I tried using as a main, because he has some good basics. Unfortunately, MvC has some broken characters, both in the terms of strength and weaknesses.

Well, Ruby Heart is the main character for the whole game and I don’t think anyone has picked her, ever.
Ryu is the Capcom mascot he on every cover. And it's a fighting game based off street fighter mechanics.

That would be cool considering his games take place within the street fighter universe, but in futuristic Metro City. Plus it would be hilarious having him fighting against Nash in his capt. Commando outfit.
I think he would be good in a one on one fighter but in mvc nah.
Pretty sure Nash has a CapCom costume, plus a lot of C. Viper's moves are inspired by him, but it would still be cool.

He may suck as a character but I used to LOVE his super where his team came and helped! It was just so cool seeing that too me!! I mean just look at that, a ninja, a swordsman, and a baby controlling a robot !? And then they do that cool pose at the end !? Just incredible. I used to always include him on my team just for the chance to use that super against my friends. And if you kill your opponent during that super then everything slows down and it looks theatrical.

It would've been hilarious if after JMCroft said "So naturally we're gonna go into some matches." And immediately it jump-cuts into Cap being the last character and we just watch JM put down the controller and stare at us.
Man, I have always loved Captain Commando. I played him like a madman when I was a kid and I've never looked back.

Hope to see some videos on non god-tier point characters like Blackheart, or Megaman, to continue explaining how enormous the gap is in Mahvel between god-tier and everyone else, and how characters need specific tools to be remotely viable against them (maybe the more gimmicky stuff like Tron and Doom and Juggernaut, but those are probably apparent enough that they don't need separate videos). Also hoping one day you cover Team Clockwork.

I mean he’s probably better than Ginyu in a vacuum, it’s just that all the other chars that are actually good in this game are insanely broken and make him look like ass in comparison
As you seen in the video he's actually ok character, he's just usually going up against top tier characters that are broken
What I most like in Captain Commando is that some of his moves and all specials summon the other 3 playable characters in his own game.
I agree. He is the only one that can call for more assists in the game. You can summon the munmy and summon 1 of your character to assists as a follow up.
I always do a sentinel rockets and baby missile combo with captain fire as zoning strategy 😅
Baby Head is objectively the best support, because it's a robot-driving infant named Baby Head.
In the video when he plays as Commando, he's not using his 3 personal assists, which means he's not using Captain Commando to his full potential. All 3 assists in combination are good for keep away, block damage, meter charging and all the while leaving Commando relatively safe.
He actually does have 2 hits before a launcher. Standing light punch, Standing light kick to Standing heavy kick which is his other launcher. But they both have to land before u launch with heavy kick.
You have some inaccuracies in this vid. He has a 2 frame jab, can 2-hit confirm lp->mp->launch (and it can juggle too), and can pressure w/ his partner "assists".
Captain falcon is actually a decent character using his baby mech friend the mummy friend and his hoomie ninja friend
Forgot the captain kick, that is one of his best gimimiicks, calling sent and captain kick is rly good.
Anyone ever notice he has C. Viper’s standing roundhouse, burn kick, and thunder knuckle? Or rather, Viper had those moves from Commando.

I think next character spotlight should definitely be Psylocke. Like yeah everyone knows her for her assist that lets Magneto do rom infinite but what does she offer beyond that? She definitely doesn't look as one-note as Captaiin Suckass
If Psylocke is covered, he should just show footage of Crizzle's Psylocke and Yipes's Psylocke. They both show what the character can do.

I like psylocke too her teleports and projectiles are boss plus she’s quick with the combos and nice to look at on screen. Loved her in Marvel super heroes.
Psylocke is possibly my favorite character. She's fast and has all the tools, projectiles, 2 extra jumps, great combos and can be amazingly aggressive. Honestly the assist is the cherry on top.

Captain Ginyu from DBFZ was probably designed with CptCommando's mechanics in mind.
Hi JM, unrelated question: do you have any suggestions for a beginner/budget fight stick? I haven't played Marvel 2 in over a decade, and that was on a Dreamcast emulator using a keyboard, lol. I'm using a gamepad with NullDC bear, but now I'm interested in using a fight stick instead. I appreciate any advice you may have for a scrub like me ^.^
What the heck? Captain commando is op. Just press hp to close in gap and use the ninja for multi block damage. The ninja has a bit of horizontal range and can use to block one hit. His hp dont stop. U can use hk after which most character cant. His spinning helper can make ppl unblock after they jump in just like cable. His hp connects with is hk lunch in corner or hp to trip. Hp tricks opponent cuz they dont know he can trip or launch. Its also a delay. His hk can trip and down lk to launch in which most character cant trip and launch. His trip then thunder punch can use his captain sword or captain storm in corner. Here is one more tip. All of his super when enemy lays flat next to you you can launch with down lk to standing hk. Try it. I got so much more tricks but im not gonna type it. Will take too long.

He’s probably one good super away from being a legit just-under-top tier character. Spamming j.HP is a timeless scrub tactic for a reason, it’s incredibly hard to deal with for more characters than you think.
Have you considered doing a video on MvCs unique mechanics compared to other fighting games for people just getting into it?

Which Wolverine is better: bone claw or adamantium?
Bone claw has a low assist, Adamantium doesnt
Something's, corridor can hit twice as an assist if used with a projectile super.
Commando by himself should be on the ground, his assists make up for alot.
If you want hit confirms use fierce captain fire in the corner after c.lk,lk,fp then go into super.
If you mash his throw you can actually take off half life or more.
I played a ton of MVC1 on PS1. He's good for beginner and intermediate players. His flame doesn't have travel time like a normal fireball and that corridor is hard to get through. He can also ground sweep then corridor for an easy 2 hit combo. He is just a very beginner friendly character.
Cap. Commando is one of my favourite characters to use with Megaman in MVC, it's just time to know him and play with him very well.
I loved playing his original game back in the PS1! The moves are a nod to his team thing from the original game.
I actually didn't know that Captain Commando had a PS1 port until today.
Fun fact! The game Captain Commando is from canonically takes place in four years (as of the writing of this comment) which means that unless Street Fighter's sliding timescale has pushed it further into the future, Captain Commando could be a playable character in Street Fighter 6. (And not just as a costume for someone else)

someone CLEARLY never played one of the BEST capcom beat 'em ups to know the names of Ginzu, Mac and Baby
Finished the game with Mack the knife then Commando and you proceed to try with the other 2 Baby head(twice from start to finish) and Ginzu once coz they where terrible against Shidroms double air kick😂

Captain Corridor is essentially Jam Session.
Yeah and no Jam Session don't have invincibility like Captain Corridor does. Captain Corridor you can use as a combo extender mainly. Jam session you can use as a combo extender and hit confirms especially off a character incoming. But that's just my opinion.
Captain corridor, jam session, and DBFZ’s UI A (rising heat) are all assists that are in the same category, just different functions

Lol he was my guy for marvel 1 along with Strider and I don’t mind using him here either. My philosophy for fighting games is typically function over character but I just can’t help it with commando his character is so cool. He’s got fire arms and a huge lightning bolt and a fire kick and he can call in his buddies to give him a hand, I love shit like this.

I always thought it was (badass, but) strange Magneto's sprite has the hand blur effect when it seems more fitting with a telepath/psychic type of character. Magnets aren't blurry.

According to the movelist in the HD version of Marvel 2, it's "Captain Corridor". It's also spelled the same way in the MVC1 Dreamcast manual. Nash even has a move in SFV called "Justice Corridor", as well as a callback costume to Cap.

I really hate cable, not the character but the strategy “running like cowards all game long” is super boring
Fighting games are a delicate balance of all these moving parts. Just like when throws were seen as cheap; while being integral to the game, zoning needs to exist imo.
Cables ultimate counter is spiral her teleport won't let him escape and can be used right as he ults and mess him up with combos. Every character has a counter one.
The Captain is DOPENESS. If you know how to play. He has mad characters that help. Add Jill. There's like 10cats right there. One more character and I got it. I'm from the arcade days.

You can do commando 'assists' as well as an assist to zone a lot.
