    So good to find a painter who knows how to paint pine trees!!! So many claim to be painting pine trees when they are painting spruce and fir. Artists need to learn the difference. These are beautifully done with real needles. Thank you so much!

    That landscape seems to be truly beautiful! And the branches near the observer! Uuu they make you feel the distance of the background! You sir are a Master!

      You do excellent work, but difficult work. I have been trying to follow your method for painting waves. It's not easy.
      You have a lot of patience, Thanks for your help.

    Joe, It's always these small, observed details an artist has to correctly capture, right? You not only succeed at doing this, but you are such a kindhearted soul for sharing HOW to recreate them. Thank you sir, and God bless you for helping us along.

I am beyond thankful to have finally found this channel!!!!! I have the skills just lack technic and have been 100% self taught. It pleases me greatly to see that you, unlike other painters, truly know what a pine tree is and how it should be reproduced on canvas. Far too many artists paint a pine tree in a conical shape with limbs angling down.

    Thank you for this. I recently had to do a painting and wanted a pine tree in it and had no clue how to approach it. I used your instructions and my own intuition and managed to pull it off. Not sure I would have been as successful without the spun paint brush trick. Thanks again.

    Oh my god, thank you! I don't know if they're in the same tree group but here in Australia we have she oaks or casuarinas that have pine needles and I've been struggling with how to achieve the transparent effect of groups of the thin needles with a fan brush (I'm an oil painter) and you've solved the problem.

    I've never painted before and I can't even draw a decent looking stick figure! I accidently happened on your video and decided to watch it. I am amazed at how simple you made this look and your instructions are easy to follow. I love picture of trees and nature and I've been unsuccessful in finding any that could draw what I want. My hobby is genealogy and I've been wanting to have a village that consists of houses and barns that look like the places my ancestors lived in and the biggest focal point being a shade tree that grows beside the church that my mother and grandparents went to. On the tree I want to write their names and possibly birth and death dates. I just need to decide if I want maple or oak trees and there will be pine trees in the background. I will be watching more of your videos and have hit the like and subscribe button! Thank you for sharing your knowledge it is most appreciated!

    I meant to say, the bristles stay in the position they dry in. So you can put it right back by wrapping it as it dries. That first reply of mine didn't seem clear.

    @muraljoe  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, Definitely. Good question. After you clean the brush, the bristles will relax and go back to normal. Bristles get softer the longer they stay wet so to go back to normal, the brush just needs to be dried out all the way and perhaps wrapped with paper or the original cover if you really want it nice and straight.

    Your very skilled I watch your waves video very helpful.i am an abstract painter I do lots of tester and random figures and shapes and chaos iv got my second exhibition coming up and the exhibitor wanted me to do a painting with just blue. for the background I start different blues and it started looking like abstract wave like Monet and it was looking good so l changed the style I usually do and went for a Monet like which is something l never do but I needed it to look a little more realistic. half realist and half abstract was what I was looking for so thank you for the waves

    since I only paint as a private hobby, it still doesn't mean I like to suck at what I do...The reason I am watching this video is I painted a really beautiful 'Asian' sun on a gold back ground with a pine branch.....In Chinese tradition, the pine tree represents a 'Gentleman'....the entire painting worked out really great......until I got to the needles.......the best word I can use about what happened starts with a 'F' and ends with an 'up'😋....everything I did wrong is entirely what Joe said what not to do....lets hope a second time is a charm! Ta for the tips.....

    I just watched 3 of your videos. You have very good color coordination and use. Your work shows great depth. I think you really have a special talent. Don't give it up (if you can help it). I think that you could be famous artist, in real time. I mean that, seriously. You color combinations are different -- in a good way -- from anything else I have seen. Don't forget to ask for the buck! :) For instance, on your website, I think that you should update it and you are really under value-ing your work. You really are that good.
