Finally the days of playing Civilization Revolution for years is now over.

I love how the choice for settling at the start was the age old coffee or tea debacle
As a true Brit, Jon starts with looking for tea.
Finding fantastic campus spots everywhere, but it doesn't matter since you're playing Korea with Seowons.
Jon, go for the slower speed on a larger map. It gives your units more time to move across the map and for you to explore. On regular speed you don’t have enough time to move armies and whatever across the world
on quick and standard speed your units will often become obsolete by the time you've marched them across the map. it's not as bad in civ 6 as it was in civ 5 due to civ 6 having less intermediate units.
@@MrGhosta5 yea that's for sure true. That's why I've found that standard map size on epic speed is best for unit utilization and mobilization
Also Jon, the Korean campus gets NO effect from mountains. Always +4 but -1 if next to other districts

The irony of getting 5 mountains for science adjacency...after picking the one civilization in the game for which campuses (seowons) don't get mountain adjacency :).

Jon please read the civilpedia. korea's unique campus doesn't get adjacency bonuses. they get -1 science for adjacent districts and give adjacent mines and farms+1 science.
I know you'll probably never read this but the Korean campus doesn't get adjacency from mountains. You could have put it on the desert tile and tossed a holy site in there on a +5 from mountains alone while keeping your 4 Sci on a near otherwise useless tile.
Kept watching and you realized your mistake exactly as I would. Reading some civilopedia is a huge help. 😅
Civ 6 was nice and all, but in my heart of hearts I'm still holding on for a Civ 3 port

Jon, you may not have noticed/understood the Korean campus
but if you look when you put it down, it offered you +4 when tucked away or +4 out in the open above you
Korea's Campus can only be placed on a hill, but gives +4 no matter the adjacency -- it is better to place in the open where it can buff surrounding mines and farms for them being next to it
the place you used for the Campus would have been a crazy good Religious spot for tho; or good for any district if you could have locked down Macchu Picchu (unlikely in deity)

I'm not even sure it's a question of fixing - it's just slightly frustrating that it's so far behind the PC version - and that the PC version is moving further and further ahead. The PC's moved on to 2.5 already, and I believe console is still back at 1.7, with no noise on when the major 2.0 transition will happen.
@@ManyATrueNerd that's horrible Jon I love Paradox's games along with Behold studios Knights of Pen and paper and other ones like it but I'd love to finally be able to play MegaCorp on console I've found I'm not good at building up a navy or army rather at expanding,trading and resources along with Defense packs

I don't know about pounds but here in the US on ps4 the base game is $59.99 without tax , the expansion bundle is $49.99 without tax. That's $109.98 not including sales tax.
Seems a bit pricey to me but definitely first on my list of games during a sale.

Well, now I'm motivated to crank up my win98 virtual machine and play some civ 2.
I think they did a decent job at porting Civilization II from the PC to the Playstation One.
I only have one question about this otherwise perfect port, on the Switch version you can press - to show the name and details of different buttons. This was very useful for me due to the fact that im a total beginner. My question is, by pressing select(or 2 boxes) does it show these names/details? Its the equivalent of holding the cursor over some thing on pc

How do you enable world builder on switch version?
Does it run at 60 or 30 fps? Is the resolution 4k or 1080p? The Microsoft store only says "xbox one x enhanced" without going into specifics.

Oh how we have been washed. It's now perfectly fine to talk about a 50$ game as a "base" game. And accept twice that much as a normal addition for it. Ideally long before the "base game" even runs somewhat bug free.
Weirdly, if Paradox and Firaxis do it, people applaud. If EA, Ubi or Bethesda do it, they get slaughtered..
Kinda excluding Creative Assembly. While they do the DLc cash-in as well, theirs are not remotely as epxensive per content as these two. And they don't sell basic features for extra money (hoi4 spearheads, 80% ofStellaris midgame) .
Yeah weirdly enough I still remember buying Warcraft 3, getting a long and amazing game for sixty bucks and then getting a cheaper, slightly less content expansion, which made the experience even better.
Now it seems ok to buy a game for sixty bucks that has been obviously rushed and cut into pieces and those pieces are then sold for 15 bucks back to us.
And for some reason, people are generally ok with this now. I may be old, but I will never understand this. You cannot even say that it is more difficult to make games today, cause game-making tools are now so simple that even I can do 3D models and good quality pixel art. Not to mention we have software that can literally generate entire game worlds with almost no need for human hand.
Strange times we live in.
Civ 6 base game is at least as good as the full Civ 5, and I happily put 200 - 300 hours into it. Not bad for $50, or more likely $30 on sale.
@@Septimus_ii Civ 6 base game literally has less features and content than full DLC Civ 5. I'm surprised they didn't cut out religion to put inside an expansion again.
Well they aren't getting away with it with me $130 for a three year old game, hoping it will go on sale before I buy it because the DLC costing as much as a console game that came out this year is beyond ridiculous.
Is the price for this game the same for the U.S? And all those extra leaders too? For Xbox. Really want get this but want it to be on sale or something.

I played Civ2 on the Playstation 1 in the 90s so I guess it's not that new.
Jon, I played it on switch. Late game, it kept crashing and couldn't load my save.
Can climate change be turned off or can you set the amount of climate change in gathering storm. I'm thinking about buying the expansion pack because I want the other civilizations but I don't like the idea of my costal cities going under water.
The barbarians in this game saw the nerds down in Korea and just had to attack them.
I brought the Stellaris season pass version on PS4 for £25 in a PS Plus sale. It seems to play fine, what's missing? (apart from my time ;-D)
I hope they bring over CK, maybe they'll wait for the PS5.

Gold standard for a PC to console strategy game port? I dunno, I'm impressed with what Paradox has released (Stellaris, Age of Wonders: Planetfall)

I'm in favour of being able to play from my sofa with a controller. I can't hunch over a keyboard and mouse so much these days.
xbox one has mouse and keyboard support now. only about a dozen games have it enabled though.
$80 Canadian for base game, $70 for the large and necessary DLC.....For a 3 year old game...Which I am dying to play. Will most likely give in. Unfortunately, as it is really a huge fuck you to the consumer.

Jon seems to not know his Asian history. Korea was always, and still is, a civilization centered around science and engineering. You don't need too help them create more of what their already spectacular at.
They should sell it with 2 expansions , not separate ...it is too expensive for console....i prefer PC or iPad version
