thank you for sharing, I never tried the petri technique because I don't have alcohol inks including of course the white, the sinker. I was going to try with a white indian ink I found on a art supplies store but forgot, I only have my micas (sahara, big investment) and pastes (local Argentinian brand) so buying a whole set of alcohol inks was a big investment I had to think about. UV resin and its machine will also a big investment but it could be a game-changer to start doing a lot of new techniques... (can't wait to try making some labradorites, my favorite stone)
Wow, that last large purple & white heart looked like an orchid. Absolutely stunning!!! I am very new to resin art and cannot wait to try this out ❤❤❤❤❤
You made perfect roses!! Try using acetone instead of alcohol. It thinks UV resin, but doesn’t break it down like alcohol does. You can also try white gel polish. Use it straight or thin it with acetone.
Whoa. That looks like a white rose. I’m impressed. Late to watch as had lightning storms and heavy rain here. Too humid to pour which sucks. ❤❤❤ this technique.
I am hooked on your experiments, I feel the need to binge watch your videos, being as I only started following you yesterday. Stunning results especially the white ones, the coloured one with the smoky backing reminds me if an iced gem. The best is the largest heart 😊
Beautiful! I used your link for the resin inks! They were on sale from $18.99 US reduced to $10.79 PLUS your discount code reduced the price by another 10%! Thank you Daniel 🌟🌟😊😊😊
As a relative newcomer to resin art & UV in particular, your videos & guudes are not only helpful but inspiring too mate, thanks for the effort & clarity in them. Cheers 👍
Daniel you are phenominal!! There are no words to discribe you. I look for you every time I get on my computer! I love to see your experiments. As usual you have done terrific and I really enjoy watching whatever you plan to do! Thank you so much 🤩💞
You are amazingly talented and a pioneer in the art of uv resin! These are gorgeous. I just love it, thank you so much for always sharing your work with us and helping us to really learn from you. ❤
OMG! That last one is amazing! It’s fantastic to not only see the results of your experiments but to understand how and why your are achieving them. I am in awe . . .
Oh my gosh, I am so in love with this technique! When you were talking about the colors needing to spread and not sink my mind went to my 3 new bottles of high-viscosity uv resin, you know that I have a new toy and need to use it feeling, so I used the high vis for the clear part of the heart and regular for the colors and white. I works great but I can't wait to try it with the low vis that is on order as we speak...lol
This video is one that I need to watch a couple of times. Need the playback speed at about half. I just love the effects you are getting. They kind of look like a flower made with a silk ribbon.
WOO-HOO! YOU DID IT, Dan, you cracked it! A pastel Petri effect *_with spores!_* 👍😊💕 That's beautiful! I actually liked all the ones you made. Those first white roses were gorgeous! SO...maybe now you'll believe us when we tell you, you're a genius?! HUGE *CONGRATULATIONS!* Chef's kiss! 😘
Ohhh Daniel! These are great! I thought I’d struck lucky with petri coaster, I saw spores as I unmoulded it, then in the middle was a few big white splotches😢
Wow, great effects! I love the way you apply yourself to getting the results you want, instead of giving up on uv resin. Brilliant! I'm wondering if it's possible to use this technique to get 'flower petals' in uv resin. Obviously there's a size limit, so that might restrict it, but those thin veils of opaque colour that you achieved, just might work for concentric 'C' shapes maybe...?
Very interesting. Whilst we love your UV resin experiments we hope you get back to 2 part epoxy ones soon. UV resin is too expensive in Australia to buy so we only use in smaller projects. Keep up your ground breaking art and leading the way. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Those are beautiful!! I have redoing our sunroom into my craft room right now and all of my things are packed up! I can’t wait to get it finished so I can try this!! Great job! Btw I have learned so much from your videos!!
Hey Daniel, Mary Klaus here, did you pass science with flying colors in school? You are so smart. Love this. Cant wait to try it. Btw this is my new TH-cam channel, hope you stop by.
Thank you so much for this experiment. I have tried and wasted a lot of uv resin trying to get this look! I would love to see if we can mix a few colors with it!
I've been doing similar experiments! For color, I've droppered UV safe pigments (YRYM HT 24 color uv resin liquid dye), then carefully mixed and spread them across the surface layer of the uv resin, then dropped my low-alcohol sinker onto that. I've also been using JDiction UV resin, which comes in 3 viscosities. I'm hoping that I can get a tiny bloom to work in their high viscosity resin. Their low viscosity uv resin can be spread thin evenly and is great for hollow casting 3d objects. I'm so glad I've found your channel! Maybe I should try to get over my shyness and join some of your other social media groups. 😊
Would putting some of the alcohol into a bottle that comes with a glass pipette help to measure out your drops better? Or putting some into a bottle (with a cap) with a needle tip nozzle help with measuring? Different amount may be used in different days due to conditions, how much you are using etc. But I was thinking if you are trying to make several small batches per craft session, could it help make a difference is what I am wondering?
Amazing video!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Your amazing! I have a question for you though since you work with UV resin a lot I’ve seen a few videos where they’re saying the UV yellows extremely fast. Do you find that you have a problem with that?
Thank you!! I knew it all yellows sooner or later, but I didn’t know if the UV yellow even without being in the sun so I didn’t want to sell a necklace to someone and one or two months down the road it’s yellowed. Thank you so much though.
This is amazing! Do you think there’s an alternative to the pigment paste. I only do UV stuff and the let’s resin paste is quite expensive and I don’t need such a big bottle. Could I make my own with mica and uv resin do you think?
Thanks Julia, sadly, mica just won't work the same, you may still get some pretty designs and worth an experiment. The pigment paste is a little expensive for its size but trust me, this bottle will last me so long, probably around 8 months to 1 year, even making blooms so it's definitely worth it 😊
@@daniel..cooper If I'm being honest, I'd hate for you to stop lol.. I've only recently started watching you and love your videos.. you've got me back into resin again, I should hopefully be able to start again tomorrow 🤞
Hi Mr Cooper I have a question please and thank you. I purchased the 18 colors let's resin solid colors epoxy resin pigment macaron resin dye will these work with this project? I hope so. If not do you have a project that these will work with? Thank you
You can but it's very risky. This works as it disperses the pigment, then by leaving it, some of the alcohol evaporates leaving the pigment to do it's job of sinking, and you need much less than dropping say 1 drop of alcohol ink onto the resin.
1:16 I am only this far in & maybe I should wait until the end but I may have to stop & come back to the finish the video & being me, I may then forget my question so please bear with me. Is it possible to create coloured sinker instead of white?
You're a genius, man 😮 This is so wicked cool - can't wait to try this!
Thanks Gale 😊 it's crazy! 😂
My favourite is the very last heart! It looks like some kind of an exotic orchid. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks Pauline 😊

outstanding! looks like a white rose, or clouds. Love it!
Just gorgeous. You've convinced me to give UV resin another go.
Thank you so much Laura 😊😊
You made perfect roses!! Try using acetone instead of alcohol. It thinks UV resin, but doesn’t break it down like alcohol does. You can also try white gel polish. Use it straight or thin it with acetone.
Thanks, I did think about using the acetone as I have before but I needed such a tiny amount of alcohol, I didn't think it needed to be changed 😊😊
Blown away by this. Congratulations on this new technique

Hi Daniel.. I have come across your channel and I’m loving it! New to resin.. I’m wondering if there’s a knack to polishing resin at all? x
I haven't needed to try yet 😊
Love the effect Daniel...can you use pigment dye instead of pigment paste?
It may not sink to give a petri effect.
Cool! Gonna definitely give it a try. So what is the purpose of covering it up? Is it to protect from light or to slow the evaporation of the alcohol?
Yes, just protection and a little evaporation 😊

I have had it yes, sadly all resin does, best advice and aftercare for any resin art is to minimise exposure to sunlight 😊
