    Hello everyone,
    In today's video we'll be going over a few trees I've been painting using the wet into wet technique and the dry brushing technique. I absolutely LOVE the dry brush effect on some of the trees and hope you give it a try. Remember that dry brushing can be a bit rough on your brushes, so keep that in mind. This is part one of my tree series. Stay tuned for part 2! Be sure to like and subscribe for more videos like this. Until next time. take care my friends. :)

      Thank you 😊
      You’re trees will get there! It wasn’t that long ago when my trees weren’t as diverse as these ones, and with very little techniques used. But, with constant practice, you’ll develop your own take and style of trees and grow to love them.

      Me too, 60s. Thanks for the tutorials Jackie!! I really appreciate it. I just noticed your paper is textured so I think I'll try that.I think it would help with dry brush technique. I'm from the PNW. So many beautiful trees! I been using a Dagger but I think I'll pick up some of your favorites for trees too. Love your videos and I'll be watching this one again. Thanks again.

      I live in a forest as well, surrounded by trees. Please note that most of your trees are spruce, not pine. The length was just fine. After all, one can always speed the video up. I don't know why l find them hard to paint, though; do you also find that some seemingly simple things pose a greater challenge than others? Thanks!

    • @JackiePeacock
      @JackiePeacock  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh yes, I find many subjects challenging to paint. At the moment it’s mushrooms. No idea what it is about those, but I always mess them up. What I do to challenge myself with something I desperately want to get better at is to obsess over it until I get it right. That way I’m able to get all the bad art out of my system.

    Just started watercolor and trees are my nemesis!! I'm convinced that using quality paper is a key factor in getting great results like this. Being a beginner I didn't want to invest in pricy paper until I'm more confident. I may just have to break down and get some. My trees generally look like a sneezed green paint onto the paper.

    • @JackiePeacock
      @JackiePeacock  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aww Brittany, I totally get it. Paper is so expensive, but it really is the number one important thing in watercolor painting in my opinion. You can always by a large sheet of cold pressed and cut it up if you have a local art store near you that's where you can find them (not the big stores though - at least for me).

      You’re welcome, Joan.
      Using the wet-into-wet technique is a wonderful way to create distant fuzzy background trees, but it’s only one way. You can always create softer trees in the distance by using a lighter wash of color onto dry paper. So many ways lol. I’ll have to include that in a future video. 🌲

    Please disregard my comment about the closeup idea--I figured out what I was doing wrong. Sorry.

      Hi Linda! I’m always happy to receive feedback!
      I definitely plan on continuing to better those camera angles. It’s important to get those close ups.

    I love your trees but I just can't get them right

    • @JackiePeacock
      @JackiePeacock  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paula!
      For most of the trees, I'm using a dry brushing technique.
      Try this: mist your watercolor paints (not pools of water in them), then dip your paint brush into water, dab most of the water off on a cloth, pick up some moistened paint (shouldn't be dripping), and then lightly mist your paper before applying the paint. This should create those fun lightly feathered out trees.
      Have you watched this video? th-cam.com/video/uzojBQePRxI/w-d-xo.html
      In the second painting, I break down the trees here, too. But I must admit, that it has taken me a long time to get to these types of trees. A lot of experimenting and playing around with different brushes and water to paint ratio. You'll get there Paula. And you'll end up discovering your own style of tree that you love along the way. :) And most importantly, there's no wrong or right way to paint your trees!

    What is this velvet touch brush??

    • @JackiePeacock
      @JackiePeacock  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The velvetouch brush is a series of brushes by Princeton. It's just a style of brush I prefer to use, but there's plenty out there that are great. I love a good long round brush with a fine tip. :)

      @pandapuffs710 I love all those brushes! I hope you love them too. I find the larger sizes are wonderful when painting larger paintings. Hard to paint larger trees with the smaller sizes so I hope everything you bought is beneficial for all sizes you do.

      @JackiePeacock lol I def request more tutorials w these sizes I put above pweaseeee. See I always say the art materials don't necessarily make the art but I find everything I know to be true goes out the window w watercolor. The brushes really do make a difference

      Absolutely agree. I have music in my older videos, but over the last few months I've tossed it. I find it distracting and not really the aesthetic I'm going for.
