The part that that you describe your feeling when you jam, like being in a meditative state, totally resonates with me and is the main reason that i'm in this dawless jamming thing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Kostisv. I'm happy to know other people are also reaching that place through music. And yes, I agree. That is so hard to achieve when staring at a screen and interacting with the sound through mouse and computer keyboard. Computers have their place in the music making process. But as far as I'm concerned that should primarily be on the back end. Anyway, welcome! And thank you for stopping by. Much appreciated.
Really cool stuff man. Somewhere, Cthulu has been awoken following your performance. I'm not sure I've ever heard a 303 used like that, really impressive.
Thanks Mir, much appreciated! It does feel like it summons something big and ancient, doesn't it. Don't think I have ever heard a 303 pushed in this direction either. Which is why wanted to try. Turns out that little box is pretty good at it. :)
Awesome stuff. The Model D dropped in price so I finally got one and then the TD-3-MO dropped in price as well. Almost can't not buy it for the €158 euro it is now, lol. Was wondering if I could use it for ambient\drone, seems like I can! Gotta look into flanger\phaser stuff a bit better as well though, the Zoom MS 70CDR has got some but it felt a bit underwhelming at a first glance. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!
Haha, yes I suppose so. I haven't been in a carwash for a long, long time. But I used to love it as a kid. Hadn't thought of that experience in ages. Thanks for reminding me!
Coill! Now there is a name I haven't heard in a minute. They were a bit before my time. But I had a band member once who was deeply into their music. So I've heard quite a bit of it. I always loved their album title "Black Light District". Such a evocative name. I'm gonna listen to some tonight. Thanks for reminding me of their existence Matt!
Thank you Lysettel. Yes indeed, drones are an important part of music. And have been for centuries. For example (church) organs didgeridoos and my personal favourite, the hurry gurdy. I love the sound of that instrument! Like a massive, harmonically rich sawtooth oscillator.
@@Vingul Yes!!! Nyckelharpa make beautiful sounds. Through, I mostly know it from Hedningarna, a Swedish folk, electronics rockband from the turn of the century. Man, they were good! Gonna listen to them now. Anyway, now you mentioned it I really want to play with a nyckelharpa.
@@electronictiger Nice! I’m somewhat familiar with Hedningarna. I think I have several of their albums on disk, should check them out more. I’m Norwegian, and nøkkelharpe (as we call it) isn’t as common here, though it’s also a small part of our folk tradition. My all-time favourite instrument is hardingfele (Hardanger fiddle), then there’s also langeleik (a Norwegian kind of dulcimer), but I was reminded of nyckelharpa as you mentioned the hurdy-gurdy. I want to add, and this is very a propos drones again, that the Irish uilleann pipes is another favourite. Northumbrian smallpipes as well. Appreciate the folk music/electronic music crossover chat as these are my two biggest obsessions, lol.
@@electronictiger P.S., and I hope this doesn’t come across as self-serving in any way, I have opploaded (mangled spelling in case the website should object) quite a bit of stuff that’s relevant to the conversation, in case you should feel inclined to have a gander. My MO is arriving tomorrow, been watching all sorts of demos but this stood out. Ive also got a TD3 and the plan was to make blaring acid techno but now... not so sure... acid drone?
Thank you Osvos! Go for it! Let acid drone become a real genre. Be sure to post a link if you do. I would love to hear what you made with it. Anyway, have fun with your new toy!
Thanks Cosmolopez! Happy to hear you're enjoying it. The trick is a combination of both fast and slow notes so the overlap and melt together. And high amounts of feedback on a delay is your friend.
That's awesome! I love this sort of droney dark ambient stuff, but never would've thought the 303 could do it. What sort of midi notes are you sending it? I don't hear any note attacks, so it's almost like one long note.. But maybe it gets lost in the reverb/delay wash? Nice work man... I am inspired to try something similar now.
Thanks Dave, I am very happy to hear that. Even more so that it inspires you to try your own take on it. Please do! It's been a few month since I did this jam. But if memory serves me right I had a sequence of fast 16th notes going into the TD-3-MO. Think I had 4 different patterns that I could switch between. And much longer notes into the regular TD-3. They blend together in the high feedback delay wash indeed. Which is the core of the sound, really. The key is to keep adjusting the parameters so it doesn't become a screaming feedback mess. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and happy music making!
Yes! I agree with you. I've been wanting the Habit pedal for quite a while now. Seems like a lot of fun, like all Chase Bliss pedals, really. They're not exactly cheap, so I haven't gone for it...(yet).
@electronictiger for such a dynamic pedal, with so many features and so many different dip switching options. They aren't that expensive. The hologram micro is another option for turning the sinple dry into the complex layers and euphoria... there are so many interesting stereo pedals these days....
@@electronictiger check out how much of a difference some well timed and quality delays and reverbs make to some arps that are boring and dull when dry.

cool stuff, not what I normally go for, but totally what I was into for 7 minutes and 47 seconds there
