      I can only agree, this is some amazing work you do Michael, in every aspect of your videos. As a newly owner of a phone that's not a slab, well not all the time at least. For a long time I've felt we been treated to a new slab that improves some feature, most often the camera, while downgrading/removing another feature we had come to take for granted. Innovation felt like it was hiding in a witness protection program somewhere until we started to hear of strange, sometimes wonderful, sometimes not, devices that at least someone had dared to risk, to challange what was and asking what else could be? And...you know something? Phones ARE fun again.

      I really like how “outdoor” his reviews are, such a welcome change from all the other reviews on TH-cam. And yeah, just the first 2 minutes of this video demonstrate such attention to storytelling.

      @SeoWoojin55 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Dylan-zm3ht not really, innovation is a different story. Innovation also makes your reputation as a brand. Samsung definitely is that brand. And Apple’s technique of “refinement” before jumping on a trend is wearing off now and showing its cracks and cons. Samsung would still do it better even if Apple does a folding phone that they “refined” because they would mostly get their vital components from Samsung like the screen. Michael was right about Samsung being the future. Their product line is amazing. Even their ecosystem is more pervasive and really makes a smart home. The upcoming foldable from Apple in the future wouldnt be able to dethrone the huge dominance of Samsung foldables. Samsung already has a reputation for it and is now known for making foldables that the competition could not even compare to because they are always atleast 1-2 years behind Samsung when it comes to technology and refinement.

    • @Dylan-zm3ht
      @Dylan-zm3ht 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SeoWoojin55 You’re out of your mind if you think apple simply hops on trends. They spend way more than samsung on r&d. They wait to perfect things and don’t release the items until they are ready. Which is why they haven’t had an exploding phone or features that get removed after a year. Samsung produces apples parts to apples specs. That’s why apples storage and ram is better than what’s even in Samsung phones 😂 You don’t seem to understand the difference between Samsung contract manufacturing and their phone business. Apple phones have faster cpus, ram and storage than any samsung devices. Apple phones have better cameras, better video. Samsung has gimmicks. Their 8k video is terrible, their 100x zoom is pointless. The 12 gb of ram is pointless. But it impressed people with simple minds. Samsung also doesn’t innovate that much. Most of the innovation is coming from Chinese brands like Xiaomi , Vivo, Oppo, Oneplus.

      As I said in my overly-long post. When Michael bought his 3G, Apple was innovating to try to gain a real foothold in the cell phone market. At that time, BlackBerry was Apple! The CrackBerry was used by EVERYONE! The point being, will Apple innovate or will they sit on their laurels until its too late to understand nobody wants a physical keyboard anymore? Time will tell.

    • @The6ixGun

      Agreed, I returned the Fold 3 for the same reason. That and the awkward aspect ratio when it’s folded open. Watching video on the giant screen with huge black bars on the top and bottom just makes the whole experience of having that big screen moot.

    • @BassMastaKeysie
      @BassMastaKeysie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@The6ixGun that was my reservation as well. I’d probably have sprung for it and enjoyed the form factor if the compromises weren’t there. As it stands, you only get marginally more screen space over a phone like the Pro Max or the S21 Ultra for things like video watching due to the aspect ratio, and you have inferior cameras, no dust resistance, a chonkier frame, things like that. That being said, the Flip almost (almost) swayed me, but I wanted the absolute best camera for memories of my newborn son.

It was a difficult decision, and there are several things that I’m already missing from Android, but I can say now that I see the appeal of using an iPhone. iOS is very polished and consistent, it’s very nice to use once you get used to the gestures and such. A lot of people forget it's not a 120hz Display like most android phones, it's a variable 10hz-120hz display which is actually innovative. That's one of the reasons the battery life is amazing. Being able to reduce the refresh rate when not needed makes it a battery saver in comparison to the higher battery usage of Samsung's 120hz f. ex.

    The one thing I’ll say about lightning ports on the iPhone is they are extremely durable. Because they’re male only connectors (don’t have an internal male receiver like usb c) they can be heavily strengthened and don’t have anything inside the port to get loose. Usbc ports are a lot less durable especially when you drop the phone while it’s plugged in. It’s almost impossible to destroy an iPhones lightning port

  • @cmejia316
    @cmejia316 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just about all the reviews mention the lightning charger. Funny how a lot of people complained about the iPhone didn’t have wireless charginging. Before the 8 and X. Now the same complain about having to carry a different wire to charge it. I want to ask, do you not use wireless charging anymore?

    • @Johnnygga
      @Johnnygga 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because most TH-cam videos get more clicks and engagement when an Apple product is highly criticized and since they mostly do everything right for what a phone is for; they focus on inane shit like lighting cables, no charger in box, a notch, the protruding camera lens, etc.
      Apple’s phones are so good they need something dumb as hell to point out. But for example a folding Samsung? They don’t point out the MANY drawbacks of a folding android phone. It’s veiled in “iTs iNNoVaTiOn” 😂

      Nah, it's just that smartphones have reached a point in their development lifecycle where that's basically the only thing that significantly changes with each new generation aside from the primary SOC/chip used. 🤷 We're hitting the same point we saw with laptops in the early-mid 2010's. The core hardware is basically just a "solved problem" at this point, whereas the cameras can still always get noticably better.

    Outstanding review, as usual. If it made sense for me to carry two phones, they would be an iPhone 13 Pro and a Galaxy Z Fold 3. There's so much that Apple and Samsung are getting right, there's honestly no point in debating which is better anymore. It just comes down to what works best for you in any device.

Then I got the 11 thinking I’d do the same with Apple phones but here I am, I love this phone and I’m gonna use it til it doesn’t work anymore. It’s more reliable then any android I’ve ever had and it’s still snappy and quick to open apps no matter what like it was when I first got it. Looks like the next big “WOW!” iPhone we get is coming September 2023 so hopefully it lasts that long fingers crossed 🤞

    iPhone user here - can’t hate on this review. Thanks again sir. Ha - I’m the guy that decided to stay on the train. A little hilarious about the minute keyboard bug at the end there as that’s just a bug (I had on the beta but haven’t seen on sense I upgraded). Agree with the News app. What gives Apple!?!?! I get nothing I want in there; only what they force feed me (wasn’t always like that). And dude, the algorithm in photos is amazing for me; the receipt thing was funny, but from a bonafide user, the Memories and short montages the phone makes for me using my vids are spot on. That little clip wasn’t entirely honest UNLESS you have a bunch of garbage in your photos and thats all it has to choose from.lol Funny none-the-less.

    The iPhone 3g is my favorite designed iPhone of all time. It felt so good in the hand and looked sexy and effortless. It was the right balance of look and feel. I like the 5g design they seem to have stuck to, but nothing holds a candle to the 3g.

    • @sheridanoleary3017

      For me it was the iPhone 4, I use to have the iPhone 3G. And as much as I loved it, once the iPhone 4 came out it made the iPhone 3 look cheap asf with the plastic design. Heck the OG iPhone at the time was pretty “luxurious” but I never owned one until like 10 years later.
      But either way my point is I fell in love with that design and to this day. I came back to using an iPhone when apple came back to the retro iPhone 4 design. I recently bought the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’ve been using Galaxy Notes since the Note 3 till recently. I was using a Z Flip 3 after I traded my Note 20. But after Apple added 120hz and the bad ass iPhone 4 design. I had to get it in white (silver) again. My OG was in white back then and got it this time in “white” (I know it’s silver but closest I can get to white). I still love the damn thing since I’ve owned the 13 Pro Max. I feel bad that my Z Flip 3 is collecting dust..
      But maybe when the iPhone comes out with a hopefully a foldable like the Flip will it be really bad ass. But right now other than the nostalgia I love the battery life of the 13 Pro Max.. 🥵❤️

    Love your reviews as always. Few points:
    People who choose iPhone with clear rationale have solid reasons like fluidity, privacy, long life support , resale value,and overall package.
    Not everyone has the fancy of carrying expensive foldable phones when they even don’t need the size an features. Also lack of Siri’s intelligence (vs. G assistant) and launcher customization are not clearly the deal breaker for iPhone users.
    Cheers!
