  • Years ago, my father sometimes used “puddle jumper” to describe certain small, low-priced cars used for getting around, back in the day when the VW Beetle reigned supreme and tiny Japanese sedans started making their way to North America. The term originally derived from a slang description of a small passenger airplane, one typically used for shorter connecting trips to smaller airports.
    What we have here are two modern-day equivalents, subcompact crossovers with low (sub-$20K) initial retail prices that are marketed to a young audience, and while certainly capable of highway travel, function best as intra-urban transportation. The more senior of the two, Nissan’s Kicks, has been in production since 2016, first showing up in Canada in 2018. With Canadian sales exceeding 16,000 last year, it’s one of the more popular models in its class and part of the fastest growing segment in the country.

    Venue's Snow Mode provides power to the front wheel with traction, like 1/2 an AWD system. This was completely ignored

    The venue takes the winner here. Better warranty and the value for your money for sure. Another good vehicle from Hyundai!

    I test rode both today. I found the Venue is much better. Better handling better CVT by far and smoother motor. I was really let down by the Nissan mainly due to the harsh CVT.

      @Thor Odin son Glad you answered me. If you allow me, what I really ment is that you cannot called crap bra cause it's a budget car and it sits at the beginning of the chain (I didn't say bottom). If you say so, it looks arrogant and full of it since it can be taken as "I am richer than you and I can afford better than you". I own a simple budget car, a 2012 Rio and guess what, I have had 0 problem with it. At the time this what I could afford and I always knew what kind of car I was buying and what kind of car a Rio is. I'm a very relaxed guy who has always driven slowly. My nature. And I don't spend mtl money, which I have fluently btw, but I Invest it. At the time I worked as a free lance. Would I buy an Audi and a big SUV to go to Walmart and visit friends that live 2 km away? No these low end cars are not crap and their build quality is the same but I give it to you, the finishing touch as a full lining underneath is non existent. Not a problem of built quality. When you buy a Kicks, you know what you buy. Ig you buy an Armada you also supposed to know what you buy. Do you think an Armada or a Rogue is trouble free?

    Thank you. I was looking at both and I also think that hyundai is a better value. The fact the you get a sunroof, rear disc brakes and the snow drive mode seems to me like a better value than what Nissan offers.

    Here in india venue is a sub 4 meter car as per our motor rule for tax concession and kicks is bigger and more expensive than venue. Sales wise venue is off the charts and kicks is struggling.

  • @Jan96106
    @Jan96106 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Kicks does have disc brakes on all wheels 2023. They both have the same features, except it does not come with a sunroof. The Kicks has more room for legs and in the cargo area. Yes, it is sportier looking. Both top line versions have the same features. The Limited does not have a sunroof. The 2023 SEL Venue does not, I believe, have rear disc brakes. Also, push button start is only optional on the SEL version.

      @Jonathan Losito Only the base Venue can have the manual, and 99% of the ones on the dealer lots will be mid and higher trim level. So good luck finding one without a CVT.

    comparing a Nissan with the rubber band cvt to Hyundai with steel belt cvt shows Hyundai is better. so is the warranty and features for the price. especially the rear disc brakes!

      @@nodak81 .....there are many good reviews on cars with CVTs....I've been reading and reading and reading about different cars for 3 wks now trying to find which is best to buy, and apparantly the more recent CVTs are alot better than the older ones, except for some really good old ones like my friends 13yr old Nissan Versa with 89,000 miles that I am now driving, and it has never given my friend any trouble since day 1 back 13 yrs ago. Apparantly (from reviews) Nissan Versa's are either REALLY GREAT or REALLY HORRIBLE, as far as the CVT transmission goes anyway,.....my friend obviously got the better one, which is why I decided to keep it, fix the a/c, and let it run its course which is supposedly over 150,000 according to the reviews.......and the CVT in this car is also GREAT !.....great power and great mpg !

    Both would be faster if they were wind powered. When they are inefficient because they are working so hard just to get up a hill, you know you have a serious issue. A bicycle works great around town as well. That said, you buy a new car like this because you want the warranty and the texh. The Hyundai destroys the Kick in both
