    How much water should you be drinking a day? You should be drinking about 25%-50% of your body weight in ounces daily. It’s actually not about how much water you are getting but staying hydrated. Water is vital for your health.
    The biggest side effects of not getting enough water can be headaches, lack of energy, weight gain, lack of cleansing and detoxification, weakened immune response, getting the cold and flu easily, or feeling lethargic. Proper hydration is so important to your overall health. To stay properly hydrated, I have four recommendations.
    First, I would recommend drinking about half of your body weight in ounces a day. I would also suggest you get more fruits and vegetables in your diet, which are full of electrolytes.
    Next, I would recommend consuming all-natural sea salts in your food (Himalayan salt or Celtic salt), which helps your body stay hydrated.
    Lastly, I would encourage you to exercise more. Exercise can support the process of hydration because movement increases circulation, increasing electrolyte levels into your cells.

    Water is good and necessary, but you got to have a right dosage. Too little water can cause dehydration and too much of water can flush out electrolytes and also cause dehydration. Trust your body, it's a smart millions of years old machine which knows what it's doing, so drink when you're thirsty and you'll be fine.

    1. Water, 25 to 50 %
    2. More fruits and veggies
    3. Sprinkle sea salt on food
    4. Exercise 3 to 4 days a week

      Seasalt is actually bad than iodized salt. Seasalt can easily bind with other minerals in the kidney forming a crystal like compound which we call kidney stone. On the other hand the iodized salt contains iodine which helps in the production of hormones in the thyroid glands

      In all fairness,@@blue_cameron, you should direct your question to Dr. Josh Axe because Fit n Fab is only the messenger. I wonder about the need & wiseness of additional salt consumption, too, but Fit n Fab was only notating for the viewership of this video what Dr. Axe said. You did watch the video, right?

      Not sure where you got your info on table salt versus sea salt,@@yujisaito3297, but, to my knowledge, as far as I've heard before, sea salt is what is natural & best rather than manufactured sodium chloride, a.k.a. table salt, the former naturally having iodine while the latter doesn't have iodine naturally.
      I guess we both could investigate it more, eh? I think so.

    Thank you for this helpful information. There is only one thing that I can't understand. My grandmother, my father and my uncle (all elderly members of my father's family) all eat mostly bread and dairy products, very little vegetables and fruit (some potatoes, onions, rice and cabbage, and apples and plums in autumn), meat very rarely, they drink very little water or any liquid, and all of them are always healthy. No disease, no visits to doctors. Grandma is 93, my father is 72 and my uncle is 74. My mother's family eat a lot of meat and vegetables, they also don't drink much water or other liquid, and they live long, but have some cardiovascular diseases when elderly. My generation eats lots of vegetables and fruit, drinks lot of water and almost all of us has some kind of disease (cancer, autoimmune, etc).

    • @milkweedsage
      @milkweedsage 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      straight milk is mostly water. potatoes have some water, especially if they are boiled. onions and cabbage both have quite a bit of water. apples and plums are medium to high in water content. other dairy products have less (especially dry cheeses like parmesan) but most contain enough to contribute to the body's fluid needs.
      health issues of each generation have very different causes, and usually not a single cause. maybe grandma had fresh fruit and veg from her garden (which would have been organic by default) while you have been exposed to a great deal of junk food, or perhaps nonorganic food that has pesticide residues, or maybe it's unrelated to diet entirely and you have an inflammatory process related to an allergy. maybe you've been exposed to a number of carcinogens over a period of time - tobacco smoke for example. there are SO MANY things that go into a disease process. it's also possible to be genetic, but with previous generations the condition was dormant, only to be triggered in your generation. when my ancestors ate their regular diet (which had few vegetables and only seasonal fruit) they were healthy and strong. they started to eat a standard diet and now most of them have, or have died from, diabetes. for us it's genetics loading the gun, but what we feed ourselves is what pulls the trigger.

    I only drink 64 ounces of water a day. I can't drink any more than that because I spend half the day going to the bathroom. I don't know how someone can stay out of the bathroom drinking a hundred 150 ounces of water. these people must have massive bladders.

    • @milkweedsage
      @milkweedsage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      you're right, different people have different sized bladders! it's not just that, though. when i was near 300 lbs it felt like my bladder was the size of a shot glass - i'm 210 now and my bladder is pretty big. i think the amount of intraabdominal fat weighing down on the bladder made a huge difference, pardon the pun.
      another thing that'll make a big difference is what else you eat in the day. on a day when i don't eat a whole lot of fruit and veg i drink a gallon of fluid - mostly water with a significant amount of coffee. on the other hand, if i eat half a pound of canteloupe after my breakfast eggs, that is going to get processed down into nutrients and, yes, a fair bit of water. if i was to eat all the fruit i want, plus veggies and hummus, plus water, i couldn't possibly drink my gallon of fluid. also, physical activity and tendency to sweat will make a difference. i have a medical condition and i sweat out electrolytes way faster than normal people so i have to drink WAY more water and salt to stay hydrated. on a typical day i go to the bathroom twice when i wake up (when i wake, before i leave) and every 2 hours or so in between depending on what i eat and drink.
      you gotta do what's right for YOUR body because it's unique to you.

    • @skylermccloud78
      @skylermccloud78 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Donna Cobb-Fox rather or not you use bathroom is not about how much its about how fast you could drink over 100 and be fine if uts spread through out the entire day in fact if you do that youd go less your bladder is designed to be saturated think of it like sponge as the spinge gets more and more water less water falls off edge and it becomes more absorbed so if you drink allot and spread through out day youll be fine not just fine but actually better

    • @milkweedsage
      @milkweedsage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if it was too much you would know it. you run the risk of a condition called hyponatremia, which is literally a shortage of sodium in the body. i get it every summer because of my medical fun stuff. typically it happens when you sweat a lot, making you lose sodium, and don't replenish sodium (gatorade, pretzels, table salt, anything). at first you don't quite feel right but it can make you feel drunk - stumbling around and slurring - in a hurry. if you've been drinking this much and have not felt ill at all, you're good (but just to be sure, eat vegetables that have natural sodium in it).

      Morbidly obese people need to stop drinking Soda and start drinking water. I bet a lot of them drink over 100 oz in Soda a day easy. Start drinking water, start moving around even if it's just waving your arms around for 15 to 30 minutes. Water will decrease their appetite because your body is sending messages saying it is dehydrated give us water and instead they interpret this as we are hungry eat food.

      you have a point, but don't assume a person guzzles soda just because their BMI is high. mine's over 30 and i had soda 5 times this year (8 oz x 5). i LOVE drinking water. i drink 3-4 litres (3 quarts - 1 gallon) daily plus coffee (milk, no cream or sugar). i allow myself exactly one "treat day" (NOT binge day) per month. obesity can be a complex issue and it's very frustrating to have people assume we're gluttonous and lazy.

    How much water should we drink throughout the day ?

  • @LG-kx8xl

    Your kidneys can eliminate about 5.3-7.4 gallons (20-28 liters) of water a day, but theycan't get rid of more than 27-33 ounces (0.8-1.0 liters) per hour (14, 15). Therefore, in order to avoid hyponatremia symptoms, youshould not drink more than 27-33 ounces (0.8-1.0 liters) of water per hour, on average

    I've gone back and forth with water. I keep hearing or reading it's a myth, you do not need that much water. I use to drink a gallon of water a day, but got tired of it. Now I use a used container of orange juice, that holds 59 ounces. Some of which I mix with apple cider vinegar, and Stevia. Not honey, because honey and water do not mix. That much I can manage. Not every day, but almost every day. If that's not enough, I don't want to know about it.

    I don't even know how people can drink so much water, I had tried my best and is 4 bottles of water (2 litters) each day, is really difficult to do it. but in the other hand 4 beers could be drink really easy no problem. it's like water is really difficult to process on my system.

      oosveluzo levso it happens after getting used to flavor. Example put sugar on your spaghetti every time. After a year you're out of sugar and you try to eat the spaghetti. Not as easy

    Dr. Josh Axe, thanks for the info. That said, "25 to 50% of what one's body weight is is how much water should be drank"? Really? "25%," maybe, & that still sounds like on the high end.
    I'm trying to remember if this is the same thing Dr. Eric Berg recommends, though I think it probably isn't because he, per videos I've seen of him on the subject, is against what he considers drinking "too much water."
    Anyway, I suppose it all comes down to knowing what is moderation & abiding with that.
    One question more, actually. When one increases one's water consumption to often, he or she will tend more to want to urinate more. What if the urge to urinate is as frequent as within only minutes from the most recent time? Is the water even getting a chance to go anywhere except the bladder?
    Oh, I should add, one thing I've heard before Dr. Berg but have heard him say & perhaps you have elsewhere, too, is that lemon can be juiced into the water for drinking to enrich it with electrolytes.
    Anyway, all the best!
