    Ms. Yovette! Another great tutorial! By the way, got my first small set of “water soluble paints”. I tried some small tests and they work very nicely. Also, I’ve been applying less and less of the Liquid White to the canvas (using the fingerprint test of course) and I find when I find that right balance-the painting is so much easier. THANKS SO MUCH AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and Yours!

      That is really great news Karl! It will take you a little bit to get used to the water mixables oils, but I think you will love them once you start experimenting a little. I have not put up very many new tutorials on them yet, but they will be coming. The clean up is wonderful, and it is so much healthier for your body. I am amazed at how many of my followers are starting to use them now, and are really enjoying them. My December 1st video will be a WMO painting. Hoping you will try it. It is one I really like. And yes, you have to be so careful of that liquid white to not get too much on the canvas. I am really enjoying making my own soft white medium with just a mix of WMO Titanium white and water mixable linseed oil. Stay in touch and let me know how it is coming along. Happy Thanksgiving to you too, dear blessings. 🤗💕

To answer your question, no, there is nothing you need to do different working with acrylic. The only difference is that it dries faster. But the technique would be the same. Just try it out, and I think you will find that it works well.

    Could you tell us just what #3 fan brush you use with oil, Yovette ? Because I have hog hair stiff like a bristle broom, a Windsor Newton I had to press straight. Taklon ones etc. They all but one or two, a Princeton #2 and a tiny Velvet Touch also from Princeton, seem to fight back and especially with evergreens. Those two Princetons work pretty well but if I'm gonna buy a #3 or 4, I'd like what you're using. Thanks for any info !

    • @PaintingWithYovette
      @PaintingWithYovette  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this tutorial David I am using a #3 Bob Ross Fan brush. It is a stiff hog hair. I find that I like that one the best for doing most of my trees. If I am using a large canvas, I will switch over to a #6 fan brush. The other brush is an inexpensive synthetic 3/4" brush and can be any brand. I have never tried a Princeton, but I have heard they are very nice brushes. 🌹

      I ordered the Bob Ross #3 last night, should be in my hands tomorrow...The problem with my hog bristle fan brushes in this size range is the uneveness of the length of bristles. The Winston is ok after pressing ( it was warped like an airplane wing)but it's a #6 and my Prinstons are the other extreme, very small, great for certain things like tiny evergreens.. So lately I've been leaning more on the synthetic brushes I have in paintings up to 16x20 or certainly 12x18.. I just liked the looks of how your brush worked and of course always how Bobs work .Of course in either case I fully understand it's not all about the brush but also the painters using them..

    Hi
    Great video, most helpful, our problem is we are using the #3 fan brush and every time we apply oil paint to it our bristles all separate and there is no way you can paint with it, any idea what we are doing wrong, why do the bristles separate into clumps and very little paint ends up on the canvas?

    • @PaintingWithYovette
      @PaintingWithYovette  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is an interesting question Ms! The only thing that comes to my mind is that the brush does not have a large enough amount of paint on it to begin with. Or it could be that possibly the paint is too thin? Without seeing it, it is hard to know what the problem is. Try loading the brush with a thicker and larger amount of paint and see if that helps. Let me know.
