Great insights! Love hearing about what goes into an FPV business. I've put all of my time and money into FPV and becoming a videographer over the past 3 years. I'm determined to make it. But it's been so hard for me to break the ice to transition from it all being just a hobby to booking ongoing jobs. Have built up an arsenal of tools and the ability to use them (Inspire 2 + X5S, Phantom 4 Pro V2 for 3D mapping, a couple 5" digital FPV rigs, cinewhoop, HD tiny whoop, Heros 8 & 9, Blackmagic Cinema 6K all rigged up for production, Rode GOII lavs, Aputure 120D II and supporting lighting gear, etc). But by being so focused on the craft I've spent zero time on marketing or networking.. As you mention, time to get the website / portfolio up and shining! A bunch of us out here have put in these countless hours and constant money to advance our flight skills and build up our gear, then it's sort of searching in the dark about how to reach clients.. Keep these vids coming!
@@james36606 I have had luck since this post but I'd build up in a domain then realize I don't like it and pivot. I did 3D mapping, cinematic Inspire 2 work, a wedding, I joined The Real Deal Video Strategist Club and used what learned there to do corporate brand and promo videos... but I was making myself miserable because really all I want to do is fly FPV drones. Since this post I qualified as a Finalist in the International Game Of Whoop 3 (IGOW3) drone trick competition which helped solidify for myself that yes I do have a place in FPV. So I cut out all the irons in the fire that were spreading me thin a couple months ago to focus on FPV and finally it's clicking! Connections I made years ago are coming back now and leading to new ones. I've been able to fly huge gigs for Lumen Field, Climate Pledge Arena, for an independent film, Oldcastle Infrastructure etc and have more coming up! Still not as many jobs as I'd like and I'm working on that every day, but now that I've gotten focused it's finally growing. I fly two 5" ImpulseRC Apex rigs (one as backup) with a Hero 10, and put StanFPV prop guards on it when flying around talent or valuables. I also run a CineLog25 cinewhoop with Naked Hero 10 for indoors. All that to say I did find work in all the domains eventually by putting myself out there, then chose the space that I want most =]
Funny, I just found out this video while I'm in the process of taking the FPV commercial route. And most of the ideas you've shared are the same ones I had in mind (real estate, contacting film makers, contact local businesses). But hearing details about them and how to approach them is just amazing. Thanks a lot for this video !
Definitely want to see the stock footage video and more of your flying techniques as well. I am new to FPV even though I am already doing commercial drone work. This is a niche that I see potential in and looking to learn as much as possible. Love your videos, keep it up!
Stock footage video is requested so it will happen! :D I basically only unse Google Drive, paying som extra for 2-5TB there is a great way to share footage and give editing opportunities to my co-workers on projects! Have a great day!
Getting a part 107 license/training would be great to have in your resume and to boost your business level which should be appreciated by your clients. Also there are legal reasons.
Amazing video ! Just a question for you realestate FPV work ! Do you use a protek35 6s version ? I would rather cheese the 6s over the 4s for batteries match with my 5''
I fly a Mavic 2 Pro and have never been able to make money off of it. Thinking of investing in an FPV setup ($1,600) and marketing myself in my local town, since I will be the only person with this type of drone. Is this a good investment or am I making the same mistake I made when I got my drone, and no one will want to pay for FPV shots?
Nice tips! Are you a certified drone operator? Is this required to do jobs? Do you need to fill out application to be allowed to fly on jobs you take on? Is gopro 10 acceptable quality or do you need something better for commercials? I assume all disposable equipment is your own equipment you bring? You mention a few social platforms, how about youtube? Thanks
I bet this video would have more views if you titled it "in 2022" instead. Would also seem more accurate since you uploaded it somewhere around December
