      It's funny seeing them in Rush videos, I hope they know that all members of Rush don't like Republicans, Neil Peart has called out the Republicans many times and has said he votes Democrat.

      I’m gonna be 18 in March and Rush has been my favorite band since I was 11 or 12. I really wish I could’ve been able to see them live, especially in the 70’s/80’s and 90’s. Practically nobody in my school even knows or cares about Rush or a lot of older music, it really sucks to not have that close group of friends who shares the same music taste and style. At least they left behind a legacy of incredible music that will be available to listen to for a lifetime... good to hear Geddy and Alex are still doing well too. Of course, RIP to The Professor, Neil. Rush’s music and Neil’s lyrics in particular really got me through tough times in middle and early high school, and continue to.

    I was 12, at the Tweeter Center. This was the first real concert I ever went to. Needless to say, I was already blown away by the intro. I was sitting right behind the front of house sound and lights guy, so I got to watch him make all this happen and hit all the queues for the lights and video while watching the band do their thing with playing behind them. They also had 2 or so Dryers with shirts going around behind Geddy, and this was the first time I think they did that so nobody knew why at the time. I'll never fucking forget that night. RIP Neil. I will never forget your music or what you got me through when I was a chubby little drum nerd, running home to escape from my real life and Imagine I was you at this concert while I sat at home in my basement behind my own drum kit, while I tried and failed to play along to your songs.

    • @slyfoxx2973

      I was there too. But I was about 38 and it had to have been something like my 16th or so Rush show. I remember the intro well, thinking as it went along how well thought out it was. Great way to begin a retrospective kind of show hitting on all those great old songs if only for a moment or so.

    • @jenniferjones7229
      @jenniferjones7229 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Victor Sage Good choice, mate. There are plenty of us RUSH fanatics who happen to be female out there.. My first album was Presto, introduced to me in high school. The next year, our first at University, my best friend and I got to see them at the LA Forum on the Roll The Bones Tour. We ended up meeting Primus & their road crew who were HUGE Rush fans, and followed them back to their hotel. Now this all sounds a bit salacious given that my best friend and I were 19 year old models, but in fact we sat in the lobby with the crew and just geeked out over Rush for 2 hours! They asked if we had seen them perform or heard of them and since we'd arrived late to the Rush show, we did not. Long story short we got free backstage passes to the shows in Fresno, Sacramento, and finally the Oakland Coliseum where we finally got to meet the band! Alex and Ged were so kind to us, chatting with us for quite a while. Just as he was trying to make his escape from the green room, we approached Neil to ask for his autograph on our ticket. We called him Mr; Peart (and of course pronounced his name correctly!) as he was pulling a sweatshirt over his head. His face popped out and he gave us a wry smile (knowing what I know now I would have NEVER asked him for an autograph) and as we thanked him for his work and the impact he's had on us, blah blah blah, he politely smiled and then wished us a good night and got the heck outta there quick! I framed all of the passes, the tickets, and even the blue Sharpie they used to sign my ticket! I had every vinyl album up to Hold Your Fire (displayed their covers on the wall) and devoured the book "Visions" as well as anything else Rush related I could find. In 2012 (so hard not to type 2112!) I moved to the UK and had to sell my Fender Jazz bass. I now live in France and although my husband is a classical pianist since he was 5 and grew up on classical, he totally supports my love of Rock, Blues, Funk and we are trying to find me a new bass here near our home in Eastern France. You will find your Rush girl-we are out there! Hugs from France.

    Ending the video just after the first lick of The Spirit of Radio.
    Ugh.

      Ironic indeed.
      Think of it this way; Having been forced to wake every single day since that calamitous, heartbreaking one, to a colder, lonelier, and much emptier world of no more Neil, no more Rush, I'd gladly exchange with you. At least you had a few months of ignorant bliss. 💔🐇💔 🤟

      @@vorpalbunny4091 I despair that this inevitably will happen with all of our significants, yours, mine, everyone's. Honestly I've not even confronted the reality of that sort of impermanence yet, much less thought about how it will affect me. Scary, in a real way.
