Larian had promised not to make any DLC and just deliver a full complete game back when it launched. If only more studios followed this formula, maybe the video game industry wouldn't be in the sad state it's currently in as there's only so much greedy corporate blood sucking ppl will tolerate before enough is enough..
There was no promise of no DLC, they seemed open to it, said they had discussions and ideas but would not say whether it would happen or not, which means they were probably always unsure.
The decision was made later and once that was decided they let us know.
@alftuvik3820 They said so at launch. Maybe along the way they considered it as there was a demand for more Baldur's Gate 3, but ultimately they stuck to their original stance..
Even Rockstar with rdr2 and gta 6 is lacking everything.

Why do they need to do any more? The game already has more content than 99% of games and is considered by most to be the gold standard of crpgs. Games don't need to keep getting updates forever.

Of course larian studios isn't going to work on the sequel for right now and who would blame them Baldur's Gate 4 for the next game in the series could be announced in around 10 years this game now has modded support Baldur's Gate 3 technically last a lifetime
WOTC own the IP, they're already shopping around for a new studio to make bg4.

let's be honest if it wasn't for wotc being numb skulls i'm sure larian would of loved to make an expac or more constant updates but it's clear they want to focus on their own IPs now and make even better games in diff worlds.

Larian has launched a complete game, it does not require any DLC's. The fact that they keep updating the game and adding new stuff for free is a testement to their virtuosity. They have delivered us a lot more than most companies, and Baldur's Gate 3 is a generational game.
BG3 almost complete because every single character has it own story and every character is playable, with 6 characters not included The Dark Urge the playing time can easily exceed 200+ hours play time just to go through all dialogues and unique story line. It still not complete because it still lack something like crafting because you can do alchemy but not crafting which is weird.

Is it good? HELL YES and you don't need to play the previous game to understand 3 but if you still want to try it, sure give it a go
@@gambello1195 yes all 3 games are great. I've beaten them all, but BG1-BG2 are 20+ year old games. The UI is dated and the old style of d&d is harder to understand. It's easier for new people to jump into 3 and if you're really curious, go back to 1. BG1-2 were very influential and successful crpgs. If you can handle the crunchiness of the old games, watch a video on them to learn more.

@@gambello1195 No. Not necessary. Just start with BG3. It's an AMAZING game for people liking turn based role playing games. Think Divinity Original Sin 2 on steroids.
It's a good game, especially now that it's been patched multiple times since release. You also don't need to play BG1 or BG2 before playing BG3. The story in BG3 is a standalone, and you wouldn't really miss a lot if you didn't play the previous games. There are minor connections, of course, but those really won't affect your overall enjoyment of the game.
"BG3 Patch 7 has now added official modding support"|...those disappointed about not getting an official DLC expansion need not worry...the modding community always comes through for us.

The old adage comes in. Sometimes, it's best to end it on a high. Well done Larian! I've played over 350 hours (Yeah, not as much as most) but its one of the greatest game experiences ever. Its made a disillusioned gamer like me have fun again!

There is simply no game like Baldurs Gate 3. It's an amazing game that has a captivating story, fantastic immersive voice acting with challenging, tactical, yet flexible gameplay that has mechanics that conveys the idea of adaptability and freedom in everything you do that will immerse you in the world and will grab and hold your attention all day! Larian Studios has definitely delivered. It's sad to see them move on from this franchise. But onto the next project!

You clearly forgot to mention the predatory behavior of WOTC/Hasbro. They want to squeeze every penny from every D&D material, and they want to silence every competition. That's why the GM mode never arrived in BG3 even though DoS2 has it.
Hasbro is the reason. Larian know they are super greedy, and this without bg3 succes. Money are important, reputation is 10 times more important
its a absolute great and fantastic game but to me its divinity original sin 3 and not baldurs gate, the graphic style just doesnt fit the universe of BG, it makes it a bit watered down and turn based combat should have been optional
If WOTC had any brains at all they'd offer Larian complete creative freedom, throw money at them and tell them to make whatever they want so long as they take a cut of the profits.
Remember when everyone said they had to move up their release date to avoid starfield?

So...they ditched their critically successful project to work on smth...less stressful and demanding? But at the same time setting even higher standards? Fair enough, but that sounds like ditching not just a successful project, but a huge chunk of reputation. Great games are hardly ever easy projects. Overall a decision that is hard to understand from a business perspective.
Clearly they had issues with wotc but didn't just say it. It's baffling how they aren't doing any expansions for the game. Doing an expansion is 100% a surefire way to guarantee instant success without even reworking the engine, codes, etc. It's the easiest thing in the world to do to generate another 10 million copies sales. Also, them saying they're bruned out makes no sense. They previously stuck in the divinity world for 20 years. Now suddenly 6 years making their so called dream project is too much? Nah.

It’s bullshit. They need to fix the achievements on the game. 250 hours and my achievements are split between Steam and Xbox.
Tbh you could tell they were over it as soon as they started doing Act3. Act3 was way too much and nothing at all. It was messy compared to the previous 2 Acts.
They did not cancel anything. They clearly communicated from the get go that there will be none. Maybe stop lying, IGN.
They seemed open to it and would discuss the possibility, when asked about DLC they said there were things being planned and discussed, but would not confirm whether there would be DLC or not. Wizards of the coast probably wanted them to, so it was probably in the plans before they cut ties.
At the video game awards hogwarts got buried because of jk's big mouth even so out sold bg3 3x the amount yet it's blacklisted for coverage

In the future, when there will be more advanced studies about how much marketing and ads can affect one's perception of a product, BG3 will probably be used as one of the best examples of how you can brainwash an entire generation of gamers into believing it's a masterpiece.
How is it not? Yeah their advertisement did loads to help that's how you sell a game. It also helps to get a full game at launch with no micro transactions along with that thought cemented by the game devs behind it
