I also have some Rotolight products (1x AEON and 4x NEO2). The NEO2 is perfect to light 1 person, maybe 2 if they are close together, to add light in tight spaces (like in a car, small room). Light strength reduces by 1/2 per distance unit, so the NEO2 is indeed a close-up tool. I use them in places where light is very low or no light, I can get close and use the gain (ISO) capacity of the camera to catch the rest of light requirement. As Jason also often says, use the appropriate tool and he also often uses tools like the Godox AD200, AD400, AD600 or other speedlights.

Nice! Some of the shots you seen of the bands in this video was just using the one light set up. Really pleased at just how powerful it helped for those photos.

I just ordered this light and a few other LED panels, for a constant light kind of setup. After looking over it and using it in the studio in conjunction with the other lights, and also by itself for a portrait, i got to say. i like it.

Jason is in London end March 2019. You can find a list of his workshops and photo-walks on his website.

Ah cool! Cheers for the heads up. Again, no Belfast though. He knows how much I want him over this way ;-)

I have a Neo 2 and also the two light Aeos Kit. I did a workshop with Jason about a year and a half ago and saved up for awhile and bought the stuff. I have loved it when I've used it but to be honest, I haven't used it as much as I'd like because of a couple of reasons. On location you need the V-lock batteries on the Aeos and those are expensive as F***. I got one that works great, but the other I got cheaper from Amazon, and its a pain because it won't hold charge worth a crap. The other problem I have had is getting the settings right so I can get all 3 to sync and work together in flash mode. When I have used them in one light setups, they have been great. I think I just need to hire a model for an afternoon and just play with them and finally figure it all out. I also have a new battery coming so I hope to start using these on jobs again soon.

Yeah I get'cha, at the start the Rotolight system can be abit troublesome. And it's a lot to invest in as well, but once the kinks get ironed out they're a handy system.
I hope you get out again soon! The AEOS is fantastic, I wish I had one. And more Neos lol

I'm about to get one of these tomorrow. I have to photograph hundreds ! 😲 of items of my late brothers artwork, etching prints, and I don't want to spend too much time pp'ing in Photoshop. If I can get the best image possible in camera over the shortest time frame (weeks) then I'll be happy! Does it make toast?🤣

Might take a bit of time on the toast making front lol. Enjoy!

Hi, could you please show how to manually change power of the flash from Eli chrome ? I’ve got same thing with Sony A7R4 and could not figure out how to set the flash power to use it as a flash with my Sony camera. I can trigger it thru Eli chrome on my camera.

Am not actually too sure, as I dont own the Eli trigger. Check out the likes of Jason Lanier, or pop your question in the Rotolight user group on Facebook 😊
