  • On the 7th of October 2002, a Nurse drops her 13-year-old nephew Iran Brown, in front of Benjamin Tasker Middle School in Bowie, Maryland. Less than a second later, a bullet from a long-range rifle tears through his abdomen and leaves him bleeding on the floor. As his aunt-nurse races against time, bound for the emergency room, praying that her nephew will survive… the first question on anyone’s mind would be… why? Why would anyone target a child with that amount of firepower? But Iran Brown’s Aunt knew better. There was no method to this madness. Her nephew was just another unfortunate yet random victim of a coordinated killing spree that was ravaging the Washington Metropolitan Area. And as the police would rightfully fear, her sweet nephew wouldn’t be the last. Welcome or Welcome back to twisted minds. My name is James and today, we are going to deep dive into the cold and dreadfully violent case of the DC Snipers.

    Imagine kicking a child off their school bus in the middle of a series of random shootings just for eating candy. The bus driver and local government should've been held responsible for both that and the abhorrent decision to keep schools open during this time.

    • @kkwun4969
      @kkwun4969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +497

      bus drivers and teachers cream over the power they had over us. with one bus driver we would get written up for not following directions if we did our homework on the bus, if she even suspected our lips were moving because we would clinch our teeth when we expected a bump to throw us in the air she would yell at us for trying to sneak words out. the school i went to would hold kids back as many times as possible to milk the most amount of money per student (they get payed from the government by student) and so they would not teach in class if one kid laughs at anothers joke. the amount of coffee they drank was simply unhealthy and had similar effects of meth and to this day i only drink coffee when it is absolutely needed and i never EVER drink more coffee than a teaspoon can hold in fear of becoming like them.

      I found the whole thing really dumb, like why did they assume he wouldn't target children. He is a serial KILLER! I doubt he has the moral compass not to do so.

      @@keshi5541 Serial killers MOs usually only include a specific type of person, so if the killer isn't targeting children it isn't unreasonable to think they won't... in most cases. These two were killing at random, with nothing linking the victims, which should've made people realise that kids were not safe just because they hadn't been attacked yet, it's a baffling decision

    • @keshi5541
      @keshi5541 2 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      Exactly my point, from their attempts of linking the victims everything was at random like race, gender and even age.
      If a psychopath was killing people at random, I don't think the smartest idea would be to open up schools (Its also kind of making a test like whether the person would stoop so low).
      Also serial killers actually do kill children (there are many stories of this happening(. I can mention heaps that have done so. They aren't angels bro.
      Overall a dumb decision.

    I can't believe it was over 20 years ago this happened. I am 34 now. I was in Maryland and in the area during all this when it went down. It was really weird the psychological toll it takes on you. No one wants to go outside, get gas, go to the store, wait at a bus stop, walk out of a building, wait in the car, or anything. It was so randomized which is what got everyone. You may think, "It could never happen to me" but then out of nowhere, he shot you in the most random of places and you had no idea where it came from. Crazy how it seemed recent.

To be more specific, I did not know Mr Charlot and never met him but my dad was a handyman and people sometimes hired him to lay floor tile at the time and Pascal did really good masonry work or something like that so they sometimes worked together on jobs. Pascal had a sick wife (idk with what) and my dad was supposed to drive him to CVS to get a prescription for her that night. He ate some food my grandmother and I told him not to eat and then got an upset stomach (cheap carry out food) Pascal called him and he was like "Oh no, I don't feel like doing THAT now." and just let the phone ring. My dad and grandma let the phone ring a LOT. So, he avoided the call and Pascal had to walk. He was shot crossing Georgia Ave right near the CVS.

      @@brad144k Relax. Life is difficult with Government intervention because of Covid 19 but is not as bad as you may think. It is the usual story of political blame gaming that cause a lot of the problems. The issue with the lockdowns we had were caused by people who are basically 'professional demonstrators'. They were the big news items which made it worse than the general behaviour of most people who followed the rules. Many businesses were in dire straights due to the lockdowns where people weren't able to go to work unless you had an exemption which were issued to essential workers. Unless you were rich and probably a donor to a political party, you couldn't get an exemption other than work but no travel. Rich and famous could which caused a lot of anger with people who couldn't travel interstate to see family or be with loved ones who were sick and dying. We have six States and two Territories making up the country and because different parties were governing that State or Territory, they all made their own rules as to closing their borders for travel. This actually worked and now with most opened up again, there are many cases and I mean many of Covid being reported and death numbers are increasing. We have to wear a mask when shopping also check in with a QR code. A number of people who pass are ones that haven't been vaccinated or sadly, are elderly. We have similar problems as America where you have people who refuse to be vaccinated because they either don't trust the Government (who can blame them) or just on the "I wont be told what to do". Help this helps to answer your query. Stay healthy and stay safe.

    I grew up and still live in the DMV, and I definitely remember this time and the fear my parents must’ve had. My mom would carpool everywhere w her bff, along with her kids as well, and one mom would drop us all off at the door of whatever store we needed to go to, while the other mom would drive around while waiting. It made us all realize that our suburban bubble wasn’t truly safe

      I went to waffle house and right after my parents drove me to micheals so i could use my allowance to buy fabric from micheals because I was going to make my own halloween costume and then the loud popping sound, screams from onlookers and screaching tires sound filled the air. Someone later in the week was assembling bottle and pipe bombs and leaving them on school grounds at rippon middle school which obviously police thought it was the snipers but it turns out it was just some other lunatic playing dangerous games.
