Ektar is so beautiful. I’ve always loved its color and the rendering of shadows. This was a great video, y specially liked the photos of the girls and the monument, the masked line, and even if you didn’t print it. The old lady in the fountain.
Another great video colours are fantastic love the picture of the 2 ladies walking across the Square real stand out shot always look forward to your next video great escapesen in these crazy times
My favourite is the one where you captured the large building and the lady in blue dress! There is a great thing with your photos where you see the faces of the people, it makes such a huge difference compared to hiding behind a mask! Also great to see summer light via your photos, is is SOO missed now with barely any sun and short days! Keep up the great work!
I really like the Ektar 100 and its colors! Unfortunately I shoot it very seldom, I guess I should use this stock more often... Especially during the summertime it really shines! I like your Rom photos a lot, great video, as always!
This episode reminds me of your Amesterdam episode, which turely touched me, and then I started my street photography! What a good time back there, man can just shoot shoot shoot :D Today is a little bit harder. But glad that you always carry on, sir! Keep it up!!!
Adoro assolutamente la foto con le due ragazze che camminano con il monumento preso perfettamente grazie alla PEN. Complimenti, spero di poterle vincere io le tue stampe :D un saluto dall'Italia!!!!
I’m an avid watcher of the channel I follow you on Instagram your work is what inspires me to go do street photography once I have a decent collection of images I am making an Instagram dedicated to street photography thanks for always putting out brilliant work
My favorite is the last one of the three men. I really like that while the man taking the photo is the main focus having the other two people in frame helps to balance the image
Someone said that ektar was the only reason why he was still shooting film nowadays. It is not the only reason to me, but some of my favorite shots ever were taken on this film. Ektar, Xpan and Rome, what a great combination
Thanks for suggesting to overexpose Ektar by 1-2 stops to lessen the red skin tones. I had not heard that previously. I will try it on the streets of Portland, Oregon.
Ektar is the superior street and documentary colour negative film. I love the colours, it looks like old cinema film. The Vatican shots look like they're stills from a Sean Connery Bond film. I'd love to see some Provia again if you have any. ✌️
As always, great pleasure to watch your videos! The girls on St. Peter's square look really cinematic, my favorite shot is the three guys (one taking a photo on his phone) right after that one though. Would love to have it :-)
I agree, your photo choice 8.18 is spectacular! The composition, colours, width and movement are stunning! Please pick me! I would love that photograph for my office!
Thanks a lot, Robin for this nice photo walk. Colors are absolutely fabulous, for sure. Maybe at two times you are too late to take the perfect shoot (couple with red clothes and Roman legions guys, and old woman, father and daughter around the fountain), the xpan is clearly an incredible device, but maybe not the most responsive at the level of settings. When I miss the perfect instant for few like that, I feel sad. But it's part of the game ! This difficult, that's why we love street photography so much.
love the images, really like your work. But I have question, how do you have the confidence to just take pictures or random people like that, do any of them ever say anything about it or get annoyed? and is the 100 ISO not limiting in shutter speed especially with overexposing it by one stop too?
this is my 4th attempt and Rome is my city... I think this could be the one! Plus, I really love this pics and I'd really love to frame them and have them in my house in Rome, especially the one in St. Peter's square with the 2 girls, my fave.
Aaaaaaw, so schade, dass Du die beiden Touris bei 2:45 nicht mit den Gladiatoren framen konntest.. Ich finde die Touri-Schlange vorm Pantheon am coolesten :-)
I really like your pictures; your camera (splendid, quite), your films (I'm always learning, and your photos (fast and most balanced, and always well focused to my taste; probably high in "f", around 1/60). I have sorts of Yashica cameras as FX-3, FX-D and 635 (6x6). They all fonction well. I saw your video about the Yashica Electro 35 (beautiful pictures, light meter well balanced). Though, since 2 years I bought a Lumix G85, I didn't get rid of my film cameras. Since late 70's I got the FX-3, I like the complete manual side of the camera. I noticed though that, it's true, the Yashica tends to over expose a little. My guess, I could not need to give 1 stop higher for the film Ektar color. Also, it's winter with snow in my country. Ektar seems to be great where there's sun and ''people wearing colors". It's great to follow you! Thanks for the tips!!
When I first started shooting film (just about one year ago now) o ordered 10 rolls of Kodak ultramax 400 off Amazon. When it arrived it was a 10 pack of Ektar 100. Love the film so much.
Great photos in Rome! I was in Rome last August and even if in that period Rome is empty this year was particular empty. By the way I shooted in Rome in BW with Leica and 28mm.
The women walking in front of the columns is fantastic. I have to say, my favorite from the video overall was the one of the woman with the hat taking her mask off with the columns in the background. Great video as always. Also, where do you get your music for your videos?
My favorites are 4:37 and 5:16. In terms of color i prefer Ektar over Portra. I thing and feel Portra is too "Pastel" and Ektar feels a little bit more intense and natural.
5:15 wow!! I don’t know why you say Ektar is not good for street photography. I’ve always had good luck with it, although I have to use the “Kodak Royal Gold” profile in Silverfast Ai, because the Ektar profile is awful. I also like 100 speed films for cameras with 1/1000 or 1/500 max shutter speed.
It's great for street but you need enough light. Otherwise, Ektar could become very limiting when you want to stop down and/or you want to maintain fast shutter speeds.
Love Ektar, and dig the shots. I still cannot believe that people haven't figured out what is going on... If you know what I'm talking about, it's very clear. If not...you will in time. Sad.
I know exactly what you mean. I think a lot of people feel that something is fishy but are too afraid to talk about it. However, it's crazy that so many seem to fall for this bs.
@@therealsirrobin I could tell early on that you and a few others were fully aware of what is going on. Like you I have been living my life, doing what I want to do. I've met a whole lot of people that are having similar thoughts, but are remaining silent. 'A nail that sticks up gets hammered down.' Something big is coming though, and I'm sure you can feel it, too. Also, 20/20 is 'perfect vision.' Nothing lasts forever.
Nice work. I was taken back at how empty Rome looks, but you made the best of it.
Congratulations, you are the winner of the prints. Can you shoot me a message over on Instagram or through my website? :)
Ektar is so beautiful. I’ve always loved its color and the rendering of shadows. This was a great video, y specially liked the photos of the girls and the monument, the masked line, and even if you didn’t print it. The old lady in the fountain.
The shot of the girls walking in the Vatican is one of my favourite shots I've ever seen
I certainly knew the pictures you would pick! Great photos sir Robin!
Always nice photos with Ektar 100, remembering so cool ones you tool on islands with your M6.
Really nice tones! Like the shots too! 👍🏻👍🏻
The one with the two ladies walking is amazing. Perfect light, composition and that Xpan format!
Nice vid mate. Ektar is one of my faves as well. Keep it up.
Another great video colours are fantastic love the picture of the 2 ladies walking across the Square real stand out shot always look forward to your next video great escapesen in these crazy times
I agree with you, the photo with the 2 girls is the best.
Wow, great timing on those photos Robin.
Great color mate! I Love the photo of the soldier!! Those tones!!
beautiful light, beautiful colors!
Love all these shots. Really nice pictures 👍
My favourite is the one where you captured the large building and the lady in blue dress!
There is a great thing with your photos where you see the faces of the people, it makes such a huge difference compared to hiding behind a mask!

Keep up the great work!
I love that Xpan aspect ratio so much... always a joy to watch your street photos with it! 😍
I don't know how you get so close to the subjects without them reacting...always blows my mind.
Great photos as always
Nice work! That late light was fantastic, and gotta love Ektar 👌🏼
Thanks mate! I know that Ektar is your favorite color negative film and I can totally see why. :)
I really like the Ektar 100 and its colors! Unfortunately I shoot it very seldom, I guess I should use this stock more often... Especially during the summertime it really shines! I like your Rom photos a lot, great video, as always!
love the colors and tones on those shots!
I think I just fell in love. 😍 The Ektar colors are simply beautiful.
The picture with two girls walk in the square is visually stunning and really shows how the X-pan is a master piece.
Great video, thank you for sharing. Will try Ektar next summer for sure
This episode reminds me of your Amesterdam episode, which turely touched me, and then I started my street photography! What a good time back there, man can just shoot shoot shoot :D Today is a little bit harder. But glad that you always carry on, sir! Keep it up!!!
Wow, that would be crazy shooting that wide format. I also love Ektar so much :)
Adoro assolutamente la foto con le due ragazze che camminano con il monumento preso perfettamente grazie alla PEN. Complimenti, spero di poterle vincere io le tue stampe :D un saluto dall'Italia!!!!
Really good shots as always Robin.
I like your critique of the photos at the end.

The X-pan was absolutely the perfect camera for Rome! the photo of the women in the Square was my fave as well.
2:55 and 5:15 my personal favorites, but overall, great images. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite is the last one of the three men. I really like that while the man taking the photo is the main focus having the other two people in frame helps to balance the image
Absolutely love that Vatican shot! Inspiring me to give Ektar a go.
The one @ 7:30 is my favorite.; great colors and a good sense of depth.
it s my fav film stock! low grain, high resoluton, nice rendition of colors (skin is ok when not in direct light)....the best
Just got a 10 pack of Ektar in. :D
@@therealsirrobin excellent!!! In the mean time, ill share those for boxes of E100 that jost got in ;)
Keep those vids comming :)

4:36 is my favorite too!
Recently I discovered an Ektar 100 film recipe for my Fujifilm X-E3. Really love it so far!

Exactly, you can't have it all. :)
Oh yes! I love Ektar! I tell myself to shoot Portra instead but inevitably.... I should more Ektar. :)
Great photos
😍Just loaded Ektar into my 645 last night too 😃
Jaaa.Vatikanstadt ist #1 👌🏻
Had mixed results with Ektar at box speed but need to give overexposing a try apparently!
thanks for the inspiration, next stock I have to try. :)
Wow. I'm a huge fan of Roman history. The photo of a "Roman soldier+ juxtaposed with a modern woman blew my mind. Thank you.
we end up having the same favorite this time. I will be over espousing my ektar from now on;.
I love the one with the two girls (8:16)! The colours, the composition, great!
Love the redheads 3:18
Always love how you compose every picture! would love to win one of your prints!
I will definitely have to try Ektar again my roll came out over saturated and to contrasty, Your images look fantastic specially the colors!

and is the 100 ISO not limiting in shutter speed especially with overexposing it by one stop too?
Thank you Borys. There was plenty of light but it can become an issue if the sun is hidden behind some clouds. A lot of the shots were taken at f/4.

Need to try Ektar out

Next time it will be busier, hopefully. :D
The one with the horses is very nice. I like the framing.
First time i am watching in the first 24h wohoo loved the colours! I have some ektar lying around as well its just to dark in Germany atm 😆
I've been dying to try ektar and this photos just made me want to buy a whole lot of rolls.
Love your work but I miss your Q-videos being a Q2-user myself
"Two girls in the square (04:37)" is my favourite shot
Same. It is just about perfect and it would have been hard to take unless St. Peter's Square was so lightly populated due to the pandemic.
Even though the image at 1:39 is pretty blurry, I like the contrast between the girl's face and the guy's face.
One of my favourites today.
Incredible set! Would love a print!
I love this channel looking to win these prints
Great pictures, as always! How do you decide when to develop the film at home or send it to a lab?
Depends on how much time I have. These days I mostly send film off to a lab.
The women walking in front of the columns is fantastic. I have to say, my favorite from the video overall was the one of the woman with the hat taking her mask off with the columns in the background. Great video as always. Also, where do you get your music for your videos?
The music is from epidemic sound.
The girl in blue, definetly!
Beautiful prints! Are they inkjet or traditional darkroom?
Not sure what kind of printer but no darkroom prints.
@@therealsirrobin Oh ok, they're stunning!
My favorites are 4:37 and 5:16. In terms of color i prefer Ektar over Portra. I thing and feel Portra is too "Pastel" and Ektar feels a little bit more intense and natural.
2:34 - this has got to be my favorite today, by far.
Wo lässt du die Abzüge machen? Machst du die von dem scans oder vom Negativ?
Nein, die sind von den Scans. Dark Room prints davon werde ich hoffentlich auch bald mal machen.
The couple standing in line with the masks is a perfect representation of 2020.
Thanks. Nice especially the one with the ladies in the vatican sq. but I am sure you dont send any picture to anyone by now
👍👍 nice
Great pics, I think you managed to get Portra colours out of Ektar!
The photo of the woman in the blue dress!
Dont be so strict with the framing :) Awesome Pictures like always

And privacy...that unknown.
" 2 Girls"
me me me me me :)
i feel like people are looking directly at your camera in nearly ever photograph. kind of ruins the naturalism of the shot. be more discreet.
I don't think Ektar looks good overexposed. After all it's a sort of negative-positive film.
