t have that attachment in Cars because they have everything else they’d rather have than a car sitting 80% doing nothing loosing money. In my day passing your test at 17 was a right of passage now it’s hard to convince them to think about a test you get that answer not really that bothered. People used to aspire to a certain Badge be it BMW, Mercedes, Saab, a fast Ford etc. When you drive into a 40 space car pack and three are BYD it’s a eye opener, more Kia and Hyundai than you care to count.
You are 100% correct. I have an even better closer example. The Volvo EX30 v Smart #1 v Zeekr X Same car same platform same price right? Well the Volvo will sell many thousands more even though it is definitely the runt of the litter with its smaller interior space, lack of tech and missing many features. They are as different as ikea & Mercedes.
Why buy Volvo ? Well in word SAFETY ! Actual safety and not stranage NCAP which counts pings/pongs 😂 Once heard a senior traffic police person say if they hear about a car accident involving a Volvo they know there is unlikely to be a death involved.
The Kia is physically a larger car in its outer dimensions, being longer, wider, and taller. If what you seek is a small, sporty hatchback EV, the EX30 is brilliant. There is a certain clarity and lack of distraction having just a single display and no profusion of alternative controls. I guess time will tell whether the single screen to rule them all is less or more safe than alternatives.
I can't speak for the EV3 - never seen one, been in one or driven one. However, I have had an EX30 for about 6 months (and 8,000 miles). It is utterly wonderful. My first electric car and my favourite car I have ever owned. It is the talk of town (I also have it in yellow). It is very quick (I no longer dream of slouching into that Jaguar F-type). The interior is like a high-end luxury saloon. It is very simple to drive. I never have 'range anxiety' and just plug it in at home like my mobile phone. I have only used a public charge point once, just to try. I don't understand all the regen business. It suits me as it is. I would happily have this car for the rest of my life.
@@mattsoutherden That is concerning to me, I have a Chevy Bolt EUV and get over 3.6 on highway driving, 4.3 in city. Though both drop if I'm using AC or heat by about 0.3 miles.
@@sloanNYC we also have a Renault zoe, which is more comparable to a bolt. That does over 4. But the EV9 is a MUCH larger vehicle. It's over 5m long, and has 3 rows of usable seats. It's never going to get the same efficiency.
@@mattsoutherden The bigger they get, the bigger the battery needed, which makes them heavier and it all contributes to them not being a great option for the environment at that point.
The KIA is very competitive. I'm not the biggest fan of the Volvo (despite loving the brand). It's main selling point seems to be resale value though early troubles with the EX30 did hit confidence in the brand and probably resale. Worth also considering the extended range Renault Megane. A fair bit more range than the base EV3 for about a grand more. Depends on your taste but I prefer the interior too.
I was excited for the Jeep Avenger and then it was meh. I was excited for the Volvo EX30 and then it was too minimalist inside and overkill on the power... I was excited by the Megane E-Tech and... I'm still excited?? Every time I look into new EVs, even this EV3... I always end up back at the Megane ETech tbh. It just seems so right?!
little question, why not compare the EX30 to a premium chinese brand? for example, the Zeekr X, from the same owners of Volvo. Same safety tech but more space, more premium materials and ~5k more expensive... it's a no brainer for me on that cathegory
My only minor gripe with the EV3 is the charging port location. It should be on the driver's side, not the passenger side. Is the passenger side better for the Tesla superchargers? I heard Tesla will be extending their charging cords to accommodate different EV brands.
I love the EV3 like I love the Kona but both are lacking 2 things: - an AWD options with a tad more punch - a top level line without the fake leather which doesn't age well. Nline Kona EV is great but not available in every country. I also love the Ex30 but live in Spain and need ventilated seats which you can't spec on it :/
As an owner of a Kia e-niro (2021) and 2 kids, I cannot imagine fitting everything inside a tiny volvo boot. Also, kia looks better in my opinion, and I think it charges faster if you take into account the battery is larger, which will get you significantly further. I would always choose longer range and space in the boot and back.
Kia have over 1000 EV3's vehicles available for Uber and Bolt drivers as this is a replacement for the Kia Niro. This will undoubtedly affect future residual values for private buyers. Good luck to those who are going to get sucked up on a expensive PCP.
@@AlanTov In case you haven't noticed, all the EV manufacturers are chasing fleet sales because lack of private buyers. The Kia EV3 has much better rear passenger space and boot space. Car journalists seem to give the EX30 all these awards because of its design and "sportiness" but practically is more important to me, and probably to most viewers, so I would choose the EV3 too.
yeah practicality is more important for 99% of people.
exactly, volvo has no substance
The Volvo fares really poorly in range tests as well
Better still look at the Elroq
Practicality is relevant. For us the boot of any vehicle would be 99% used for our dog. We did a 45 minutes test drive and he had plenty of room in the EX30. Going for massive boots that are most of the time filled with air and nothing else is a poor criteria. If you really need more than 318l EX30 not for you. Loads of people don't actually need more.
I agree the EV3 wins. Great comparison. Kia are certainly improving and I hope it's real world range can be within reach.

The EV3, obviously, as it has the better interior and ergonomics.
But the ev3 is front wheel drive and no heat pump and all the tacky looking buttons
Great honest review. I like the Volvo on paper, but EV3 seems like the smarter choice.
Buy a used XC/Ex40
Yeah except for the Chinese brands, who are catching up very fast, KIA makes the best electric cars right now.
Volvo EX30 is actually Chinese EV. EX30 use EV platfrom name SEA(Sustainable Experience Architecture) made from chinese auto company Geely. And Geely is parent company of Volvo. So technically, Volvo is Chinese brand. Not swedish anymore.
The Chinese are ahead of Korea and Slovakia, Japan and America in EV world cars. Most have heat pumps standard fit and offer incredible build quality.
@@yumyumlol-o7r Most of the parts used in the Volvo are still Europe based. So they have to think about making a car that can still be affordable.
Hyundai also use the same paddle setup, not that it's a surprise, considering Hyundai owns Kia.
But great explanation and certainly more in depth than I did 😆
But I am talking Europe mainly Scandinavia.
EV3 is really nice …. It can match the XC40 even.
Thinking about changing from my born next year. Think the EV3 is going on the maybe list.
100% the kia. I nearly got the Volvo but opted for the Megan’s. The EX30 was way too minimalist for me, and I’m 26. I’m not sure who their target demographic is but it’s too stripped back and not enough physical buttons.
Their target demographic is cost cutting.

I’ve viewed many reviews, all made by men. No one mentioned anything about putting kids in the back seats, so it seems women are looking at daily issues they face. Well done, i really liked this one !
Both reviewers are great, but the chemistry between them is bloody brilliant. I had so much fun watching it. Thanks. 😊

Hi. if you want that sort of measurement, Bjorn Nyland has the right TH-cam channel for you. He goes up and down the same road with all sorts of EVs, notes down consumption, temperature, etc. That's how you can find real life range figures.
Thanks very much. I'll check it out
Heat pump is in every spec model outside UK. If the names of the models are: EV3, EV3 Long Range, EV3 Plus Long Range and EV3 GT, then you have a heat pump no matter the trim. Don’t understand why the UK market decided to remove the heat pump.
Not standard here in Finland despite it being a necessity. €1160 option.
@@Whatshisname346 Häh? Vitsailetko!? That’s acctually extremely weird! Here in Sweden all models include heat pump!
Not available in The Netherlands either
Went to Everything Electric and drove the Volvo which was OK. Then tried to get in the rear seat - not a chance! The distance between the back of the driver's seat and the C pillar was shorter than my thigh bone and I'm average height. My taller, but slimmer, son-in-law could just get in but couldn't close the door! He did a test drive in an EV3 last week - it's now top of the list as his next car.
What percent usage of a car do you have rear seat passengers?
These guys are so fun to watch and their reviews are absolutely spot on. I'm sold on the EV3 and want one now.

KIA and Hyundai are on such amazing form right now, I wish one of them would make a small 2 seat roadster
In Amerca, mechanics say No Go for Kia.
I actually prefer plastic dashboard. It's make cleaning and dusting much easier than those new models with fabric/Alcantara dashboard. You can't just wipe the dust off.
Had a mini with alcantara steering wheel, it looks nice, but constant touching soon changes that.
I remember when Alcantara was introduced on some Italian cars in the mid 70’s. Looked ok but it was a dreadful long term option for the reasons already stated here.
Kia wins because they give people a more spacious car with a rock solid infotainment with sensible buttons and switches.

Skoda Elroq should win...
Great report but no mention of battery chemistry? Many, including myself only consider LFP for safety, longevity and 100% charging capability daily.
Data has found that 100% charging daily for LFP still has big impacts on degradation.
And oh, you forgot the V2L (vehicle to load) on the EV3. This is VERY important to me.
I Love the 2 charming reporters, and the review is Brilliant.
But the real rewiev should have between Kia EV3 and Skoda Elroq

@@z00h OK, and I said what I said based on my own experience of owning an EX30. Obviously we have different experiences.
That Ev3 looks really good, I've had the Renault megane e-tech for the last two years, great car, Ev3 could be my next.🙂
Great double act and a great EV3!
You two are FUN! KEEP EM COMING!
It’s really a shame that Kia for some reason decided to make it almost impossible to get heat pump..
In Denmark it is standard in every trim 🤔
It’s just the UK market with the “Air” names that for some reason decided to don’t include heat pumps, supposedly to cut the price a bit.

Personally like the EX30 looks (exterior and interior) better.

I think both are brilliant cars. Head would go with the EV3, heart with the XC30.

An important criterion not to miss is reliability and battery related services. This would be my top priority to choose.
SOOO HAPPY TO SEE NICOLA AGAIN 💓💓
Do you know why the ev5 isn't coming to Europe? Thanks for the review and great content 😊
EV5 has poor charging speed, bettery buy a model Y, Xpeng G6 or BYD Sealion
The EV5 is coming to Europe.
EV3 .. Certainly. Period.😊😊😊
I hadn't thought about the heat pump until the last couple of weeks when my 100% range has dropped from 270 to 185 miles,
All EV manufacturers need to think about the £40K luxury car tax level,
Would it be possible for you to put kms on screen when you’re taking about range?
You should be able to adjust the steering wheel "firmness" in the EX30 settings.
Two great, semi-affordable, electric cars without compromises - if the specs match your checks list, you won't go wrong with any of them ❤
... And the china-build will become a Belgium-build some time next year
So funny (with greetings from Dusseldorf Germany) 🤓
The EV3 is a subcompact, entry-level electric vehicle that's smaller than a Seltos. It's expected to cost less than $35,000 and has a range of 350-450 km per charge.
Had you chosen to test 3 cars, the Skoda Elroq would have been a very strong contender..
I feel like the winning factor of the Volvo is its badge. Brand snobbery is still very common, and is why many people will choose it over the Kia
A Volvo badge on a Chinese car with very poor value compared to the Kia doesn't make it a winner.

Kia totally smashing it at the moment. I've had an EV9 for a few months and it's bloody brilliant.
I'm waiting on the Ioniq9. How many miles/kWh are averaging, or whatever units you use?
@Noah_E I reset the trip a week or so after I got it. Since then I've done 2100 miles @ 2.8 miles / kWh. 1000 of that was 2 long trips on motorways.

I actually forgot it was about the cars... You Ladies made it so much fun!
Great job.
Kia EV3 is a family vechical and EX30 is like a couples vechical, they don't exactly cross shop to me.
I must admit, having gone from the original Ioniq hybrid, to an MG3 hybrid, I do miss the flappy paddles.
My only minor gripe with the EV3 is the charging port location. It should be on the driver's side, not the passenger side. Is the passenger side better for the Tesla superchargers? I heard Tesla will be extending their charging cords to accommodate different EV brands.
Yeah but we don't give Musk our money.
I love the EV3 like I love the Kona but both are lacking 2 things:
- an AWD options with a tad more punch
- a top level line without the fake leather which doesn't age well. Nline Kona EV is great but not available in every country.
I also love the Ex30 but live in Spain and need ventilated seats which you can't spec on it :/
Kia ev3 👍
As an owner of a Kia e-niro (2021) and 2 kids, I cannot imagine fitting everything inside a tiny volvo boot. Also, kia looks better in my opinion, and I think it charges faster if you take into account the battery is larger, which will get you significantly further. I would always choose longer range and space in the boot and back.
Kia have over 1000 EV3's vehicles available for Uber and Bolt drivers as this is a replacement for the Kia Niro. This will undoubtedly affect future residual values for private buyers. Good luck to those who are going to get sucked up on a expensive PCP.
That makes no sense. The EV3 won't be released in the US until the end of next year.
@@AlanTov In case you haven't noticed, all the EV manufacturers are chasing fleet sales because lack of private buyers. The traditional fleet buyer were large corporates but that is not the case anymore because most employees now work from home. With regards to the US, nothing makes sense in the US 🤣🤣
What mad man thought I would be ok to press a button on the touch screen to open the glove box? I mean...why? this is so stupid :D
Two good cars prefer the looks of the Volvo but the Kia still looks nice and does seem to be a better all round package and the two presenters have a good chemistry together and made this video great and fly by
Should compared with a Smart #1!
