Played the sims 2 DS growing up...gave me literal nightmares!! Like what a crazy game, loved the experience though, you can't help but be engaged. But I'll always think back to the insanity that the game was 😂😂

The DS version absolutely scared the life out of me. From vacuuming, to superhero rats, to seduction of random sims, to that scary ass desert alien thing. So weird!!!
For years, I thought I made up The Sims 2 DS port. Like it was some weird fever dream my mind made out of memories from the proper PC Sims 2. As I watch this, it's all flooding back. Getting abducted, wandering around the desert looking for nuclear rods, shoving over cows to get milk shakes.

Thank you for this video! The Sims 2 DS is one of my favorite games from my childhood, and I live every day with the soundtrack of Strange town looping in my head. The hotel concierge calling you "a time travelling cheater" is a line I quote with my brothers into our 20s.

oh sjskshsj i forgot about honest jackson disappearing in sims 2 ds. there's a weirder explanation that i still take as valid and canon. he simply just falls through the floor and gets stuck forever in his office.

@@prudencesoftyit's actually a bug that somehow wasn't noticed. There's also one that corrupts your pockets if you do the alien autopsy minigame. Both of these can actually be patched using cheat codes though!
The Sims 2 DS OST is VERY common background music for my streams. And one time, someone recognised the music, and we just fangirled. It was great. Thank you for covering these! I only played the Sims 2 DS, but it was absolute nightmare fuel for me as a kid, and I still adore the game to this day. I try to play it every now and then but I just... Can't get back into it. I'm not into real time games like I used to be. I don't even play Animal Crossing anymore. So that's a shame. But I still listen to the music A LOT. Like... So much... Might do it now... I love that the composer remastered them all and put it on TH-cam. Absolute legend there! I also have a tendancy to just... I played The Sims 2 on the PSP and absolutely loved it. I made a mission to get all of the secrets (especially from the Dominion guy, since you can't talk to him after a certain point), and I actually got so into it that I replayed it a bunch of times and wrote a letter to EA about it (I was 12, I never sent it lmao). I also played The Sims 2 Pets, and The Sims 2 Castaway (both on the PSP). Castaway is more story driven, but Pets was a complete sandbox, nothing going on. The Goths weren't even in the game, it was weird. I have never seen anyone talk about the Pets game, but I guess it makes sense because there's not much to say about it.
The psp game is amazing I love it so much! Yeah don’t really get to know that much about old dr dominion tbh! Bless 12 year old you though 🥹 ahh I really wanna play sims 2 castaway !! I think I had sims 2 pets for the ds can’t really remember it tbh!
I really enjoyed sims pets 2 on the PS2. Lots of lore for different families on that one, and every piece of furniture. Had a unique 'city' to travel to :]
Sims on the DS was like the weirdest feverdream to me as a kid. But I still loved it.
I came back to the Sims 2 GBA recently because I wanted to see if I could finally figure out the social interactions, and what I learned is that it works on a rate of success, and from there I figured out which social moves to spam (for Friendly, you just use Entertain, because the other ones don't reward you enough for the low rates of success; for Intimidate, Rude Gesture has both a high rate off success, and a high reward, so you only need to get it right a few times; For Romance, just spam Kiss for the same reason).
As for minigames, you get skills in the desert area from the guy on the boat who sells skill books. They get expensive, but if you invest early, and get promoted, you'll be loaded by Ep. 4. Bigfoot Love Chickens and Car Commercial are especially lucrative at level 5.
yeah I feel like the conversations weren't explained properly ! yeah i noticed that by the time i was nearly done with the game that being rude worked better than annoy smh ! so weird tho why do they give you the option to purchase so many options when only a couple have high rates of success?
Ah no way I bought some of them books but i guess I should've invested more in my career maybe then i would've actually had some money to play with and paid off optimum alfred no problem!!! I really appreciate this comment though, I'm sure it'll help some poor soul who decides to play the GBA game for the first time!!
I absolutely loved the console ports for some reason. That game on PSP was so fun and odd , but also Sims 1 and 2 for PlayStation was something else

Of all the portable games, I'd say Ubz on GBA is my favorite, but Sims 2 on PSP is GOATed 🗿

I dont think i ever ised a walkthrough. I BARELY managed to unlock the last episode after years of playing. Loved the GBA port. Theres something captivating about being an actor, Truman Showing a whole town into submission
I played it as a kid before TH-cam and all that good stuff. I LOVED the game and played it a lot and did beat it multiple times (I think, memory is a bit fuzzy)

I loved the PSP and DS ports of Sims 2 as a child and always go back and play them every couple of years. I enjoyed getting more jokes as an adult too. The soundtrack for the DS slaps and is something I listen to on the reg, strange day is my alarm tone too lol. I actually played Sims 2 on PC for the first time recently (always strange town obvs) I made Annie Howell, The saloon and moved in Nervous Subject (reunited at last) and gave them a pet Pug named Night Beast. 😂 Thanks for making a video appreciating and recommending the games. I would recommend PSP sims be played on an emulator because on the PSP its verrry slow.

I loved the Sims 2 DS growing up. Usually for the final battle with the robot, I use to use the glitches in the game to beat him. Also, I spent so much time in the gallery just painting awful paintings to see how gullible the townsfolk were to buy it (they never wanted my good paintings)
Literally people would literally rather buy a painting that said poo than a masterpiece!!!

This unlocked so many memories….I played every single game and this was like a flood of nostalgia
The DS version i played around when it came out and was my introduction to the series. (Weirdly enough)
Later, i played the PC versions and the PS2 version of The Sims 2.
From the portable versions based on the video, i think the PSP version is the weirdest.
May have to emulate it on my phone to experience it for myself.
I revisited the DS version recently, too, and I also emulated it on my phone.
The sims 2 ds wow what an amazing introduction to the sims!!! Yeah I defo recommend the PSP version, you have to play it!!! Init amazing that we can emulate these games on our phones!!!!

i don’t know what it is about this video but i’ve watched it repeatedly. i’ve only played sims 2 on the DS and PSP but i’m so obsessed with the cast of characters, especially Giuseppi❤. i downloaded a custom sims 3 world that has all of them and all the versions of strangetown combine. thanks for reminding me of my favorite sims !!!
I have alot of fond memories of the sims 2 gba, it was my favorite game as a young child. The mission where your shrunk down to fight giant lady bugs was my favorite.

I'm always a big fan of the Sims console games that give us concrete goals to achieve.
It's why I love Scenarios so much in the Sims 4, and why I'm sad there's so few of them! I need to learn how to make them because I love having in-game goals!
"Just use a challenge someone made" yeah but that's not the same! I want the reward of unlocking something or getting some points for it! My adhd needs GOALS!

Sims 2 and Nintendogs were the first DS games I ever got alongside the classic pink DS. I loved playing it and being the rat hero 😂 I always got stuck at one point tho when the last boss is on the roof and the rat hero just isn't strong enough or maybe I'm just a wuss 😂

sims 2 on gba is so fun to me, i fucked around on it as a kid, but as an adult and actually doing the episodes and missions, its so so fun and awesome, and i really love it

growing up I just remembered Sims 2 on the PSP was one of the scariest game I've ever played as a kid and I cannot recall the reason as to why and now I finally remember
bro i got the sims 2 on DS for 5$ back in the day, online now it sells for 40 or 50 bucks
i played the GBA and DS version. the GBA was my absolute favorite. i loved the storylines and it was just fun for me. i liked the DS version too and focused more on running the hotel than the actual storylines lol. i wish these were talked about more because the storylines are truly fascinating. i wish they could make some modern sims games like these for the switch
3:09 I actually own this game on the ds and really like it. I don’t remember the ghosts though or the killer robots and the Bigfoot and the time travel.
Ahhhh you will defo have to play it again!! With the ghost I found that out from the sims 2 wiki. I’ll copy the info here:
“It can be found when the Cute Ghost Painting is placed in any room of the hotel. Once placed, the Ghost will emerge. The Cute Ghost Painting is a rare item that only stocks in the store on January 11, 2000 and December 31, 2099.”
So if u set ur ds to those dates you can buy the picture! Bigfoot will be in the basement once u have built the secret warehouse! The killer robots aka optimum Alfred and his gang will be a guest in the penthouse once Ava Cadavra has left the hotel. And the time travel is just to speed the game up by changing the time on ur ds, so rooms will get built quicker as it runs on real time!

When I was a kid I got the GBA version and I didn't know about the other versions and didn't find out they existed until recently nor knew they were different. I loved the GBA version I played it a bunch and beat it I don't think I had access to the internet at that time. And I think I played it on my ds.
The sims 2 DS I feel isn’t talked about enough. You’re the third person I’ve seen talking about it while the ps2 version is often spoken about. I own and occasionally play the DS port now that I’m not a child that isn’t frightened by the game.
The game is so weird and the sims texts can be so brutal and mean that it makes me laugh. The aliens though are downright frightening. The music is so creepy and as someone on the spectrum, I’m sensitive to abnormal noises or sounds so while the aliens no longer scare me, the music does.
It's inaccurate to call them ports, they're not that. They're spinoffs. My first GBA game was The Sims 2 and it's great, I wish more people played that one over the DS version.

I didn't even know there was a Sims 2 for most of these! I only knew about the Playstation, Gameboy, and maybe (?) GameCube? (Were there Sims for that?)

This is really random but have you ever played the sims 3 on the blackberry? It was pretty good from what i remember. I made an alien sim that just a regular sim with blue skin but i just pretended she was an alien lol and i tried to romance everyone

@@prudencesofty i was trying to find a good emulator and a rom the other day. yeah there's so many sims mobile games, they did one for every sims 3 expansion up to supernatural i think. edit: i found some roms! i can send them to you if you like?

Amazing video! I've played through all of these but the DS version is by far my fave. HOW did you get it to work? Every time I've tried to emulate the game I can't get the touch screen elements of the game to work on a computer.

Like the main bit I had trouble with was the vacuuming but what parts of the game are u struggling with in regards to the touchscreen ? The emulator I use is melon ds if that’s any help?

You missed an even more confusing version Sims 2 Pets' for the GBA' the only Sims game I never finished' just couldn't figure out the purpose of the whole thing.

I remember getting Ava mad at me inside of a pent house then she started destroying the furniture, so when I went to take a shower she destroyed the shower while I was in it. Then it showed my naked character with the blur on his crotch and froze my game. That was an interesting experience when I was 4 or 5

- GBA has the best story, mini-games and town
- DS has best mood
- PSP has best graphics, obviously

Thank you! I am working with a temporary setup atm which is kinda rubbish but it’ll improve when I eventually move house! And Tbh I had no idea about filters and things so I’ll work on it for next time and thank you for the advice !

I loved sims 2 DS. I wanted to play it the other day but I couldn’t find my copy. I must have sold it. So I nabbed a bargain copy’s of it from Vinted. I also got the game boy one and I also hate it. Why is it so complicated

I didn't play any of the weirdness that was the sims 2 ports. I did play The Sims Bustin Out as my first Sims experience and actually quite enjoyed that. This was quite an interesting bunch of ports... i dunno if i should be glad i didn't experience them or if I should actually experience them.

Been playing ts2 for ds every once in a while since my childhood and have never seen the ghost painting or the ghost. Maybe its because of the german version?
I found it on the sims 2 wiki so if you set ur ds to January 11 2000 or December 31 2099 you’ll be able to buy it from the store not sure if it does anything though except for making a ghost spawn?
