    • @TheGoldenBolt
      @TheGoldenBolt  ปีที่แล้ว +15

Vegas Pro doesn't care how good your PC is sometimes, it just decides to choose chaos. (I'm probably just outside of current top-end, I haven't kept up with the new GPUs since I don't need to upgrade anytime soon, but I'm a 3070 enjoyer.)

Ah yeah, definetly the software being doodoo. A 3070 is more than enough for this kind of thing, maybe try messing with Premiere Pro and see how it likes your computer

    • @TheGoldenBolt
      @TheGoldenBolt  ปีที่แล้ว +6

I've got Premiere on here as well, actually, but I appreciate the shout! I just went with Vegas this time because that's the one I'm more comfortable with, and given that March and April have been lighter video months I didn't want this or the next couple projects to get caught up with me going slower. But sometimes I pay the price, and today was one of those lol

  • @toonman5099

As far as MySims stuff being used in modern Sims games, I like that in 4 they come in the form of some collectible trophies and some posters for an in-universe tv show along with some actual officially downloadable Sims based on some of the MySims characters, although a couple of them are a little bit off from their usual characterizations and backgrounds. There ARE some elements that I DO find interesting, although the only one I like is the new connection for Candy and Yuki where they turn them into sisters otherwise some of the character personalities are a bit mixed up.
I honestly wish MySims made a proper return in some way, like at least maybe a full MySims expansion story pack or something. Loved MySims Agents (Wii) and it makes me sad that it kind of stops there.

@@Ranixo286 Didn't know about Chaz, and I'm finding it weird they turned him into a black guy when ALL of his other appearances are a red headed white guy as a thrill seeker. The pirate angle KIND OF makes sense from that perspective, but turning him black...I don't know.
Some of the decisions, at least to me, feel kind of like needless changes to well known characters. Yes technically the MySims characters work off of a "multiverse" logic, but aside from the first entry, they sort of had a "settled" design at one point or another.

Seeing the town in Agents brought back some old memories, I remember after finishing the game just going back through all the levels and taking it all in. Appreciating all the characters and areas, and the stories it told. So many little details that made the world feel lived in too, in a sense, like the trains driving by far off in the background that I hadn't even noticed before.
It wasn't until I was in college I'd thought about those MySims games, and wondered what ever happened to that series. I was so upset when I found out they cancelled the Agents sequel, remembering how much I really wanted to re-experience the first one.
Nowadays it's just frustrating, seeing how much utter trash gets to keep going and thrive when for over 20 years we've seen great ones get left behind and forgotten.

MySims Agents is genuinely up there with some of my fondest childhood memories, i loved the mystery and the suspense, the characters and the world they created, i remember being enthralled by the ending for months after beating it, i genuinely used to have dreams about the ending being fully resolved, i would daydream about a sequel so long i convinced myself the sequel was coming, and it was exactly what my 10 year old brain had imagined- upsettling that story never was resolved, but i think it never would have had its effect on me if it was, it’s forever one of maybe 5 games over my entire life i’ve had a genuine obsession over and that i still think about into the modern day, coincidentally another is the sims 2 on DS, the linear sims game were unrivalled in my opinion, they had such fully formed character that for the time just wasn’t normal, it’s a part of me and i’ll look back at those days where my only serious conflicting thoughts were about how a problem in one of them would be resolved, and asking myself where i missed the proverbial clue that would let me advance, was one of my first ever rl examples of how important stepping away from a situation and employing an actual problem solving mindset was both beneficial and rewarding- these games can NOT be slept on

You move someone into the close lot, fulfill all of their requests, and then move them to a lot further away from you, rinse and repeat. It helps a little bit with the amount of walking/loading, but still doesn't solve the issue. Though when I played as a kid it didn't feel like that big of an issue to me
13:14 With the plant essences, if you ran out, you could water the plants and they would regrow immediately.

i remember actually really loving mysims party because you could make custom characters to use in the minigames. my sister and i would make mysims versions of our pc sims characters and have them battle it out there. i never did care for the "story mode" though and always rushed through it to unlock all the minigames

Yessss my sibling and I made a bunch of sims on that game lol. Also, our neighbor came over all the time and we let her make her own sims on there and we would play through the festivals together. Never cared for the story either though, I thought it was boring and the whole monument thing didn't make much sense to me.

Man, I remember playing the first game as a kid. I haven't thought about these in years. That said, I feel like a new game in the style of the original could actually do really well these days. It feels like a more extreme version of the direction Animal Crossing has gone in - focused more on customization than the social simulation aspect. And because of that, perhaps a lot of people would enjoy something like it now.

mysims kingdom is one of my all time favorite games and I'm so happy I finally get a video talking about the recognition it deserves!! I am a huge fan of city builder adventure games, and no other game has scratched the itch quite like kingdom did. It has one of the most in depth customization systems I have seen for a game of its nature and the characters are so charming. While I agree the ending was kind of anticlimactic I did love the sandbox mode where you can decorate your own castle with the hundreds of items you unlocked, and go back to re-customize islands with new requests from the villagers. It is such a surprisingly in depth and well thought out game for a spin off intended for children, and it was only ruined a little by playing the first MySims after it hoping for the same quality and finding out it was practically unplayable haha oops

Thanks so much looking at these games, they were the highlight of my childhood/early teen years! I really loved the way it would just activate your imagination and run with it, like in MySims even though your sim had no needs I would always send them to sleep at night and eat food during the morning/evening, and take walks through the forest admiring the scenery. They might get a bit repetitive playing them as an adult, but I love them and I was glad you had a fun time playing them! Have a lovely day ❤

Loved the review but just 1 or 2 things to note about the first game.
The thing about the trees is that you can water and fertilize them for more essences. That option is always available. The essences also grow back in a matter of seconds so you don't have to leave and come back.
And you also don't have to waste loading screens when you want to give items to sims if they're not home. They will appear in a few seconds after you entered the house.

I feel like I should clarify here because it's not described well in first game or online either.
The process of gathering essences dosen't really evolve as the game progresses; only new ones get gradually introduced.
YET, you can speed up the process for harvesting tree based essences by watering the trees; or straight up using pesticide to get a burst of essence; alongside a dead tree you need to chop and replace with another tree based essence, but by that point you already have enough.
Sims can even host picnics, book clubs, or seance on the overworld to casually gain specific/rare essence as well.

MySims are probably one of my favorite spinoff series from my childhood, so I'm happy to see it get more attention.
I played them both on Wii and DS, and I gotta say, they're different enough on both platforms to actually warrant playing both.
Never played MySims on DS, but Kingdom focuses more on town building than the console counterpart.
Party is also not completely awful, it has a proper free roam world and the story and minigames were a lot better.
Racing too was a lot different, it actually had a proper free roam world and a pretty cool story. Don't remember if the courses themselves were any good though.
Agents is also pretty different. It does focus a lot on the mystery part, but socializing with other Sims was a lot more important.
Sky Heroes is pretty similar to it's console counterpart though.

I like the fact that TS4 pays tribute to MySims by having figurines of MySims characters that can be found through digging up those rock thingys throughout the world. MySims was a huge part of my childhood. I played the original on Wii, Kingdom Wii, Racing DS, Agents Wii and a tiny bit of Sky Heroes on the Xbox. I adored this franchise too much, even if most of the game aren't that great. I went back to revisit them last year and even played the games I haven't played like Party and Racing on the Wii. Here comes my huge opinions on each game after these revisits.
    - The Original MySims was a game I 100% completed as a child. Making it the first ever game I ever did so. Revisiting it on the PC was a great time. There was even features in that version that is not on the Wii like exclusive Sims and a separate online area. I made a sim from my "THE Sims" playthroughs, who was named Horatio, into this game and the others moving forwards for my revisits. I really liked his cutesy counterpart in these games. My playthrough ended when my game sadly broke after I got to the end. Which crashes the game before I can even complete it to 5 stars. Which sucks but other than that and a few grinding sessions being rather boring, the game was still solid and meant a lot to me looking back.
    - Kingdom was and still kind of is my favourite in the series. I enjoyed going through different "kingdoms" and solving their problems. The completion reward you get is your own "kingdom" where you can make your own house in a HUGE grid that takes most of the island. I really enjoyed this game and revisiting it was a amazing time.
    - Party is.. eh. If the series felt like shovelware, this one is the only one I can consider the worse case for that shovelware title. It's just a Mario Party ripoff and you can make buildings like in the original but the entire game is catered towards the lackluster mini-games. Probably the worse in the series for me.
    - I only had the best experience with the DS version of Racing as a kid. And looking back, in my opinion it's better than it's console counterpart. You could drive around the hub world instead of the map shown in the Wii version and it gave me the same connection I had with Mario Kart on the DS. This is literally the only time I prefer a DS version of a MySims game than it's console counterpart.
    - Agents is arguably the best in the series. The style is absolutely perfect and characters had 2D renders, introducing this nice art style that complements the style of the 3D models. I never touched the soundtrack of these games but the original MySims' soundtrack was nostalgic heaven for me, but Agent's soundtrack is a bop at the time and it suited the style of the game completely.
    - Finally, if we're not counting that weird MySims Camera on the DSi, we get Sky Heroes and well.. I didn't really like this upon revisiting. My favourite thing about these games is the freedom of making things such as the furniture in the original. This game lacks that besides making your own plane and your character. Also the serious tone was NOT suitable for the series, like at all. Agents kind of had these lack of creativity and somewhat serious tone but it was fun to solve mysterious and it even had fun puzzle mini-games. This.. all you do is go into dogfighting and that's really the meat of the game. I lost interest the same way I did with Party and Racing (Wii) and It's a shame that the series ended on this note.
I don't think EA will EVER bring this game series back anytime soon but if they do like.. on the Switch or something. Or they just remaster the first game and add new features, I'd be down for it. I honestly love this series as a childhood staple and revisiting it with my boy Horatio was a blast up until Sky Heroes.
