Evan Thomas Hey Evan! I just purchased the Smooth 4! I’ve had a problem when starting to record in forward mode. The app completely shuts down. If I record using the selfie camera it’s fine. Also, I thought I was able to switch views when recording from forward to selfie view.
I owned this equipment for two years now. And watched many TH-cam tutorials, still I have not found any helpful video. Hopefully your video will helped me like this smooth 4 better. Thanks

Regarding battery time, you’re right - but it charges back up super fast if you hook it to your mophie charger. Like, way fast.

I just got one and can't the app to work AT ALL on iphone or Android. The hardware gets great review on Amazon and the app gets horrible reviews. So disappointed

Hi Wasim, this Zhiyun Smooth 4 is good for focus and zoom wheel but Osmo 2 is much better because of tracking follow and joystick. In my case I got the second one.

When in "Selfie Mode", the gimbal will not FLIP the image resulting in all written words on a shirt or photo to be BACKWARDS. How is this adjusted? When the camera is NOT in the gimbal, the Selfie works fine and "flips" the image so it is all readable.

I got myself a new smooth 4 2 days back. everything works fine but when I put the gimbal in lock mode and move the Handle towards extreme left or right, it starts vibrating badly. I have seen few videos where in this was happening with Crane 2, but can you please tell me if this is related to any Gimbal error? Maybe need to get it replaced?

I filmed some footage using the ZY play app on Zhiyun 4 + Iphone 8 and when I try to download the clips to my Imac through Photos it says "this item cannot be added to your Photo library because it may be an unrecognizable file format". How do you get your footage onto your Mac?
I must be missing something. Many people are saying how clear the video is, but I think the title is missleading, kind of clickbait. You didn't show anything about setting up. It's not a tutorial, you are showing off the features, but not showing how to start using it.

I am so disappointed that all of these ads and tutorials fail to mention that this thing DOES NOT work with Android phones!! They say "Smart Phone" in ALL of the vids when they should emphatically say iPhone!!! Mine won't calibrate. Focus wheel doesn't work. It won't stay stable for more than 5 mins before it goes completely LIMP! AND absolutely no 4K recording!! The ZY App is "available" for Android phones but it won't work at all like you think. Your Gimbal will do NONE of the cool stuff you see in these videos!!! ZHIYUN Smooth 4 ONLY WORKS WITH iPHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might you have any idea why my Smooth 4 keeps going into standby mode? I'm in the middle of a video, or using the camera, and BAM....it just dies and falls asleep. And I can't wake it up. And I'm NOT putting into the clicked-in position that's supposed to be "quick standby"...I'm terrified to use this thing if it's going to keep conking out!

Sorry but may I ask you about why are you promoting this product? I have had nothing like problems, famous red light error, with it and the app that comes with it is not worth it as a professional tool. I do my filmic using FilMIC Pro so there is no need for this ZHIYUN NON_SMOOTH 4.
Hi Evan, I just bought a Smooth 4 on Amazon and the Record button doesn't seem to work. Is there any indication on the screen to know that the phone is actually filming. I'm using the ZY Play app with an iPhone 11 Pro IOS 15.
Very good video. Has the joystick firmware update been added since you post your review. Also what is the Smooth Mobile - is it an older model or newer model? I found it on the Zhiyun site for $159. I could not find the Smooth Mobile on Amazon but the Zhiyun website has it for $159. Where can I find it for lower cost? Also, does the Smooth 4 have an telescoping stick-I liked

The ZH play app doesnot work with all andriod mobiles. Check the mobile list at their homepage before buying this. I can tell you that this gimbel has a bad app right now and need to be updated. Too much bugs. Their developers are not so fast to update the app. The app doesnot work with my ASUS zenfone 3, 4 and 5. It freezes for no reason. Buy DJI osmo 2.

Is Zhiyun likely to come out with an "all weather" gimbal with "Auto-tracking"; with all the features available on the Zhiyun Smooth 4? My reason for mentioning this is; my "one-man" VLOG commentary, without a cameraman.
If you use the 3x3 panoramic photo mode, what resolution do you get on the final image?
Tried on my iPhone 7 Plus and only got 2054x804 pixels. And i set my photo resolution to max and that is 4096x2304 pixels.
I am having vivo pro17 mobile. The vision is sometimes obstructive while using zhiyun smooth 4.
Some other TH-camr mentioned this issue. Are you aware of this? Could you please advise? TIA
The specs I've seen (Amazon product description) say that the Smooth 4 payload capacity is 210g. Where did you get the information that it supports 500g?

Nice video, thanks.Instead of using a joy stick I use the triggers to qo into full follow/fast mode and move the gimbal so the camera is at the orientation I want it then let go of the trigger - this sets it quickly for both pan follow and lock mode.

I'm new to this type of stuff.. I see you seen to know what your talking about.. I bought the smooth Q first and it had problems with my phone.. Note 20 ulta.. So I bought the Smooth 4 and it's like totally different that the Q which I liked it's features. So my question to you is which gimble should I now buy that will fit my phone and give me the most bang for my buck.. I really don't care about the price I just want something that will work without ordering 5 or 6 more of these things and just have them laying around.. I'm not going to shoot any full length movies..lol I honestly just wanted to play around while I walk my dog in the mornings.. lol .. I have been retired for 4 years now and I just turned 50.. and I know that sounds stupid but I'mso bored and a guy can only play so much golf....

When I received it, I was all set to use it with my Note 8. Unfortunately, the android app is terrible, the Gimbal doesn't stay connected to my phone's bluetooth or connect automatically, the gimbal is difficult to stabilize.

Do you know what is happening with the ZY Play app? Since about a week ago, it does not work anymore. I have no way of using the gimble, the screen on my phone is just black. I notice quite a few other people are complaining about the same thing.

Evan. would you suggest this unit for use with my Iphone 11 and moment 18mm ? my other option is using my existing DJI Ronin S along with the same camera ,moment lens but also a cage to mount to the Ronin. this is for real estate quickie 60 vids. This unit seems to really connect control wise to the phone app and phone and i dont think the Ronin S would do that. are these active buttons a huge help?
If the Micro USB port is to charge your phone, then you would need a double-ended micro USB cable...or a dongle...
Hi Evan. Thanks for this video. I just bought one from Amazon U.S. (for $119 mind you. :-) ) and it just arrived yesterday, just in time for an 8-day cruise which will start tomorrow. I also discovered this gimbal can be used in conjunction with a Google Play Store app, Filmora Pro. If they have this same app available on your iPhone it would be nice to see a video walk through of your using that app in conjunction with the Zhiyun gimbal. Thanks.
When you use 3x3 photo mode, did you have normal panorama photo? Because more people have only center line photo. I have only one moment normal 3x3 panorama photo, then I touch on phone screen 1-line, 2 line, and 3 line at the photo moment. And I have 3x3 normal photo, but it is not good.
I have a Samsung J-3 version 7.0 (small phone) had to balance it slightly off the rubber stop only way red flag right there somethings wrong. Got it balanced that way .Will the ZY Play APP be compatible with this phone I dont think so. Didnt buy it for the ZY Play App just steady videos for my TH-cam channel for now .Will upgrade to better phone soon to use the ZY APP if thats the case regards Glenn

There are some compatible issue's with my mobile device One plus 6T with this smooth 4. As I am anable to connect it through bluetooth.How can i fix it.
Nice demo but questions: 1. why is the focus not sharp "at the end" but at 8.7? (see 5:00) 2. show 7:35 and further; show the image on the screen, that's what you are talking about. And so more of the demo... People must have this stab. otherwise this demo is much less useful. This is a pitty because your voice and tempo are really good. But "everything you know" ? I hope you can tell me (I can 't find it anywhere) what means the sun in the screen left under? (klick to change into black or orange) What is the function of the arrow (near the sun) when touching/hoovering the screen and after a while the stab. starts making movements. What is it doing? And how to calibrate the focus for it is not 100%? (see 5:00) I suddenly found a menu in wich I could calibrate the balance and focus but I can 't find it anymore... If you ca answer this you will be great and I wil be very great-full! Thanks!

I had just bought this and have never used or even heard of a gimbal before. I have one question for you. I have a channel that use for playing guitar covers. Do you have any advice that would help me make better videos for my covers? I'm like very not talented with making good videos. But I would really like to learn how to and not just guitar covers. But like taking videos of my dog or anything that interests me in the moment. Appreciate any advice that you might be able to help me out with. Thank you.
The double tap on the back button to reset and flip, that doesn't work on the first try, like you have to tap more twice, does that happen to anyone else?
does it have it inception mode? where as it records it does a 360° loop for a cool effect, and will a sony dsc rx 100 fit in the gimble?
Great item for non android users, also have had some issues balancing i Did not notice right away so I'm hoping it isn't an issue with just mine, no matter what phone or amount of time I try to balance it, the final product Is always slightly very small amount off to the point where you can see it in videos
I can't get a straight answer on the compatibility of with the Note 8 is it fully compatible? Are there any problems that you know of with it and the Note 8 I want to get one but uncertain if my Note 8 will work with it with out issues / problems

Why does the apple playlist say to NOT download the app? There is a comment/warning that they are trying to gather all your material by using the app? Can anyone elaborate on this?
You forgot to mention that it does not work with iPhone ultra wide within the app. I have to use my regular phone app to shoot ultra wide and tap the screen to record. You have to tilt it forward to not see the gimbal in the wide shot but it's no big deal because I prefer a lower angle. I have their DSLR gimbal too and highly recommend both. This is a much lighter load compared to the DSLR gimbal - perfect for real estate and your back on longer days.
Yo my gimbal is falling to one side when on. Like the motors can’t handle the weight and one of the blue lights turn red when that happens. Any idea what it can be?

By the way just for your education, the little symbol in the lower left is called "the center of effort" and is a graphic symbol most used in graphic arts and engineering. A crosshair or bull's eye has concentric rings.
