There has been a lot of hype around the new Zhiyun Smooth 4 smartphone gimbal. And its for good reason, the hardware is great. But I feel the Zhiyun Smooth 4 could be better is its ZY Play app had better stability and active tracking. Even though I really like the Zhiyun Smooth 4's zoom wheel, I still wish there was a joystick for for tilt and pan movements. But still if you're a mobile phone film maker the Zhiyun Smooth 4 is still a great tool to have.

Looks like Zhiyun had only Apple users in mind while developing the zhiyun play app and zhiyun smooth 4 gimbal, its hopeless for Android users the zoom is not smooth even the focus puller doesnt work sometimes.The video recorded from the app looks like crap.The assistant app from another phone never connects to the smooth 4,I own a Lg v30 and it was a nightmare to use it with zhiyum smooth 4.Finally got rid of the smooth 4 and equipped myself with a smooth 3 which is 100 times better than the smooth 4 with android phone,the zhiyun assistant works and even we have full manuall control of all axis movement with the joystick so we can utilize the full potential of stock camera.I suggest all android users not to get smooth 4 instead buy the much cheaper one smooth 3 .

KryptoSpyder I also have a smooth 3 for my V30 , main problem with the app is that it goes out of focus! Recording motion time lapse is a nightmare and there is no support for 4k motion time lapse. Motion tracking is an insult, making the gimbal go crazy. It's a shame from Zhiyun, I have also contacted them and they have quite rudely stated that they do not have any plan on supporting the V30
Using the built-in camera app is fine, but the zoom wheel is unusable, and of course there is no way to use motion time lapse nor motion tracking
Dear Android Users: Don't buy the smooth-4 (at this point in time)! The android app is buggy. The default camera app is not supported (Samsung S6). Filmic Pro (Camera App) crashes every time. The remote control (ZW-B02) don't work as expected (can't connect to the smooth-4 while the gimbal is connected to the phone at the same time). The remote control app is not as expected (no way to pan the camera, only tilt is working). There is no joystick!!! Tracking is useless.
i think you need to learn how to walk with it, you're just walking normally.. you cant do that, it wont produce the best images

does anyone know if you can use the ZHIYUN Assistant APP with the Smooth 4?

Zhiyun makes charging cables micro to right angle lightning so you can charge from the smooth 4. They actually sent me one for free after I purchased it. They make them both for iOS and Android. Keep in mind it needs to be a right angle lightning plug for it to work as the charging port sits at the bottom of the cradle. It throws the balance off when I tried it the first time but I think you can manually calibrate it within the app for it to work. It’s out of range with just adjusting the knobs.
I am disappointed to see there are no physical controls for tilting and panning, i might still go for an older model or a Dji one
Zy play app don't work well with Samsung s9+ no 4k recording! Only 720p

Those intro movements were so smooth, the osmo def can't turn like that. I'm torn between this and the Freefly movi. Leaning towards the Movi.
If you have an iPhone, go for it.
I dont recommend zhiyum smooth 4 especially for android users! Waste of money
