  • 8 Ways to Deal With a Narcissistic Child. In this video we'll discuss eight ways to handle narcissistic children. You'll learn tips and tricks to help you with dealing with narcissistic kids.
Most people, parents or not, know that raising a teenager or young adult can be the most challenging time. Many teens are trying to find their way in the world and going through many changes in the process. This can lead to impulsive actions and self-centered attitudes. What most parents don't realize is that narcissism usually begins in the teenage years or early adulthood, so it is very important that teenagers live in a stable and attentive home. It can be hard to tell the difference between narcissism and a teenager just being self-centered. Unfortunately, some parents have to face the reality and ask themselves, "What can I do if my child is a narcissist?" This question is never easy to answer because you don't have all the facts. There isn't a parent who does. Each child is different, but this video will tell you about some ways to help cope with a narcissistic child.

I'm too scared to even watch this video through because it breaks my heart. I could never, in my lifetime have imagined before 2021, that my child was a covert narcissist, with every characteristic that comes with that description.

I’m 19 and a vulnerable narcissist, I have been kicked out of my parents house for a few days but then was allowed back in. That was what I needed. I have hurt everyone in my life since the day I was born, and from now on I am trying to make myself less narcissistic and to be a better person as a way to atone for the hurt i caused, even though it’ll never be enough. I don’t expect forgiveness and neither should any narcissist. If you live with a narcissist, leave them, do not feel guilty as it’ll just enable them and you’re just hurting yourself. I know owe my parents everything, they shouldn’t have let me back in and have another chance, but it’ll only hurt them if i’m gone for good or if i’m dead

Although I cannot fully empathize with a narcissist of any sort, I can at least imagine parallels in my own ego and mindset. It had to have taken an astonishing amount of painful self discovery and effort on your part to even acknowledge what you have said and intend on doing. My daughter is 12 and she is, well, so awful that it used to blow my mind, she created false allegations against me, lied to her psychiatrist, therapist and her school, all because I took her computer away. I had to leave my OWN HOME that I bought and paid for, for 90 days until a sharp prosecutor noticed the stereotypical narcissistic traits so common with false accusations. My daughter very shortly found out about the world of pain and confusion she created all by herself, but even after she recanted her delusions, I still had to remain out of the house for months. I already told her if she ever does it again, she will be a ward of the state, foster care immediately. I wish I knew how to get through to her, but she clearly doesn't want help, she's destroying enough on her own and she's only 12. Be good to your parents because if you put them through even 10% of what mine has put me through, it subtracts an incredible amount of life from our tab, I went from jet black hair to salt and pepper in a matter of 2 years.

This was great. We adopted our son when he was 5, he is now 13, and in addition to his ADHD, ODD- or Oppositional Defiant Disorder ( It began as RAD- or Reactive Attachment Disorder) and IED or Intermittent Explosive Disorder we are concerned that like his bio mother he also has Narcassistic Personality Disorder. ( Although his psychiatrist suspects Antisocial Personality Disorder). He is a pro at gas-lighting, even his teachers , and although we do many of these. The one we have struggled the most is picking our battles. Sometimes it's just hard. This gives us hope and also makes us feel less crazy 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😔

My son was diagnosed with ODD in early childhood. He is now 27 and it's hell dealing with him. I'm curious if your son has lying issues? My is a compulsive liar and the things he makes up are so crazy! He exaggerates almost everything and has admitted to having issues with lying but won't stop. In fact its getting worse. He explodes at me even when I help him. Plays victim to the point where he puts the guilt trip on me and says I don't care if he dies. Curious if you are experiencing lying issues?

Mine is 13 and I’m ready to give up sometimes. She chooses to live with her father that verbally abuses me. She does the same. I want to walk away. I raised her all her life and she decided at 12 that she didn’t want to live with me anymore and she was tired of her siblings.

Same here. She is 14 and a copy and groomed by him. She moved to his place. I hope she will not get ptsd as I did and autoimmune diseases. I’m staying out. Can’t hados it more. Maybe when she grows older and get mentally and psychologically traumatized she will wake you up. I’m a wreck. I used to be successful, loved my life. Had a very good income before I had kids with him. I put it in Gids hand. I cry myself to sleep every night ‘. It’s a 14 years sold nightmare m. She has forgotten all the things he did to her when she was a kid. I had to protect her. He has lots of money and he buys here everything. She is so manipulated m. He is a cover narcissist

I have twin sons who are identical. One son has always been more aggressive and bossy than the other one. He has had a certain energy about him that other kids would avoid challenging him, they picked on my non-aggressive son instead or revenge. They say that narcissism arises from a tragic event in that person's life. We are their natural parents. We never separated, no divorce or brought home issues our children would have struggled with. My husband and did not drink or take drugs. We made sure to resolve our difference away from our children and when they went to bed. We didn't think his aggressive manner was an issue. My husband and I were both single children in our families. We were told that sibling rivalry was normal and not to interfere.bWe let them resolve their issues on their own, except when it went too far and they would throw blows at each other. When they became teenagers my husband, now deceased told me he had some reservations about that son. I dismiss it as him just being a teenager. Soon my husband told me to handle him because he couldn't. So, I was the parent in charge of calming down my son's aggressive nature. He has always been a bit abrasive. And about two years ago my tongue slipped out of frustration. We were discussing some issue he found online that I found ridiculous. My disagreement was not an option, it was a demand. When I refused, I began receiving verbal attacks and called all sorts of names. He managed to get my other son to agree with him. I still talk to my non-aggressive son, but he has formed an opinion of me that his brother formed for him. Some of the things said about me is offensive and they say it to my face. I'm "the enemy". I try to stay calm, not let my ego lash back in defense and just ignore those mean comments. Sometimes I feel like I'm having an interaction like Father Karras with the demon in 'The Exorcist' that possessed that little girl. Looking back I now see what my husband was talking about. I feel guilty now because I think I contributed to his behavior by dismissing it when he was still a teenager. I never encountered that problem until that discussion I had with him about some belief he had that I found ridiculous. I can't go back and correct things now, can I.
