Agreed. Why does the US still support israel?????
Because it is not in the interest of the filthy rich in the United States to have a government "for the people".
      No money in it.
As compared to their motto of "Death Destruction and Division will always be the more profitable pursuit".
If the Jews of this world do not want to witness another genocide of their people then they need to reign in this blood thirsty Israeli government NOW before it is too late.
How many children has israel killed today?

You've GOT to be kidding. She did nothing but show partisan contempt for anyone who asked her a decent question. She rambled and didn't answer anything. Even the left-leaning Age/SMH reporter was ridiculed, mocked and got no answer to a very valid question (35:41) that the moderator had to re-ask (38:25) and STILL she didn't answer it. Why was she given such a platform at our NPC? She has no respect for Western culture, and recites nothing but woke tropes about "colonialism" and the indigenous peoples of the world. if she's trying NOT to look like just another bat-s--t crazy leftist anti-semite, she's doing a really bad job.

She's so right in that the veto power of the P5 must be abolished. The PRC inherited their vote from the ROC in the first place. Given how much time has elapsed since WW2, it's time for these veto powers to be rescinded.
Has also put a shot across the bows of Australian media that has perpetuated an Israeli power and empathy asymmetry. Israeli suffering is treated with the dingity it deserves but Palestinian suffering is largely dismissed.
I've also never seen a media so consistently uncritical of IDF claims around targets and strikes. They're far more critical of our allies the US, who at least admit then they get it tragically wrong and destroy a hospital (Kunduz).

    • @weisenberg3975
      @weisenberg3975 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Two remarks.
To abolish the veto power I guess it would take a resolution whereby no P5 member would oppose their veto. Unlikely.
As the second world economy, and third military in the World, the legitimacy of the PRC's seat in the P5 seems to me the least debatable. In this specific case, I don't see why we should even point PRC's veto right, while it's obviously the USA's which allows Israel to proceed undisturbed in their vioaltion of International Law.

Since October 7. I have been looking for common human decency. Which has become so rare. May be its always been rare. But all these years West has been teaching morals, justice and equality to others. And we the colonized minds have been looking to the West for these values. The last couple of weeks basically unveiled the truth. That all of these values are subjective, they only apply when the powers to be have some sort of interest tied in the situation at hand.

This press conference was almost nothing but insulting to this professional and the international bodies she was representing. She was speaking as an experienced UN official specialising in international criminal law, tasked with investigating this specific ongoing conflict and invited to share her professional opinion on it. The orchestrators of this event made an absolute mockery of her time during this vital period.
Few acting ministers attended or tried to meet with her (allegedly), while most of the journalists picked to speak (and some online commentor) did nothing but attempt to waste her time or discredit her. Having a Sky news presenter host the event and talk the way he did was also... a choice someone made.
All after the good humour and understanding she expressed in her opening speech, despite the topic matter and the Australian government's position. I'm deeply ashamed to see anyone, particularly someone of her tenure and good nature, treated in such a way in this country. She handled it well but should never have had to. What an embarrassment to Australia.

Amazing that she has to explain to them how to report on the conflict. If you're going to be writing on foreign affairs, war and conflict, and foreign policy it might be a good idea to have a basic understanding of international humanitarian law, the laws of war, history etc. Then maybe you would have a framework for reporting on events instead of printing IDF press releases and dehumanising Palestinians.

Near the end the reporter from The Guardian made me think of something Noam Chomsky has often said. That no matter how many times, or how clearly you explain, some people are just unable to hear it. She repeatedly explained how Israel is violating international law through an apartheid regime, but all he could hear was 'domination' = trope; I'm assuming he was heading toward 'anti-Semitic trope'.
