Just did this. Worked perfectly. On the Home Depot pump I bought, the plastic pipe was too small to just tap with a 1/8 NPT tap. I heated up the end of it and jammed a 1/4" barb fitting in there leaving the 1/8 NPT male piece sticking out. Then I added a 1/8 NPT female/-4AN male to it and connected it to the hose that goes to my oil pressure sensor. no leaks. The handle on mine has a lock so you can squeeze the trigger and lock it. This way you can pump it up, lock it open and just leave it until the pressure is gone. These pumps aren't made for oil so it takes a while but locking it open you can just stand there and watch the oil level in the tank go down. Thanks Jordan!
Thanks Jordan. As you said a simple but effective method. In the 1960's my Dad built a pneumatic system based in a grease gun and it pumped 2 quarts just like your simpler system.
Thank you Jordan! I did a Head and cam swap on my 02 Lightning and thanks to you I made my own pump using a 1/4 fitting though. Went through the sending unit.
Guys the oil sending unit is a 1/4" NPT, which is an air compressor fitting! Idk why they complicated the hell out of this! Just get a 3/8fuel line, the $5 band clamp kit from harbor freight and a pump weed sprayer while youre there, and you're golden! A 1/4 NPT air fitting is like $1. Just be careful when threading it into the aluminum threads because the fittings are typically steel. Do NOT use brass.
just what I needed.. my 4.6 has been sitting for over a year and needs priming before starting. i had the idea of pumping oil into the oil pressure switch but not sure how until seeing this vid. already have a HD sprayer, can't wait to try this, thanks
So darn random I found this, I was wondering wtf I was gonna do with mod motor being built! You just literally are gods gift!! Lol cause this is the one thing people don’t do they just sits there and crank the engine over Tilll it starts and that’s how the engine would have failure
How do you replace the -6 adapter with the intended pressure sensor without making a mess? It is that just to be expected and speed is required? Thx great vid
Great video. I was just thinking how the hell am I going to prime my termi with the crank driven oil pump. Here's the answer! I have bought alot of parts from you and I still have more to go
Would you prime it like this before adding full capacity oil to the engine? I have a fresh 4.6 dohc that is totally sealed, no oil yet, and want to prime it this week. Prime then fill I assume correct?
M.H.S./ I heard from some you tube videos that the back cylinders #4 -8 on the coyote heads are getting to hot and taking out there intake valves losing compression in those 2 back cylinders, I know the 2 back cylinders get the coolant last. But please make a video on what a person can do to eliminate this from happening, have you heard of this problem? Your feed back would be appreciated..
Jordan to do and oil pump/ gear do you have to remove the valve lash adjusters or can you lock the cams at tdc and remove the chain etc to install the new pump/gear??
I had a 98 cobra engine rebuilt with forged rods and pistons and i had a garage fire, luckily the engine was in the shop at the time, but with no car to out it in, the engine sat for 6 years. I recent installed the rebuilt (0 miles since rebuild) engine and I turned the motor by hand and poured oil over everything but didn't pour oil in the cylinders. I tried starting the car for the first time today and it was a crank/no start. I got a weird noise, almost like a popping in the intake, like when the timing is off. It makes me think the crank sensor is bad. Any suggestions? Done all the normal diagnosing except spark, that will be tmw. But even with zero spark, I'm still xonfused on the popping noise since everything new.

Once primed its PRIMED .. only reason to re prime it is if you wait 3 years to install it. like wise pulling fuel pump fuse works and then cranking or holding throttle wide open ... but making a cheap prime canister is good practice because you eliminate you as the engine builder from the dumb ass owner not bothering to prime.

Not enough Coyote content online these days. Thanks for sharing this info!
Try running 5.4's in Australia......Almost like a denial they exist.

I do this every summer, after my cars has sat for months in the winter. Just for my own mind. Maybe over kill but it so easy to do.

Curious, why no Brass? I was going to go your route just curious on why no bass ntp?
Jordan coming through with practical knowledge as always!

Great video! Thanks 😊
Thanks a lot Jordan for tech tips DIY engine priming!
Will this work for a 2v V10?
What is the best way to pre-oil one?
Thank you. Nice video
Lots of good content. I'll be ordering up a bunch of parts this week. I'll make sure I try this priming method.

Jordan you are the man ! Thanks for this gem 💎
Good stuff Jordan. I really look forward to your videos.
hey my engine builder …. finally gonna start it 6 years later 🤣
I really enjoy your videos.
Would this be a smart thing to do if my coyote swap car has been sitting for a year?
Nice tip mmr has 1 $$$$. Would u suggest motor flush to clean a used opened 4.6l sohc
Fastest and easiest way to do it!
Nice job will this lube the crank as well ?
Good stuff
Good job. I like your work
In addition to that would it be beneficial to mist some oil on the cam lobes and chains as well before the valve covers go on?
Can you use a air powered pump? Or would that so damage? Like a heavy truck repair compressor lined fluid pump
Another great video!

Question about stock pans, I noticed crown Vic pans have a factory windage tray, is there any clearance issues with using them on a mustang ?

I forgot to state, my vehicle is a 2016 f150 5.0 on the 2 back cylinders getting to hot and taking out intake valves losing compression. THANKS.
Whats the torque spec and sequence for reinstalling the sensor
Jordan to do and oil pump/ gear do you have to remove the valve lash adjusters or can you lock the cams at tdc and remove the chain etc to install the new pump/gear??
so you could basically do this with any ford mod motor?
Pretty much find the oil pressure sensor & hook up your garden sprayer.
Do you use the same breaking oil for the 4.6
