As a mushroom enthusiast, I found Jon's immediate categorisation of one of the most well-known mushroom species as "flowers" hilarious! Also, I would never, ever eat any mushroom uncooked, even chanterelles. That's a surefire way to spend the night in the bathroom, talking to the porcelain god... Even edible mushrooms are actually fairly tough on the stomach and should be cooked for at least 7-10 minutes.
Another survival game that makes another of the cardinal sins. Forcing the player to rearrange their inventory with the inventory in the house IN the house. Just include everything in the house inventory when crafting and stop making the player do meaningless inventory management for things that are already there. Or allow for each crafting station to have its' own inventory slots that allow you to put the food with the cooking station and the crafting materials in the crafting bench. Inventory juggling IS NEVER compelling game-play.
Pulling from all available inventories within a simple range is the best solution, kinda like how in Minecraft you can craft from your inventory not just your hotbar, it's especially bad in slot based systems, but sometimes it can make you appreciate your inventory more, by making sure you only have what you need with you, rather than just carrying everything around with you at all times
So it's basically the Long Dark but nice instead of scary? Also, game you should play, the Long Dark. Makes you understand why all of human history has been an attempt to get as far away from nature as possible.
I prefer The Long Dark for that kind of thing. You can make it very hard, it also has a Zen mode though, either way in summer when its to hot IRL, it makes you feel a lot cooler if you see the canadian wilderness with all the snow and ice caverns
So, while your seeing an "eye" as a warning, a bear would see a nose and his nose is 100 times more sensitive than yours. If you can smell something at 1 meter away, a bear can smell it at 100 meters. Honest.

Obligatory, "please play The Long Dark" comment. Also, if you enjoy beautiful survival crafting games, I also definitely HIGHLY recommend "The Forest". Allows for building things more free-form. The normal game mode, however, is scary as *flip* so you could play on "Vegan Mode" to not deal with all the.... horrors. Although, I will say, it has some of the absolute most creepy and unnerving enemy AI I've seen in any game. It's brilliant.

I enjoy the inventory management in The Long Dark, but even then, it's probably because it allows you to drop items and decorate with them.
To be fair, the game is still pre-alpha so the current system may not be what actually ships with the game. 🤷♂️
