    Interesting two-day shoot. It seems Malta is full of old people. That mannequin shot is very nice. You can even see the upcoming storm reflection on the glass.

    While it is not for me at this current stage of shooting, i love when great street artists wave their X-pan wand. The last 2 prints are examples of the beauty and majesty of nailing a moment, while evoking a sense of nostalgia that does not fully exist. Meaning, though i have never been to Malta, the photo transports me to a time in my past where i have had a similar feeling, and the memories it brings out.
    Really enjoyed this video.

    Having lived in Malta for a couple of years, your photos brought back not only the memories of the old city of Valetta but also this islander's life typical to the Maltese. You can often find a chair in the street, next to a doorway and comes to the end of the working day, friends, families go out and take to the streets for aperitif and chatters. It is usually a very lively island. So I say a good job on capturing the atmosphere of the island nation of Malta, of course, Xpan allows you to bring more info to the viewer ;) Malta is a very colourful place though, might be worth it to go back during the summer festivals with some Ektar or Portra :)

    Did you ever try to shoot XPan vertically? Curious about the rendering...
    I love that format so much. As I shoot digital, I acquired a Panasonic S1R at the end of last year and one of my projects this year is to shoot XPan ratio with it (can be made directly in-camera... a joy)! Always loved XPan, and your videos inspired me and made me want to shoot this format more (sadly the original XPan cameras are bloody expensive and not an option nowadays). Finally will be able to do so digitally and more comfortably (than cropping in post only with my X-Pro 3) soon. 😉

    I've recently discovered your channel and I feel so inspired to go back on the streets and photograph, but my mind tells me to stay inside, so unfortunately it's been a while since I've made new images. On the flipside, you've inspired me to buy a good printer and finally start printing pictures myself! I don't have the space for a darkroom, but I should be able to get nice results with scanner and inkjet printer I hope. Printing will keep me busy for a while!

  • @mrca2004
    @mrca2004 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you meter at 200 but develop at 400? Or did you meter and develop at 400? Rather than bake in the blacks this deep, would like them a bit more open then have the option to be able to pull them down slightly in post to taste. I love the look here, plenty of inkiness in the shadows but still lots of fine grain detail in midtones and highlights. A gorgeous film. Have 4 rolls of 35 and 120 in the freezer and you inspired me to try pushing it.

    Very cool video, my family immigrated to the States from Malta & I have a lot of relatives there. I just ordered a couple of your zines & I’m glad I saw the reviews on shipping. I went ahead & paid for the tracked shipping, it’s worth it for the peace of mind. Can’t believe someone would give 1 star review because they didn’t pay attention to the shipping options. Typical American I guess, but we’re not all like that lol.

Spotted another composition that might work is shooting the shoes of the four guys in the bench in 9:44 🤔 might be interesting. Great shot and awesome video never the less, great job !
