it goes on sale eventually so it will be $350 eventually and yea, that's a budget device compared to something like the iPhone 15 that is $800. U can also get a Samsung for 300 or less but it would just be a worse phone for your money if u don't mind.
@@newfnshow031true but why should we wait for a sale. Google could, not provide that slow wireless charging, give a regular 60Hz or 90Hz display and give the phone for under $400. If people want all of those over the top features then they could get the regular Pixel.
It's the budget version Pixel but it's definitely not a budget phone. The Nothing Phone 2(a) is much more budget along with Samsung phones like the A35. Motorola also has a tone of phones under $300 that better fit that category.
The Pixel 6a has been my daily driver for the last 6 months and it has been a very positive experience. Im sure the 8a is a better phone but I don’t feel the need to upgrade any time soon.
I bought it last week mainly because of the £150 refund + trade in allowance they're offering for my old 4a. I was surprised how similar it is to the 4a though, superficially anyway. Performance is snappy enough for me and the 120hz refresh is nice. The 7 years of updates is another draw although how realistic is it that a 2024 phone will actually run Android v.2031 remains to be seen. I started thinking about upgrading my phone back at Pixel 6a, nearly pulled the trigger at 7a, happy I actually did it now with this phone.
Companies are still releasing phones with mid range chips from 4 years ago this is easy an upper mid range if not light flagship so this should last 7 years as a lot of features will be left out in updates anyway. Battery ageing will be more of a concern before the CPU is.
Great test. However, you can't call the device a budget phone. The price is too high for that. Of course it will fall in a few months, but as of now it is too high. Discount campaigns should not count here either. Otherwise, you can always talk about a discount when you sell your old device and buy a new one with the money. As far as the long update guarantee goes, it will become clear what compromises you will have to make at some point. In other words, which new features will actually be available on the old devices, or whether you will just have to buy a new device after 2-3 years.
Pixel device are not for India. Expensive than other other countries, heats a lot, reception issues and too much battery drain. Poco X6 Pro, Oneplus 12R, and upcoming Poco F6 beats pixel in all major aspects. Yeah pixel has a better camera and software but the above issues ruins the experience.
Wat about the the charging issue, takes hours to charge , unless you turn it complety off , then takes shorter nut over a hour still like the 7a charging issue, my 7a doesn’t heat up at all
I'd go with the Oneplus 12R. Yeah the Pixel has better cameras and A1 technology. That's it though. Everything else is subpar for the price. Should have been $399 tops.
Best mid range phone camera and best form factor(not too tall and not hard to hold at 6.1 inch) but if its Snapdragon, then its the best. The price will drop every now and then,so get it when the price drops
Hi, I absolutely love love love love love love love my Google pixel 8A thank you so much for your review! So many TH-camrs complain about the stupidest things like the bezels are too thick or it's not fast enough cuz it doesn't have as much RAM as the Google pixel 8 but I think it runs so smooth with 120 hurts and I just love it there's no hiccups or anything and when I look at these reviews that they say the Google pixel 8 pro or the Google pixel 8 is so much better than the Google pixel 8a it makes me laugh😂
Hooray finally a Latina on android authority keep up the great work I'm a s24 ultra user Google phones are cool but not for me unless Google sends me one take care adios😅😅😅
Benchmarks aren't useful for real world usage but they are the best way to compare phones against each other. They are as close to a controlled experiment as you can get for comparing performance between different phones.
only on paper... OnePlus has terrible customer service so if something goes wrong in those 2 or 3 years your money is basically wasted. Google has much better support.
@@newfnshow031 I've had 3 OnePlus phones all were much higher quality than Pixel which was a new issue with every update. Google customer service is also notoriously awful
@@mousefatfat pixel 6 has "7 years" with Pixel UI. Not stock android. Pixel UI is stock with a Google skin and a ton of bugs. Google has also shown that 7 years is pretty meaningless.
Stop calling it budget. It's 500 bucks. should have been 399. Tensor is pure garbage with Cell and wifi signal. Google has the most pathetic excuse for customer service I have ever seen. Will never buy another one after my shit experience with my pixel fold.
I gave my p6 to my wife and p7 to my daughter I use the p8 and my cell service and WiFi has always been great. Different strokes for different folks i guess
Where can you get an iPhone for that price? Literally, only maybe in America. Everywhere else in the world, it is significantly more expensive. My personal observation is that it is not worth nearly the amount of money it is sold for. It's too closed and, in some ways, outdated in terms of technology.
If we're talking about a true budget phone? Poco x6 Pro for around 300€. 1.3 million in Antutu, 3k in 3D Mark Wildlife extreme and 1.4k/4.8k in Geekbench Single and Multicore, respectively. The 8a costs considerably more and doesn't even come close.
@@Job3kk The title of this video is captioned "The most powerful budget Android phone". That *is* the most powerful budget option. It's not for everyone, of course, but if you're actually looking for performance, that's the pick. People seem to forget these numbers actually represent something. The Pixel has it's own share of issues. Overheating, inconsistencies, a lack of fast charging, ugly bezels... And is considerably more expensive.
It depends on market... For example in India this isn't value for money phone. even in US you can get pixel 8 'flagship' experience for 50 dollars more, no?
It happened before with pixel 4 and 5 series but it was still not good. If they put snapdragons in 6,7,8 series,it will be the best but it will be more costly
