    this is gonna be a chill one yo. I spent the last couple of weeks jamming with this particular combo and I just wanted to make a video about it.
    I'll cover how to: connect the Elektron Digitakt and Behringer TD-3 via MIDI and audio; set the MIDI preferences on the TD3; set the MIDI preferences on the Digitakt (it is trickier than I thought); sequence notes on the Digitakt sequencer in a way the emulates the iconic TB-303 sequencer, including accents and slides.
    lovely lil jam at the end guaranteed.

    I recently started doing this with my Digitakt and TD-3.
    Just a hint on monitoring, instead of using the Direct In to monitor, you should use the mixer inputs. You'll have a delay and reverb as well as panning to add to the TD-3 signal

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      thank you! would you mind outlining how to do that?

    • @NoizCode
      @NoizCode ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@BIGUMAMI Sure thing.
      Press and hold Func, then press LFO button(master) 3 times. You'll be in the External Mixer page and will have access to the input volume, panning, delay send, and reverb send. You also have the option to make the 2 inputs into 2 separate mono inputs or a stereo input.

    instead of pressing all the notes to copy... try holding the page button and press the record button to copy the whole page in sequencer mode. soooo much easier than the spider Hand.

    I love the 303 sequencer. I just treat it like a colab with a human instead of trying to get something specific. I choose notes and tool around with the rhythm til it’s cool.

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes, that is the classic, and possibly absolute best way to use it! but unfortunately for me since I discovered Luke Vibert, I found out that being more deliberate and thoughtful with the 303 yields incredibly musical results. like having a full jazzy chord progression and actually write a bassline that complements it... he's the absolute 303 goat!

    • @koalemos1679
      @koalemos1679 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BIGUMAMI This is a big fact too. It’s why I’ve been meaning to play with sequencing my T-D3 externally. That and picking up a few more of the 303s that are out there. I kinda want them all 🫠

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@koalemos1679 I know right? I picked this one up cosit was cheap but I kinda want the avalon which is stupid expensive!

    • @koalemos1679
      @koalemos1679 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BIGUMAMI The Avalon looks dope but it’s way out of my price range. I kinda want the TB-3 touch bass. It’s kinda silly but it has way more than just a square or saw wave and it’s a Roland so you know they got the articulation correct. The envelope and how it responds to slides or tied notes can make or break a 303.

    • @boriscat1999
      @boriscat1999 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it takes practice, you have to input a sequence a note at a time then play it. you can't change it while it's playing. once you have a nice set of patterns you can do everything else in real time. you can pick a range of patterns to play in a loop, tweak the knobs, transpose up/down by notes or octaves, pick any pattern for next turn around the loop. It kind of assumes you have a bass line in mind and you're just going to copy it from tab or sheet music, rather than being something interactive. (the original Roland TB-303 actually shows how to input sheet music, one note at a time, into it)

    What makes the tb 303 really shine is the sequencer bro

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well... it depends. if your goal is to make 1-bar acid, oh my god, yes, so many happy accidents can happen literally only thanks to the sequencer.
      if you have like a 4 bar a chord progression, and you're trying to be more deliberate, trying to write a sequence that fits in the progression and makes sense harmonically, THAT is a pain in the ass

    • @davidpinto1195
      @davidpinto1195 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BIGUMAMI you can link patterns on clones too, I think depends more on the genre but I digress

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidpinto1195 yeah you can definitely chain patterns on the td3, as I do in another video, I meant like... 4 bars are 64 notes. If you wanna have a bassline that glues well with your chord progressions, that's a LOT of notes. hours of trial and error. not ideal aha
      and also, what in the sequencer make the 303 great imho are the accents and the slides, mostly. you can replicate that easily in most sequencers as shown in the video.

    Hello!
    How you define the pitch in TD 3, only by ear?
    Please, could you tell me how you do it?

    • @michele709
      @michele709 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All to the left means -1 octave. In the center you have normal octave and hard right means +1 octave. If you want to be sure you’re on pitch use hard left or right and then program pitch from your sequencer
