I haven't been following him for long and I am not sure If there was a change of heart/attitude in his case or whether he identified the genocidal intentions of Israel from the beginning of the Israeli assault or even before. The original administrative region (not a country) of Palestine was divided by the UN into Israel in the west of the land and Jordan in the East. Shortly after partition Jordan illegally occupied the west bank of the river jordan and part of Jerusalem. In the 6 day war, Israel won it back. Then in the peace treaty between Jordan and Israel, Jordan relinquished all control over the west bank back to Israel. Similarly in Gaza, it was controlled by Egypt who handed it back to Israel as part of their peace treaty. Therefore the only land that Israel is 'occupying' is what is legally their land anyway. There was no other country there before. Surely you know this?!

Mandatory Palestine was a country under British rule, just like India was a country under British rule and just like Egypt was a country under British rule. And Palestine was promised to be an independent state once First World War was done. And then the British signed an agreement with people NOT from mandatory Palestine promising they would have a piece of the land. Without ever allowing the actual inhabitants of the country to have a say. Israel signed an agreement that allowed a Palestinian state to be build in the little pieces of land that was left after they took the land by force. Yet neither of those pieces of land agreed upon in the Oslo accords are fully soverign, they have governments but are militarily under siege and/or occupation. The West Bank doesn’t belong to Israel, yet Israel controls everything in it, including the people. Gaza doesn’t belong to Israel yet Israel controls it’s waters, airspace and electric fields. Also both areas are not allowed to build their own currency therefor are forced to use Israeli shekels and both areas need to register to the Israeli government in order to have their ID papers. Israel as per the framework of the international law that they have agreed to adhere to is an occupying force not only in Gaza and the West Bank but parts of Syria.

But specialists on the ground who have access to evidence can independently investigate and conclude as their mandate requires. Such gross and despicable journalism.
