    The virgin civ 5 babylon: oh u get some more great scientists and fancy walls

      Yep! Civ VI Babylon sounds to be much more close to the real life Babylon counterpart. Well, except for being simply obliterated off the face of the Earth and whoever survived the complete destruction of the Tower of Babel scattered to the four winds.

    I always wondered why the Ai sometimes builds Petra in cities with 2-3 tiles of dessert. Now i know. Civ Vi's AIs got Jon's levels of perception

    • @MrGhosta5
      @MrGhosta5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the ai only checks if their is a valid placement but not what the wonder would do. The ai just sees it has a desert tile and says I'll build Petra here. Petra is a trap. Currency is still early enough in the tech tree that the ai will research it before you. The ai will build petra in a city with few desert tiles so it has the advantage of working better tiles like grassland hills and can chop forest. Building Petra in an actual desert city will take too long as desert tiles are too trash to build petra. Settling on desert just to build petra is a terrible idea as your purposefully settling on terrible tiles just to build a wonder that makes those tiles just ok. I only try to build Petra if i'm already going to settle the desert for strategics/luxuries. If i get petra then my desert city is actually usable if not then i just stick a power plant in it to power the rest of my citys.

    Feel like this ability should actually be Sumers not Babylon. I can see a epic length game that stays in the Ancient Era alongtime feeling oddly fitting as Sumeria with all its mad advances compared to most everyone else. Interesting mechanic though forsure, can actually simulate early game tech giants.

    Good to see that Jon's first babylon game involves a lot of flooding right at the beginning. I mean we don't know exactly what happened but everyone seems to agree that a lot of gods were angry (or just disappointed) at humanity.

  • @MrGhosta5
    @MrGhosta5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    tech shuffle mode actually helps Babylon as it doesn't mater where a tech is because you still get the tech for getting the eureka and many techs naturally boost into each other. Archery could be at the end of the atomic era and it wouldn't mater as you'd still unlock it by turn 10 by killing a barb with a slinger. you then build 3 archers to get machinery and then upgrade to crossbows to get metal casting. The ai however gets screwed over as they have to go through the tech tree in whatever order it's in. You should be able to get a religion as you just need to find a natural wonder to unlock astrology before the ai and your first holy site already comes with a shrine letting you earn more great prophet points.

    Babylon sounds a bit OP. This k about research Manhattan Project. Nuclear bombs immediately become available.

    • @Skycroft1000
      @Skycroft1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not quite as powerful as it may seem: a lot of later techs simply don't have boosts or can only be boosted by Great Scientists that will only appear after the game has already ended (or spies that can only be used if you are behind in tech, which of course you wont be). In fact, the very tech you mentioned, Nuclear Fission, is one of them! 50% penalty ends up being a lot, so going for a science victory with them is more painful than you might think. Their ability is great for early rushes and specific catapult strategies, but it's not as good at carrying them over the finish line.

    • @5Andysalive
      @5Andysalive 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
