The Spaarti Clone theory is my favorite and has been a part of my headcanon for years. I assumed that the Troopers Fordo led on Coruscant against the Droid Invasion were in fact the first few batches of Spaarti Clone Troopers that he trained personally. Being out in the Outer Rim Sieges for at most 9 months Kenobi and Skywalker's Forces were never reinforced with Spaartis (Or V-Wing Interceptors) until they returned to Coruscant. The majority of Clone casualties on Utapau for example were Spaartis. The Empire used Spaartis and Kaminoan Clones for a few months before Recruitment and Conscription of Stormtroopers became common practice eventually outnumbering both Spaarti and Kaminoan Clones by orders of magnitude. The Kaminoan Cloning program was halted however Spaarti Cloning would continue with different templates (High performing Imperial Military Personnel were Cloned). Kaminoan Clones were given the opportunity to retire however a large chunk chose to stay as Stormtroopers. The last Kaminoan Clone Batch was ready for battle in 10 BBY.
In my head the Spaarti clones are like the legends ones like ROTS and Battlefront 2 era when they just were ordered to turn on the Jedi and it wasn't explained by a chip later
I'm still waiting for them to declare that Exogol's other name is Byss. It should also be remembered that in the Lucasfilm approved expansions right after the Prequels that drones were created from cloning and that the wealthy in the Empire would pay to create batches of troops that were clones of themselves as a sign of vanity.
What if that’s just how CF99 sees them? The “regs” might all look the same to them, the same way identical twins are difficult to distinguish. What if the show is displaying how CF99 sees the other clones, as featureless and uniform even though in reality they aren’t?
That's actually a really cool thought, but I don't think that's what they intended. I feel if they were actually trying to portray their views, there would be more of a focus on it. I doubt they would use the same model for every clone, and then not give an explanation unless they all really looked like that.
What about echo? He said himself he was a reg before he joined cf99. He wouldn’t think himself better than others even if he had the ARC trooper status.
@@alxphx Idk, it could be a reference to the Republic Commando novels where the Commandos (and even in some ways ARC troopers and definitely Null ARCs) saw normal clones as inferior to a degree-- they were all brothers, but personality wise they saw most of the regs as blank slates, until the regs were exposed to culture and started thinking for themselves a bit more.
When I remember right, that psychosis problem with the "Express Clones" came only into play when you shorten the cloning process (which is possible but for that reason not recommended). When Thrawn used those clones he did shorten the cycle, which led to confusion in the New Republic because they couldn't understand why suddenly Thrawn had that many soldiers and why sometimes those would go on a rampage
I think it's a combination of the show's budget and storytelling. It's cheaper and saves time to use the same generic model multiple times. Also, since the closes are now villains, having them look generic prevents the viewer from getting attached to them and seeing them as people. The Bad Batch can massacre an entire battalion of generic clones and the viewers won't care. In The Clone Wars show, the clones had more individuality. The viewers grew attached to them and felt a sense of loss when one died, yet we didn't care about the countless generic B1's that got destroyed. In terms of canon, I'd like to think that these are new clones that haven't been assigned, and that their chips are suppressing their desire for individuality under the empire. I like to think that the use of Spaarti clones explains why the ones in The Bad Batch seem incompetent and outright dumb in some cases. It was also said that the original Jango Fett DNA was degrading, which may lead to lower quality clones and explain why they seem to be less intelligent and bad shots.
Yep I think symbolically is just simply a demonstration of lack of individuality among clones but if some people want an in universe explanation as to how that happened we can just assume they’re shinies
@@whiteglint7694 it's not that the viewers won't care about them all being faceless bad guys, it's that the viewers won't care when they die. It's a common story telling technique. We typically don't know anything about the cannon fodder henchmen in movies and TV because the writers don't want the viewers to get attached to them. It makes the heroes seem more heroic when they kill faceless minions, and the villains more villainous when they kill known and well liked characters. Bad writing occurs when a character is introduced then gets killed with no character development occurring. The main characters feel a sense of loss and act like it's very important but the viewers don't care because they don't know this person. Think of Art Lean from Mortal Kombat. If you're familiar with the movie but don't know whom I'm talking about, then that illustrates my point.
Alternate reason, Kaminoans, being evil dolphin aliens, discouraged Clones stationed on Kamino from expressing their individuality. Or the Younger Troopers & the Home guard were repressed and adopted the cold arrogant stoicism of the Kaminoans. Clones after all are technically children and super impressionable. Humanity First!

one great thing about older clones like cody, wolfe rex, and most arc troopers and commanders as a whole, they was basically mandolorians, ironically, rex and all arc troopers even used twin blasters, from what i was reading lately,a design based off mandolorians blasters
This was likely a scene meant to establish how Order 66 not only made clones more aggressive but also took away their ability to have creative thinking, instead they now all act the same, and look the same. Taking away their individuality is a severe blow to take, since we had spent much time over Clone Wars getting attached and valuing the life of a clone. But now they are just battle droids.

Kamino cloners wanted a standard basic unit product. They had product to sell and a reputation to maintain for future increased profit margins. These clones of which you speak were nubes still in and/or just graduating from their basic training cycles. Only while in the field under Jedi leadership were troopers allowed to express their growing individuality; as most fair minded Jedi encouraged this evolution of their humanity.
What I love about this channel is it will take something like this that was most likely a choice from the animators so they wouldn’t have to design and animate a bunch of unique designs for a few brief scenes and give a in canon reason for it
There is a lore reason for this. It's because the kaminoans were obsessed with organization. And most of the kamino guard were all standardized like that same haircut such and such
When I saw it I automatically thought they were all shinies who hadn't been exposed to the jedi yet just small interactions with shaak ti so that's why I thought there was nothing different about them but they still could have put in some shaved heads in that scene
Like boot camp....and it's the Empire now. Even in Clone Wars last season most of the individuality was disappearing. Kixx tattoos are covered, all the armor is white. Even Rex has dark hair. They are being assimilated.
It’s probably because of order 66 and the inhibitor chips. If you look at crosshair, he had his own uniqueness and personality. His uniqueness and personality were erased when Tarkin made his inhibitor chip work stronger. This is what most likely happened to all the other clones. Quick summary: When the inhibitor chips were activated, all of the clones personality and uniqueness were removed and they became like droids.
@@magiv4205 I think he has a point, crosshair was deliberately asked why he was so focused on following orders when the squad was never interested in following orders. If they did that to the rebellious crosshair, why wouldn’t other clones be changed.
@@meloneatingwolf1882 Of course the chip immediately affected their personalities, but my point is that things like haircuts, color and tattoos DON'T JUST DISAPPEAR OVERNIGHT
@@magiv4205 The Empire removed all the tattoos and coloring on the armor pieces except for some rankings. If you see the episode ‘aftermath’ you will notice that all the clones after order 66 were the same. No haircuts, not tattoos, and no coloring. Just plain. The Emperor made the clones plain and since the clones personality was taken over by the inhibitor chip, the clones only cared about following orders and not looks. That’s why they look the same. The tattoos could’ve been removed with some advanced machine, I mean it’s Star Wars
I think this was a literary element to show the audience that the “regs” are individually indistinguishable to the bad batch. This was also after their inhibitor chips were activated, so maybe the regular clones’ desire for individuality was negated upon activation.
Just watched this after seeing episode 11 of “Bad Batch”. Clone Captain Howzer still has his unique hairstyle and armor markings, but I don’t think it’s ever commented on by Admiral Rampart. So the identical clones on Kamino being fresh reinforcements or having been created/trained differently seems more likely
I think these clones were meant to be one of the last fully trained batches or units of clones before Order 66 even happened and they just didn't knew what's really going on.
Perhaps as clone arrived back, Clones had paint on their armor, and tatoos removed, and then were given haircuts, or accelerated their hair back to the original hair cut.
I mean all of this is like 12 hours after Order 66, there was never any clone detachment stationed on Kamino other than the Kamino guard which we *see* in the same episode to have their paint. These guys have to all be shinies just like we see in ATOTC and TCW multiple times.
I think this was done before the New Order actually. In TCW season 7, we can actually see the 501st troopers are way less individual. With the exception of Rex and Jesse, the "regs" mostly looked all alike. Even Kix, who had a bald head with tattoos in earlier seasons was now shown with standard haircut. So I believe as Palpatine and the Military took more and more control from the Jedi, they made new regulations about customizing armor or looks of regs. That would explain it and make sense.
The Kamino Guard are still in Kamino and are still recognized as a security force. The clone shock troopers are in Kamino because Tarkin and a jedi was present. It's also Kamino and Palpatine would want to keep it secure, due to most of their operations are there (Such as project war mantle). They are also probably there to ensure a smooth transition from the Republic to the Empire and to supervise the other units. Like Generation tech said, Palpatine had a major influence on the shock troopers. The Kamino scientists probably have a similar influence on the Kamino guard and the regs there, so it could lead to an uprising of some sorts. They could somehow deactivate the chips or something. For short, the shock troopers are probably there to supervise Kamino.
My theory: They are nothing more than background characters. Generic soldiers for the Bad Batch to shoot up. The only reason some clones in The Clone Wars were unique was that they were key characters or were meant to stick out from the rest. Rex, Fives, Cody, etc. were all within the key characters group. It was also easier for Dee Bradly Baker to distinguish their personality. Alternatively, the Bad Batch calls other clones "regs" implying that they are meant to be the same. Honestly, I really do think it is as simple as these clones are background characters.
As a triplet, I'm going with budget issues and maybe the chips screwing with things. Also, fresh clones. However personality starts EARLY. There may be a dependancy on one another but each SHOULD be unique. Speaking from experience here...
"After the Kamino uprising, the Emperor decided that an army of genetically identical soldiers was too susceptible to corruption. Future troopers would be cloned from a variety of templates. Though the 501st itself remained pure, the rest of the Imperial Army gradually became more and more diverse. We never really got used to the new guys."
Maybe all the main clones we loved in CW such as Cody, Nova, Fox, etc. Will appear in Season 2 of The Bad Batch. Just like how in The Mandalorian season 2. We got characters like Ahsoka, Bo Katan, Boba Fett & Luke.
This ^^. The one issue I have with the Spaarti theory is why the hell they're on Kamino... unless Palps has secretly shifted them to Kamino in preparation to subdue the Kaminoans should they bring out a spare battalion or two they've been keeping in reserve (and the extra clone force has already been alluded to, so it could easily be this).

I think it’s a mix between the show expressing what the clones have become snd replacements because after all the last batch of clones was being made. In S7 in the 332nd we also see all white clone troopers as well
I was thinking, just for color, it would be fun to not totally discontinuing all separatists robot soldiers. Assorted robots, and other druids could be a way to keep variety on the screen. After ww2 the allies adopted much from the axis powers .
This actually could be done to search for remaining Jedi, as droids have minimal to no force presence, and aren't as directly sentient/individual since they aren't organic beings, and as such are harder for jedi to detect.
Two reasons probably to show the change of how the republic treated them to how the empire treated the clones and they had so much visuals already they probably had to save on budget and simply giving unique designs for let’s say at the least 70 clones was a sacrifice the crew made to give us the best story
Fun fact: In EU, Clones were not allowed to be different and unique because they thought it’d make them less intimidating. No tattoos, no different armor. They also were not allowed to paint there armor. The only troopers allowed to have paint were the 501st due to them being Vader’s personal legion. (Of course I’m sure there’s more Clone Legions). Also, on the clone shock trooper then. They were supposed to have different armor because they are normally mainly on Coruscant. Because of them being already widely feared. So they had no problem with leaving the armor on. Not gonna lie, I love Shock-Troopers, my favorite one is Fox. Ok bye now Allen.
Originally, I thought it was just that Order 66 forcibly erased all of their individualities so that the clones will be able to cut all of their connections with the Jedi. But now with more theories offered here, I may need to reevaluate everything I that I thought of this previously.
I think they were new fresh off the assembly line clones untrained by the Jedi and/or Mandalorians so that they can be molded however the Empire wants to. So they are stale troopers who have only fought battles in simulators and are obedient to a T, just as Palpatine and Tarkin want them.
I think they just changed regulations. Immediately after 66. Especially since Tarkin was coming and the kaminoans knew the politics coming with the new empire. They knew what tarkin was looking for. Stormtroopers aren’t individualistic at all and I think kaminoans wanted to show that clones are more obedient by taking away their individuality. The chip might’ve had something to do with it too.
Its some non-canon theory that I always see lots of people talk about. There was some theory rolling around that the chips removed all their personalities but we can see in this very episode and Siege of Mandalore that this isnt true so idk
Not only to kill the jedi. But permenantly make them think that it was the right choice and make the doubt go away, and maybe this big shift in their head made their personality change? Make them think the wrong is right? And act "evil"?? I personally can't think some clones could be bad. Including Slick and Fox of course
The inhibitor chips have a very easy and simple explanation, they are _inhibitor_ chips. The clones are just that, clones. Clones are little better than droids without someone teaching them how to be a sentient. The Kaminoans probably just removed individualism from the cloning process or curriculum.
I think the directors or who ever also missed a important detail, like the first episode the clone commander of Kanan's unit didn't have the commander look just a ring around his neck and that's it. I think they just wanted the season out and to just focus on the Bad Batch.
This is just almost a day or so after order 66. My theory is that those troopers we see are just shines. I don’t think that almost every trooper in the entire army has their armor painted white that quickly.
When you mentioned the short time it takes to produce a battle droid as opposed to a clone, I got an idea. It could have been cool if Clone Wars or another series did a droid construction montage similar to the bullet montage at the beginning of Lord of War.
I am really glad that they kept the art style. Sometimes companies try to fix something that isn’t broken. Within the first minute of watching the bad batch I was already back home, watching season 1 of clone wars on TV in the evening. Good old times.
They're all identical because the series is from the perspective of the bad batch. The bad batch looks around and feels strongly that they are the only ones who stand out as different.
My fan fiction is starwars crossed with the Orville universe waiting for season 3 with the Orville encounters an spaces whales with thrawn and Ezra with imperial fleet!
Theres also a big battle on Kamino, where the kaminoins, or however you spell it, knew the Empire didn't want clones anymore. So they started to make their own army of clones using different methods or different DNA to fight back against the empire. This part of the timeline might be a little too early but its also a nice idea that we should be seeing ALOT more different clones here in the near future of the Bad Batch series and possible Omega might be the first test subject.

Considering how Spaarti cylinders work, they could have used Fordo as the template for the flash learning as well.
Exegol is in the unknown regions, while Byss is in the deep core.
@@brownco8 Both are very difficult to reach via Hyperspace.
Rex looks different from the "regs" when they meet him later on so this theory doesn't work. Interesting idea though.
Thrawn severed those clones from the force if I remember correctly
Yeah that was one of the reasons he needed the ysalimiri
I hate when they do that. "Ahh make them all the same faceless evil guys. The viewers won't care obviously." What lazy writing.
Alternate reason, Kaminoans, being evil dolphin aliens, discouraged Clones stationed on Kamino from expressing their individuality. one great thing about older clones like cody, wolfe rex, and most arc troopers and commanders as a whole, they was basically mandolorians, ironically, rex and all arc troopers even used twin blasters, from what i was reading lately,a design based off mandolorians blasters
Let's not forget that Star Wars makes Temuera Morrison the actor with the most movie and tv show credits in history
@Sebastian Stefanski no Temuera would make more sense as he is the templet for how they look in any form of media
I like how Omega use the term "Bad Batcher" 😎😁💪
Good question, even if Order 66 changed them they might have changed their looks or the Empire changed the guard rotation.
Star Wars fans: gives complicated lore reason as to why all clones are identical in Bad Batch
Disney who just wanted to cut costs: Right... we thought of that all along
In episode 8 of season 2 In The Bad Batch you see in a clone bar on the coruscant where all the clones look different like hair tattoos

And most of the kamino guard were all standardized like that same haircut such and such
Coruscant Guard, Kamino Troopers and Grey: Are we a joke to you?
When I saw it I automatically thought they were all shinies who hadn't been exposed to the jedi yet just small interactions with shaak ti so that's why I thought there was nothing different about them but they still could have put in some shaved heads in that scene
Dude they’re just not a combat units. Remember the term “shinies”?
Like boot camp....and it's the Empire now. Even in Clone Wars last season most of the individuality was disappearing. Kixx tattoos are covered, all the armor is white. Even Rex has dark hair. They are being assimilated.
The clones on Kamino are all new, they just haven't customized their armor yet.
Well yeah, but they wouldn't have immediately lost any paint, haircut or tattoos they had.
@@magiv4205 sci-fi tatoo remover
@@magiv4205 The Empire removed all the tattoos and coloring on the armor pieces except for some rankings. If you see the episode ‘aftermath’ you will notice that all the clones after order 66 were the same. No haircuts, not tattoos, and no coloring. Just plain. The Emperor made the clones plain and since the clones personality was taken over by the inhibitor chip, the clones only cared about following orders and not looks. That’s why they look the same. The tattoos could’ve been removed with some advanced machine, I mean it’s Star Wars
This dude has a PHD in star wars lore. RESPECT
I think this was a literary element to show the audience that the “regs” are individually indistinguishable to the bad batch. This was also after their inhibitor chips were activated, so maybe the regular clones’ desire for individuality was negated upon activation.
The main reason i think was that the creators wanted to show how different the bad batch are from the regular clones
I think these clones were meant to be one of the last fully trained batches or units of clones before Order 66 even happened and they just didn't knew what's really going on.
i wonder if the republic ever made drop pods like halo odsts itd be sick to see a squad oc clone commandos dropping form teh aky into battle

@Generation Tech I don't know about you, but I'm a millenial and "tired and confused" sums me up pretty well.
3:58 a group of kaminoan guards are there with the shock troopers
Perhaps as clone arrived back, Clones had paint on their armor, and tatoos removed, and then were given haircuts, or accelerated their hair back to the original hair cut.
That's too much Buddy
Another thing was that in the first episode, Grey was the only clone who had colored armor
I think you've hit the Ewok right on the head with your theory. Great video!
Could you do a video about Boba Fett and Cad Bane’s duel
The higher ups also could have just outlawed individuality and made rules saying they had to look like/meet a certain standard
The clones look the same? *gasp*
I know lord Vader who would of guessed
As a triplet, I'm going with budget issues and maybe the chips screwing with things. Also, fresh clones. However personality starts EARLY. There may be a dependancy on one another but each SHOULD be unique. Speaking from experience here...
Reporting for duty sir
I think that’s the point that’s why the name clone comes in
Long answer:
Short answer: who wants to animate all that
"After the Kamino uprising, the Emperor decided that an army of genetically identical soldiers was too susceptible to corruption. Future troopers would be cloned from a variety of templates. Though the 501st itself remained pure, the rest of the Imperial Army gradually became more and more diverse. We never really got used to the new guys."
I think its because they live on Kamino, and kaminonians dont allow that
They’re probably the youngest clones who haven’t even left kamino and probably haven’t gotten a chance to express themselves yet
Great video, but I do have one question.
If they are Sparti clones, why would they be on Kamino?
Maybe all the main clones we loved in CW such as Cody, Nova, Fox, etc. Will appear in Season 2 of The Bad Batch. Just like how in The Mandalorian season 2. We got characters like Ahsoka, Bo Katan, Boba Fett & Luke.
Imagine he made a whole video and in the end it was just a budget issue 😂😂😂😂😂
As a huge fan of the Thrawn trilogy, I'd be very happy to see Spaarti clones return to canon. But it doesn't make sense for them to be on Kamino.

1:47 cough cough Screen Crush that can’t get their facts right cough cough
“We never got used to the new guys.”
Still don't understand why the clones turned "evil"ish after order 66 when all that order did was make them want to kill jedi.
Its some non-canon theory that I always see lots of people talk about. There was some theory rolling around that the chips removed all their personalities but we can see in this very episode and Siege of Mandalore that this isnt true so idk
@@spencerrr9878 People act trike the clones were possessed or became droids or something. But I see the chips as a drug
I think it also largely has symbolic use. They're the regs, we see them less so how they are, but more as the Bad Batch sees them.
501st! vs a legion of armed assult dolphins Allen who ya got?!
I think the directors or who ever also missed a important detail, like the first episode the clone commander of Kanan's unit didn't have the commander look just a ring around his neck and that's it. I think they just wanted the season out and to just focus on the Bad Batch.
They’re definitely just newer clones that just finished training (at least that’s my head canon) cool theory tho
I still love them:(
Anothrer thing might be them being on Kamino where they might watch them more than in war
This is just almost a day or so after order 66. My theory is that those troopers we see are just shines. I don’t think that almost every trooper in the entire army has their armor painted white that quickly.
Spaarti clones would be neat

When you mentioned the short time it takes to produce a battle droid as opposed to a clone, I got an idea. It could have been cool if Clone Wars or another series did a droid construction montage similar to the bullet montage at the beginning of Lord of War.
“Why are all the clones identical?” Is like asking “why is this library full of books?”
I am really glad that they kept the art style. Sometimes companies try to fix something that isn’t broken. Within the first minute of watching the bad batch I was already back home, watching season 1 of clone wars on TV in the evening. Good old times.
Cause they're clones xd
your right about the shock troopers tho, why i think the assassin we just met might been a shock trooper
They're all identical because the series is from the perspective of the bad batch. The bad batch looks around and feels strongly that they are the only ones who stand out as different.
I’m gonna guess that the clones we saw on Kamino were shinies just like you said!
