Bought the pixel A for 210 euro, was on a discount with a provider in the country I'm currently in. Can cancel the subscription on delivery. Which is a great price.
@@newfnshow031See I say I’m gonna stop getting new phones and end up upgrading before the years even up 💀 it is a waste of money but with all the various bills and subscriptions we pay for in this day and age a phone lease really doesn’t break the bank more than anything else. Drive less one week idk, life altogether in modern society is a waste of money so it’s a matter of personal choices.
let's be honest - a phone is good but you need all day battery. I used a compact phone the s23 then a Xiaomi 12 until I got mad about the battery life and then I got myself an s24 U. Very happy with it. And not only about the battery, but it got to the point where I was keeping my phone very close to my eyes just to see something.
is it just me, I didn't notice anything that calls for a 40% increase in price for the 8, apart from charging speed and outer material. What am I missing?
it used to be that the strenght of the A series was "having the same camera as the flagship but with a little bit less processing power" which meant that the A series was the best camera phone to buy if you were not interested in having more fancy features. It also used to be the phone for people that wanted a phone that actually fits in the hands. Now we have a phone with worse cameras, same dimentions, and almost the same price.....not to mention the fact that most custom Gcam mods tailor the main sensor of the main pixel to make pictures less fake, less oversharpened, less noisy, etc... so if the A series does not have the same camera array then it just cannot benefit from the same development effort that the commuity does for the main phones. I jenuinely think that we need a real "A phone" with a significantly smaller screen and pocketable form factor (5.5" for example) and the same camera array of the flagship. Then we need an "A pro" that has the same camera array of the "pro" but with the pocketable screen size of 5.5". On a similar topic, the camera bump is idiotic. Just put a bigger battery and make the back flat, the pixel phones nowadays last less than an iPhone which is embarassing. Finally modularity has to be brought back: it should be illegal to have soldered ports and difficul to replace components.
Also, placing the new 8A too close to the soon-to-be-replaced 8 creates a temptation that also hurts Pixel sales; if the customer is seeing only a $100 difference for a better phone at RRP, then that naturally leads to them wondering if they can get an 8 Pro at the same price via the secondhand market (and of course they can, and for even less in fact). I've always bought my phones secondhand anyway and run them until failure because I'd feel bad about shopping for these things any other way, but I assume Google would rather that people like me bought new. We're not seeing any pressure to do that.
I don’t know why anyone would consider buying the Pixel 8a instead of the Pixel 8. The Pixel 8a was supposed to be a compact budget phone, but shockingly, the Pixel 8 is shorter than the Pixel 8a and weighs 1 gram less. The Pixel 8 is also IP68 dust/water resistant, compared to the IP67 rating of the Pixel 8a. I know there’s a price difference, but you can still find a better deal with a preowned or used Pixel 8. Their battery life is similar, and the display and speakers are better on the Pixel 8. And let’s not forget the 18W charging speed on the Pixel 8a. Like, seriously? I know the Pixel 8a is supposed to be a midrange phone, and you can’t expect higher specs, but the Pixel 8 being more compact than it doesn’t make sense. If you ask me, the Pixel 8 is the answer.
The use of Exynos (Tensor) chipsets is why i bought a Samsung Galaxy S23+ (Snapdragon chipset) last year despite being tempted to switch to a Google phone.
Does 8a have Magic Editor. That is off fhe charts amazing. I just started using my 8 today and wow, im very impressed. $499 during Amazon Prime day. Yahoo!
Yea. Him saying pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 A back n forth was confusing to follow when they kept showing both handsets on screen. Like they were trying to lose us. So the 8 is better now but once the 8a goes down to $350, it's better. Even more so if you get the 256 version of the A for cheap. Sick of the super slow charging and weak batt of goog on Q series phones.
Once the 8a goes on sale, it’ll hands down be the better value. I much prefer the plastic matte back, flat camera bar and more vibrant colors on the 8a over the 8. Even now though, I’m not sure the 8 is worth $200 more than the 8a with most all of the same setup and features.
As usual, the market has corrected prices, with Google now offering $100 store credit along with a generous trade in value for customers who wish to avoid the hassle of Ebay. So for me the net net price of the 8a was just $220 plus taxes. Since I am a Mint customer, the unlocked price is the same as a locked phone (for those who like to pay more to one of the Big 3) vs the competition, which often charges more for unlocked versions. Put another way, my monthly cost is $21.11 (including Mint service charges) assuming the phone cost is amortized over 3 years which is typical of the usual phone company contract.
Man, I really want to enjoy a good Pixel but got an atrocious unit for Google Pixel 7 Pro. Screen bleed from a fall that is not even a foot deep TWICE! I only got it for less than 2 years.
I just ordered the 8a because I hate the height of the camera/sensor bump on the Pixel 8. I just think I’d rather have a thicker phone than giant bumps. 😂
YOU GUYS WANT THE REAL? I HAD BOTH PHONES AT THE SAME TIME LIKE THIS GUY RIGHT HERE. BESIDES THE BEZELS ON THE 8A AND THE 8A CARRYING THE SAME CAMERA AS THE 7A THERES NO DIFFERENCE, 😅. ALTHOUGH THE PIXEL 8A FEELS BETTER TO HOLD SO I CHOSE THE 8A AND SEND THE 8 BACK, PLUS THE 8 VISOR BAR STICKS OUT WAY TOO FAR
I find it disappointing that they're unifying the designs across generations but they're still shifting things by a millimetre here and a millimetre there, which is wasteful in so many ways going right down to the 3rd-party case/protector markets.
For the same price these companies charge you to get 128 extra gigs, you can buy a 512 micro sd card. Stop justifying and feeding into companies giving you lesser products because it doesn't fit your specific personal use case - it doesn't change the reality. Not to mention micro sd cards are forever reusable, while the phone storage will eventually be irrelevant.
I've had a Pixel 2, 5, and now 7 Pro. The 7 is the worst phone ive had in some time. Its already been replaced by Google once for screen dimming issues, that this one has again. Plus other issues. I'm hoping the 9 is a banger.
