    This is a seriously impressive ratchet! Not only is it insanely strong but having the ability to casually rebuild the internal components after applying 300+ lbs of torque is ridiculous!

    • @ClientGraphics
      @ClientGraphics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s pretty slim and narrow and ever so smaller than even a Snapon F80. Definitely he first selector I have had to punch out but still pretty easy to repair.

    • @monkeybutler90
      @monkeybutler90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ClientGraphics It actually doesn't need to be punched out. There is a lip or groove on the selector switch that you have to spin around to get it out.

    I really appreciate the quantitative tests you do for backdrag and gear slack. A lot of cheap ratchets advertise high tooth count, implying good angular resolution only to be offset and ruined by excessive slack. A sort of 2 steps forward, 1 step back thing. Very annoying when working in a limited space.

    • @ClientGraphics
      @ClientGraphics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just wait till we get to one of the 120 dual pawl ratchets. I did a gear slack multiple times and definitely felt like the marketing lied to me.

  • @smacfe

    Wow, fantastic test! It shows that you have really put an enormous effort into expanding your testing by designing a full compliment of tests to understand these tools. That plus the great video production is much appreciated.

    So glad to see this and that it performed so well! I recommended this on you other videos and was glad to find it now! A torture test of the x-frame ratchet wrenches would be awesome to see as well! They are still planning on keeping production in the USA! However they are moving their manufacturing to Pennsylvania! Another rumor I heard was that they may be coming to Lowes!

      I dunno. Them egg rollers do a better job of making chrome stuck than SP(superpeel) ever did. They should have gotten Wright to design their 120 tooth(or whatever) cartridge they finally got around to. They had it correct when the tuff 1 was around. Needed a spring redesign...not redesign, simple wire gauge differences and hardening/tempering and an oil hole...that's it. It was near perfection(enter NEXT owners)

    I bought one of these a while back and I was really bummed with the amount of back drag and the fact that you have to twist the anvil as you move the selector switch to get it to change directions. If you don't work the anvil the switch won't budge. The good news is after a fair bit of use the back drag seems better and I really enjoy the handle for some reason.

      We (in the USA) contributed to this. I bought my first S-K tool (used) 60 years ago. Then, that was the brand shade tree mechanics wanted. Over the years, a lot of people who weren’t brought up right started buying imported brands. Before this sale, S-K had become so rare that you had to know where to find the brand, if you wanted it. Most people never heard of it. They were just buying whatever Home Depot sold.

      @ClientGraphics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ICON fixed head ratchet tested by hand at 276.3 ft-lbs and the new ICON flex-head has the same internals and maxed at 290.6 ft-lbs. While that is only one single point of data I estimate there could be a 0-15% difference by manual testing vs machine output. However the highest number I know tested on a machine that was calibrated still only produce 305 ft-lbs and that was a SnapOn. I’ll test a SnapOn by the end of the year. Would like to get MAC and Matco tested first

      Wayne was the machining era. Tolerances and hardnesses were good. It'd be neat to torture a Wayne but they've already been tortured 60 years.. They lacked in cosmetic detail, like Proto, Williams use to. Wartime eras. Everything was like that except Snap. Even the $200/spork Pentagram didn't get a strap on much. Maybe Air Force kids had some Snaps ? Army corps had Proto, Wright and some Bonney for beating on machinery/tanks and stuff
