  • These are the settings I use on the ohme app to get the most out of the Intelligent Octopus Go EV tariff when charging my 2023 MG4 at home.
    If you found this video useful and would like to sign up to intelligent octopus or another octopus energy tariff you can use my referral link so that we both get £50 off our next bill: share.octopus.energy/mint-cra... Enjoy!

    You want to disable the price cap when using intelligent go as it'll charge at the off peak rate during the day often to. With the peak set it'll never charge outside 11:30 - 5:30 on the off peak rate. That's the main difference between Octopus Go and Octopus Intelligent Go.

      I’ve done too. I will try and edit the video thanks for the comment.

    Great video, nice and clear, thanks.
    I've a question - having just got an Ohme charger (today), how does the Charge Schedule work against the Charge Target in the Dashboard screen? That is, if you set a Charge Target in the Dashboard that's different to something in the Charge Schedule, which one 'wins'?

      I think I understand what you're asking.... I believe the charge target in the dashboard is if you want to override the scheduled charge plan.
      If you need to charge the vehicle before the off peak time you can bump charge and set a target it so it ignores the schedule.

      Also just to add you can disable price cap, it's all done automatically when if you use intelligent octopus. You can also switch off the charge preferences, save money, optimise battery life and favour green energy...

      @@ohshootvidz - yes, that's what I was trying to get my head around. Thanks.

    If i got home from work and realised the battery was a bit low and I needed to go out in a couple of hours and wanted to add some charge can you just plug in and force it to charge for 2 hours? Do you have to let it work out a charge schedule first and then if it's not compatible with when I want to use the car i.e I want to use it earlier than the intelligent schedule is due to start can I override the schedule and force it to start charging?

      @ohshootvidz  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can force it to charge when you want.

    Doesn’t octopus do all the scheduling for you? Have you linked the charger to your octopus account

    • @ohshootvidz
      @ohshootvidz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have linked the charger to my octopus account, for cars who open up access to their api the scheduling is done for you… The smart bit even without api access, is that the charger knows when the rates are low and only charges during those times unless you bump charge to start charging immediately.
      In my case I have to set the schedule myself as without api access the charger doesn’t know the state of charge of the car. Its no issue at all it takes 2secs to choose how much % you want to add.

      @@ohshootvidz ahh ok. I have a Tesla where I connect to the car (worked for 18months). But we are getting an ID4 next week and trying to work out if this charger (have a hypervolt atm) will smart charge both so I can get more then the 6hour window on the vw aswell as the tesla (if required)

    I think you have set up the charging schedule completely wrong! The whole point of intelligent is to hand over control of the charging process to Octopus to help balance the grid. This is the complete opposite and may well get you kicked off the tariff!

      @ohshootvidz  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your car (MG4 in my case) doesn’t share its API with ohme this is the way to do it. Since filming you don’t need to select the off peak rate limit or additional charge preferences.

    • @andrewthomas9305
      @andrewthomas9305 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To set it up correctly with a car that doesn’t have a compatible API you have to disable all vehicle based charging settings. You then program OHME to ADD home much you want to charge up to. So if your car is at 50% and you want to charge to 80% you have to ADD 30% and by what time you want it to be charged by. Then when you plug the car in by Octopus will send OHME a charge schedule. No disrespect intended by your video is misleading and may result in people setting the charger up incorrectly

      @@andrewthomas9305no disrespect taken, i’m learning as well. As far as I can tell it’s working fine i’ve had 0 issues.
      The only difference from when I filmed is that i’ve disabled the price cap and I vary the scheduled departure times based on my needs and octopus does the rest… its working perfectly fine. I get off peak rates during peak hours every time I plug in. I’ll make another video to show this.
