The INFAMOUS Pickle Rick episode... was this one your favorite? How did it make you f e e l?
This episode is amazing, though 3x7 or the season finale for season 3 are the best in Rick and Morty. Not that seasons 4 and 5 aren’t as good, they just aren’t perfect lol. The worst episodes are still better than some other shows’ best

apparently the theme of this episode was analogous to alcoholism. they didn't mention it outright until the very end. but if you notice throughout the whole show ricky and beth are both VERY heavy drinkers. and they never even brought it up in therapy. but at the end of the episode you can see rick and beth straight flat-out ignore morty and summer to go drink.
Rick is literally "pickled" for the entire Episode
There's this weird kind of dynamic between the show and its fans, because for a lot of fans, Rick is this super awesome badass who sees life as it is, beyond the illusions, and who people should strive to be more like, but the show constantly points out that Rick is emotionally damaged with a toxic personality who's hurting his family with his constant demands to be the center of attention.
Yeahh, it's a tough thing to kinda deal with. Because I do appreciate that he has this view of like "fuck it, this is how it is". But when you think that way about EVERYTHING, it's going to be tough to climb out of that hole.
It's nice to see you pick up on how dysfunctional the whole family dynamic is. In a way it's really really sad but then they distract us with absurd Rick adventures and we push it all to the back of our mind.
It is VERY dysfunctional...but it makes for a great time!

Dan Harmon admitted that this episode is the least scientific of them all. While Jerry doesn't appear in it, his voice actor is one of the Russian flunkies. The part where Morty's teacher admits his poop-eating problem is a callback to when the Federation bugs were occupying Earth. He led the resistance in the sewers. Apparently, the regular food ran out. (I think I'd rather eat a rat.) Dr. Wong pretty much nails all of the Smith family's issues, if you ask me.
I didn't even put 2 and 2 together with the teacher, that's kinda funny but also really sad 😂Yeah I'd agree though, the therapist isn't saying anything none of us would say about them 😅
This is one of the best, and most significant, episodes of the series. Once you realize it's a play on "pickled" meaning drunk, the whole episode is actually very thematically and emotionally important. With lots of silliness too, which is the Dan Harmon way.
I really liked what they did with Beth's character in this season. Dunno why but I've always associated with her and seeing her as a human being was the highlight
This season gave her a TON of character development and it's something I was very ready for. Her peak is S3 for sure (idk beyond that cause I'm not there 😅)

.....in a certain sense, certainly not. But, I mean, I'm not actually well enough informed to be the one to tag myself in on this but one thing that occurs to me is a main concern for a pickle trying to stay "alive" after having a chunk shot out would be moisture loss. So, squeezing out the juice of another eudicot onto the wounded area may well help keep the area moist. Similar to how we would want to apply pressure to minimize blood loss, a cucumber that has been saturated in brine for weeks may well want to apply moisture to a wound. As far as him stapling a pickle slice to his body (XDDDD), I mean, it makes about as much sense as any film or TV depiction of cauterization. Spoiler alert, it's a delicate medical procedure, you can't just burn your body healed. That's..... There's a reason that sentence sounds like word soup. Heat makes things melt. Putting fire/a hot sword on a wound will just add a second wound. But they keep showing it in movies as a reference to actual cauterization. So, sure, it makes _that much_ sense for Rick to staple a pickle wedge to his pickle body (XDD), yes
Beyond that, I don't know of tomato slices to be a particularly anti bacterial food stuff, I guess if the burger had herbs on it rubbing that on the area might have been a good nod to some "science", but after the tomato he puts mustard on himself to "seal" the pickle wedge (...XDDDDD), so I think it's pretty much just a burger reference more than an actual nod to .... the crossroad between medical practice and ....... produce shelf life care.....? (XDDDD this show is so insane, I love it)

This episode is soooo good. Its trendy to not put it your top episodes list but thats just because its THAT good.
I can see why some people love it and then why some people refuse to say how good it is. But taking the insane pop culture boost it got away, it's a great episode!
@@EversPrimeTime i totally agree. By the way, when beth said "racist name by the way" she was breaking the 4th wall and talking to the writers room. A non Asian person definitely chose the name "wong". Hilarious writing
This episode is a double-edged sword because such a huge part of the fandom completely ignored the emotional core that was great about it and just took the part with "Heck yeeeah, Pickle Rick!" as some kind of milestone moment in comedy... And while Rick's reasons for becoming a pickle are a bit humorous, that moment itself is nothing special except for being an easily quoted reference point.
It's wild, because going into this blind, I never knew the episode was about anything other than Rick being a pickle. But yeah, seeing the b plot, it's a bit...sad in a way.

like, you've created this clever show about a really dysfunctional guy and his family, and it's full of genuinely intelligent scifi stuff and philosophy stuff and even a bunch of egan-style transhumanism, and you think your fan base gets it, but for some reason people keep calling them toxic
so then you make an episode that's like "okay, let's just make it abundantly clear, rick is NOT a good person just because he cares deep down, and beth's enabling of him is ABSOLUTELY harmful to the children" so people will stop calling your fans toxic
and then instead they are literally exactly as toxic as rick and ignore the therapist's uncomfortable truths exactly as hard as rick did
no wonder roiland flipped out and went evil

@So Everdream the answer to your question at 13:55 this is the world that everyone was turned into a kronenburg (not sure if I spelled it right) and got fixed which made them accept bizzare stuff happening from time to time more easily, same applies when the federation invaded them.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so in this universe, they were still turned into the kronenburgs but Rick was able to fix it? I know after the federation comes it makes a bit more sense. But lord, none of these people have a baseline for "normal" 😂
@So Everdream yes it was seen at the newspaper on season 1 b4 the rick&morty of the current world blew up and died, and they are at the point that as long as the aliens or new creatures are not harming anyone everyone will be just chill about it
