The hour meter running backwards is usually caused by the battery connected wrong way around. I'm not sure if you are aware or not but generators run a positive earth system. Here in New Zealand the old Allis Chalmers loaders were classed as some of loaders back then. Keep up the videos of saving the old equpment.

The big bag of cheap Harbor Freight spring clamps can be your best friend when stringing up tarps and temporary tarp shelters. They seem to hold pretty well until winds get a little crazy and definitely save a bunch of fiddling around. Wish I had your perseverance on projects without getting distracted by...Squirrel! The coolent heater is for heating up the engine on cold days in the winter months you can bypass the cab heater but you will still need the other coolent lines to warm up the engine.

That 34° adjustment did the rest, quite unusual, as most adjustments refer to plain TDC... Hell yeah! Girl has some life, hard work and perseverance over "throw it in the scrap", my dad always told me, you can make any old vehicle work, it's the difference between the work invested and just throwing new parts at it.

Military manuals if you can get them are the best. Great job, hope to see this beauty in top shape again as you correct all the other issues.
Im not a gear head, certainly not a mechanic, i know nothing about diesels at all, eventhough i used to drive tractor trailers, but every time you put out a video im sotting here watching amd learning. I smile and gifgle when some old machine sputters to life. Ive run old equipment and i mean old, but just seeing these things brought back to life for another run is so cool. I'd never be able to figure out the things you do, so i live vicariously through you. Just great.
Didn't you ever want to take the time to learn about diesel engines when you were driving them for a living? What would you do when you had a mechanical issue?
@@giggiddy i know some basic things, but if and when i ever broke down on the road, i called the fleet manager and he or she dealt with it while i sacked out. same as a blown tire, they called a roadside crew and they came and fixed it. always had my self prepared to stay somewhere if need be. since i dont drive them any more, i have no desire to learn about them now.

There's something deeply satisfying about seeing an old machine others have given up on get a bit of TLC and get put back to work. I think I'd have liked being a mechanic or operator of some kind. Got pushed into computers instead and regretted it after a few years and went to carpentry/construction. Always loved working with machines. That test rig where your pump actually runs an engine (in their shop) is incredible! Can't get any closer to actually putting it back in your machine. AND he can make fine adjustments right there. That is so Sweet.
We had a newer 575 B model made in the late 1970s. When it reached into the 20,000 engine hours it got very difficult to start and needed ether to start. The engine was worn out so the compression was low. The dealer offered a replacement new engine repower which was an Iveco engine that came with everything necessary to replace the Allis Chalmers engine.
No, once tightened down the oring is able to just slip a bit higher on the injector body... if it wasn't sealing at an injector we would know based on how the engine sounds.
In addition to the dirt seals on the the injection nozzles , I find a good coat of never-sieze on the outside helps keep any dirt or moisture out of the bore. Helps a lot when removing later.
I have been inspired by yours and others rehabbing old equipment. As a direst consequence I’m fixing and restoring tools and fixtures in our home and my shop. Thank you for sharing your work.
When breaking and tightening the injector lines I use a crow's foot "tube wrench" and a rachet and extension. Makes bleeding injectors EZ-PZ. I have both imperial and metric crows foot tube wrenches i bought at Harbor Freight. Next time you bleed injectors you will thank yourself for going to Harbor Freight. Good video . I have been fighting a JD 1010 crawler for months and have watched a lot of videos. Your rebuilding of the injector pump was the only one that showed where the plastic buffer washer under the governor weights goes and how to put it on . I will be redoing the pump if I can find a cylinder liner plate assembly that is under $2,000 bucks. Great work, and thanks.
Life is a bit easier if you do a test fit without the seals, to get the gear and pump clocked, and mark the gear to the timing gear housing. Then pull the pump, install the seals and it is already alligned enough to close it up.
Its so crazy to see how intricate diesel motors are to where the specialists have to use such fine measurement tools. Must take a LONG time to gain all that knowledge.

Since you had the rocker cover off why you no set valve lash would make it run better yet. I've done it myself when things go wrong I tell my you only needed to remove a few more bolts and deal with it and I wouldn't be doing things again like I need the practice lol👍👍👍
Because i didnt want to change ANYTHING else... it ran beautifully before the injection pump stopped pumping and i wanted to make sure i found the problem before adjusting anything elss.

Good in-depth analyses of this Wi-Fi breaker. Yes, not super safe with the remote control or time settings. I bet it won't last long in service when there are a couple of mains spikes or a lightning strike nearby. A lot of electronic stuff crammed in that package. Interesting motor drive arrangement with a small hobby type of motor.
great job! I have a suggestion for you. On the pump, where the lines match up, use a small plastic wedge, like a phone case cracker and wedge it between the two to keep them still while installing the shaft. would this help stabilize some of the moving parts while assembling? Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

That tank with the red hoses is a cat's engin heater I have one on all my equipment and have use them for years and I have several setting on the shelf. Every time they make something that works foe some reason they will top makeing them . Good video

Hey on your next diesel coldstart, try propane. I can't remember if it helps coldstart or if when already warm. Just an experiment, no worse than that starting fluid and it would be interesting to see.

did you clean the fuel tan out? i bet theres a bunch of dirt in the tank and its sucking into the pump and plugging it up.

Agreed very important on diesel engines to keep that intact
those coolant lines also cool the compressor head .. hook them back up

Something else to check is the valve lash it could be off enough to cause hard starting and rough idle

42:42 WD-42 is made from fisch oil. I use it to polish my black shoes, it works perfectly for long long time

Using the o-rings made me wonder if they would interfere with the function of the crush washers.
My thoughts exactly. Wouldn’t the installed height change with the o rings?

C&C Equipment just showed the little tool to install those Umbrella seals; bet they could hook you up with it if you wanted one.

Running very nicely now - amazing to think that it ran at all when the timing was 35 degrees out of whack actually. Well done.

I spent many a hot summer hour in the cab of one of these shuttling sand back and forth in a gravel pit. The engine sound is music to my ears.

Hey on your next diesel coldstart, try propane.
I can't remember if it helps coldstart or if when already warm.
Just an experiment, no worse than that starting fluid and it would be interesting to see.
I use an electric heat gun and blow hot air into the engine air intake.
Works like a champ and will not damage the engine.

Love that loader the windows on the cab I like and if it was my machine and engine blew I'd re power it with a 8.3 bt or 6.7 and the radiator is no drama plenty of modern replacement but yeah it's very cool
My impulsive thoughts decided the loader could be named Sgt. Unkillable because of the 2 military manuals and how this machine just will not die!🤣 Happy salvaging!!
