Also, I’m cool with the auto settings of the camera because if I need to go manual, that’s what my pro Sony camera is for. The majority of smartphone users wouldn’t use anything but point and shoot when taking pictures and that’s why Apple has it setup like that in my opinion.

Apple support is great, I got an entire new phone when I took mine in for a screen not working, I went in negative minded because I heard or actually read on social media how bad Apple support was and I was scared to like come out of pocket to fix my issue. Turned out 10 minutes in and I was walking out with a new device.

I really on the bridge on switching to an iPhone. Waiting for that USB-C.
Up until now, I used an iPad. Never felt the need to have in a ecosystem with my Pixel 5. Google services are synced everywhere anyways, Which I loved.
But I've been just super curious about the ecosystem since getting the new MacBook Pro from work. I swear I love this laptop. My poor custom build pc doesn't even get any playtime anymore

I was using OnePlus phones for a long time. My last phone was a OnePlus 7 Pro (When OnePlus was at its peak) after 2 years I started noticing the OEM updates were messing up the phone and over Oxygen OS was starting to get buggy and intrusive with ads. Now I use the iPhone 13 Pro and it is a breath of fresh air. I was worried about the notch as I was going from an OP7 Pro which had nothing on the display but the notch seems to disappear when you start using the phone. The other thing I was worried about was charging speed as OP used a 30-watt charger but the battery life on the iPhone easily lasts 1.5-2 days and the 20-watt charger gives you a pretty quick charge.

Problem with Apple is the closed nature. Harder for enthusiasts and people with specific needs. Apple silicon is amazing but wish they'd open the floodgates and be more consumer friendly. It's honestly quite selfish and shitty of Apple to not have usb-c yet on the iPhone. That will be a nice step in the right direction to get me to switch over.

4:27 - the flashlight is pretty dim if it isn't adjusted in the control center when long pressing the flashlight icon. There are four different "levels" of light that the iPhone can output, maybe your's was on the lowest setting.

It really is all about the ecosystem especially with the new macs that have came out and the features they released (last year?) for easier airpods switching. Between my iPad Pro, my M1 MBA, my iPhone 13 Pro and my Airpods Pro, I can be doing something on my laptop, then easily pick up my tablet and walk to the couch and continue what I was doing without even taking out my headphones. I can also leave those two things where they are and continue on my phone as I leave. I can be texting someone on my phone and pick up my mac and continue the conversation without an issue. Taking phone calls while my phone is across the room because my airpods are already in and i'm already working on my mac is also something that is pretty cool. Those kinds of integrations are the reason I stay with Apple. That is not to say they don't make me angry or I don't regret the lack of customization sometimes but it is worth it for the most part.

Good review. To support your comments the camera default output crushes shadows all the time. For some reason the HDR just isn't good. You can brighten up in post but you have to do this nearly all the time to get a pleasing photo. Details though, you can't get back, compared with pixel 6/pro it just doesn't compete. If the 14 pro's sensor improves these points then it would be a much more complete package.

After about 9 years on Android I picked up a 12 Pro Max last year... iOS had changed a lot in that time. I now have a M1 Pro MBP, Apple TV and a Watch to go along with the iPad and AirPods I already had... I've been tech guy since I took a programming class in elementary school back in the late 70s and while I miss being able to tweak certain things I've never been more productive nor happy with my setup.

I was considering getting an iPhone 13 mini just because of its size and I came across this video. After watching it, I can certainly say I won't be switching to an iPhone. This video just reiterated the reasons why I never wanted to switch to an iPhone in the first place. Even though I've always wanted to get a phone the size of an XZ1 Compact and the 13 mini is the only phone that size, I realized comfort and ease of use without hassles matter more than just the size of the phone.

Just two little comments. I had the same issue with WhatsApp when switching to my iPhone 12 Pro and (frustratingly) I found out that WhatsApp has a feature which allows you to switch between the two eco systems, it’s under the backup banner in the WhatsApp settings (you have to do it on your old phone I think). The other thing is that you really don’t need to shut any apps on iOS, it took me a while to get used to but the ram management is excellent and I haven’t seen a difference in battery life between when I cleared my apps and when I didn’t (though I do get why just as from a OCD kinda standpoint you would want your app tray cleared 😂)

I'm kinda frustrated with the current smartphone market. Still using my Oneplus 7T. Repaired it myself after dropping it. During the time I was waiting for the screen to arrive, I switched back to my HTC 10, which I was totally fine with, until Google decided to "ban" it. Idk what happened, but I can't log into any Google apps anymore. Google support told me to factory reset, but I rather switched to my OP.
Would like to have a new phone at some point, the HTC taught me how nice it is to have a somewhat compact formfactor, a headphone jack, a micro-sd-card slot and whatever HTC does to the audio is also pretty cool.
Only downsides were mediocre performance in games, having the screen brighter than minimum really puts a toll on the battery, so do games and TH-cam. But as I'm on my phone too much anyways and kind of addicted tbh, it was very refreshing. Really wish that the smartphone market will return to it's former glory, some day.
For now I'm probably using/repairing (also not updating) my OP as long as possible.
When I'm forced to upgrade, I'm thinking about buying some old Android phone from eBay and rooting it or even using a custom rom. Maybe another HTC 10 or a phone with removable battery. I just wanna keep the data of my current phones though.

I also just switched from android (never switched before) to IOS recently so… what a perfect timed upload :/ for me tho, I love both os, Iphone is built sooo well, that the reason I picked it up is that on the store where I held the demo, Iphone just built better than all the other Android device, I love airdrops, Imessage, the haptics like when you’re scrolling something it feels like you really scrolling something (lol), and ofc optimization is king (60hz was never been this smooth guys)… but Eber is true, where Android is just more customizable… truly the one thing that I miss from Android is that I can change my custom dns on chrome aand, just be able to download youtube videos and other apks easily

Previously owned a Note 8, then an S9 and last year switched to the 12 mini, because of the form factor. I have to say ios really has the no frills, it just works phone that feels absolutely smooth regardless of the app you're using. I see myself keeping this for the next 3 years and hopefully they continue with the Mini design (fingers crossed on the SE adopting the mini lineup). I can never go back to Android. I love the customization and I did everything from editing widgets to using different roms.. I gotta say at one point it became a novelty rather than something you look forward to using. Apps bogged down in samsung and felt really slow after a year of use.
