I understand the dynamic range is great with S-Log2. But the shadows can hardly be used because of the low bitrate. So you have to expose to the right and never use the recorded shadows wich costs some of the 256 steps. But not overexpose too much because of the lacking tonal precision of 8bit and often the bad sensor dynamic range. Which costs another part of the 256 steps. All in all there is less usable dynamic range and more noise than with a linear profile like Cine2, right?
Not exactly) I found slog2 to be the best in terms of color reproduction and usable dynamic range on 8-bit camera. Yes, it takes some skills and effort to film and process it correctly, but it works very good when you nail it

@@NOlimitsON i'm sorry to bother, it's just to have a comparison. let's assume you have to record something in a very lighty day do you suggest to change picture profile or adding some ND filters on the lens?
@@simoneventura9272 I always add an ND filter - ND64 is more than enough in most cases
sorry I'm not good at english, and your video doesn't have subtitles, I want to ask, is the iso set automatically? thank you
No, I set it manually always)
@@NOlimitsON doesn't manual exposure change when we move it to another object? how to lock ev+2 with invisible zebra 95 when capturing sky objects
@@afrizalijal1665 Yeah, manual is only good for controlled lighting. If you don't have that auto will take care of it.
Great video!!! Thanks!!!
Welcome, stay tuned))
Which picture profile do you use with your 8-bit cameras?
#LOG #Sony #SLOG2 #SLOGWORKFLOW #HOWTOSHOOTSLOG
Would you apply this to a Panasonic camera that shoots in flat of cine like-d?
@@phantomfrequency6621 absolutely yes) to any log footage
HLG2
HLG3. I find it frustrating that there is not as much HLG content haha.
Nice vid, братуха! Very helpful, keep it on
Thanks mate! Stay tuned!
Yes, it takes some skills and effort to film and process it correctly, but it works very good when you nail it
Very useful video. Clear information, thanks !

Great video! Thank you for making this easier to understand!
Thank you)) I’m glad! Stay tuned)))
Thank you for the video. It was very helpfull

Hiii!!! This video was amazing!! extremely clear and illustrative! helped me lots!!!
I really hope you respond 😩😂
I have the A7ii, Does these settings work the same even if i’m shooting at 1080p? Or how does it change?
I really need help hahahah
Hey! Thanks! Absolutely the same)
Does it make a difference if you record in 1080 or 4k?, (as well as slog 2) does the file size difference mean less color/exposure data to work with? the bigger file res the better or can you get away doing 1080 slog 2 and all that? thank you :)
I shoot in 4K 95% of the time and to my eye the grading of 4K footage looks better) but 1080 is also ok if you don’t need 4K
@@NOlimitsON oh wow amazing info yea this took a huge height off my shoulders thank you so so much !!! 🙌🙌
@@edwino9999 welcome, bro)
can sony alpha 6300 slog?
Yes

how to use luts on log with changing conditions
Changing the settings 😅
Very good video holy shit I have been struggling with this for 3 years and I didn't know why I was getting grain in my shadows
Thanks mate) enjoy and stay tuned)
i have the sony a6300 too =)
Absolutely great results in your video can you please explain when exposing using zebras vs ev if the zebra still shows and ev drops below +2 how do you expose in this instance..Also color phase should it be +2? Knee and gamma i guess its auto / default. In the ending did you shoot 60fps 1080? How did you maintain still good details or was it 4k 24p and slowed in post? Thanks ive subscribed
Hi) thanks! You have to prioritize zebras - E.V. Is just a point of reference. Color phase at +2 reduces the green, I’d prefer to keep leave the color phase at +2. Knee and gamma are default. The last shot is shot on the a7s3 in 4K 50p - just for the beauty of the image 😅
Thank you so much
thanks a lot for LUTs
Welcome, mate! Stay tuned!
Thank you for this video. I'm waiting for my a6500 to arrive, and this will help me work with the 8-bit footage. Subscribing.

Can you tell me if S-Log 3 on 8-bit camera is usable?
I talk about it in this video mate) watch attentively)
thanks for all the links in the bio, you really know your stuff. #Subscribed
Thanks bro) stay tuned)
I tried this the last two days, I never work with iso higher than 800, whit this flow I can work with iso 4000 and don't even realize the difference
That’s great mate)) everything is about correct exposure, not about height iso values)
0:45 - кадр снять с атомосом или в чистую?
Конкретно этот с атомоса, а по всему ролику очень много кадров напрямую с Флешки
OMG why don't you have a million views yet???????
Thanx! That's the way TH-cam works unfortunately... stay tuned!
THANKS YOU

yeah you really gotta nail the exposure though and takes a LOT more time in editing. lol
