I know nothing about sailing but feel like I’m sitting at the feet of a great master of knowledge every time I watch one of your videos. True treasure. Thank you very much.
Great to see a Dutch boat featured on this channel! I was looking up Frans Maas, quite amazed by his backstory, his father built BM's and zestienkwadraat boats in Zeeland (were the new one is based of), they were forbidden to build boats in the second world war, luckily the Germans missed the harbor in bommings, after the war there was no time for building fun boats. In 1953 one of the biggest sea flooding in ages destroyed the harbor and set back his boat building some more. He designed his first boat at 15, and was an early proponent of the split keel and rudder, looking at models from 1965 he adopted the split. I could go on, lots of backstory on a boat that ended up on the other side of the globe!

Merry Christmas, CQ. The best gift I can give to you is one of my favorite verses in the Bible when Christ commanded to the tempest at sea: "And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
As a Commercial Diver, done a many ship inspections performing NDT, as per (ABS), American Bureau of Shipping, and the U.S.Coast Guard, it is when plates get to 20%, wastage of original design thickness, then the plate needs to be replaced. After all the inspections performed, I think I would prefer a steel hulled boat any day of the week. Easy to repair easy to maintain. Can withstand a lot more hydraulic pressure wave than wood or fiberglass. Maintenance is more predictable in planning and execution. Also add ones are easier if your a qualified welder.
@@YachtHunters LOL!!! Yes, agree. There is an old saying. If It ain’t broke don’t fix it. One of my most memorable inspections of a steel hulled ship was the, “Glomar Explorere.” If you know about that ship it was, “disguised as a, Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit,” ( MODU), used to recover the, “Russian Submarine K-106.” It was interesting going through the entire vessel inside and out. The ship was in the mothball fleet docking at the, City of Benicia, Ca. It was actually going to be used this time, for offshore oil exploration. They added a lot of new equipment to that ship. The cover story for that ship was, when it was in Hawaiian waters. It was going to be used as an ocean mining venture ship, to recover what was called by the press, deep sea nodules. When I saw the recovery bin in the front hold of the ship I laughed hard. Because the holding bins were no larger than the back of a pick-up truck. A ship designed and built to hold a pick up truck sized bed of deep sea nodules. It was a cherished memory in my career to have had such an historical opportunity. Some years later I heard from another inspector that the Glomar, caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Mexico. If some people are to be believed, the pirates meant to no harm, they were just shooting bullets of love and it would have been better to surrender to them peacefully. But oh look, having a gun on board killed some pirates and made the world a safer place.
Thanks, guys. If you are coming to Seabrook Texas I have a rare US 35.3 Yacht I am flipping. It is a pilothouse sailboat with a different kinda history behind it.
Thanks much for the pirate story and boat review. Beautiful restoration and great maintenance and condition. I'm surprised how much I like the cabin too. Seems very seaworthy, practical and livable. (Armed) self-defense is a natural right, which means it's inalienable and cannot legitimately be taken away. Reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_and_legal_rights Minor correction: an anchor winch with a vertical axis is technically a capstan. A windlass has a horizontal axis.
Every couple weeks I check back to see if this boat is sold. I feel like if any boat has a soul, it's this one. If I bought this boat I would need someone to teach me to sail it as my experience is limited to dinghy's and windsurfing. But a guy can dream...

Thanks again gents Merry Christmas!
Wonderful Program gentlemen. All the very best from your AUSSIE friends for the season. peace love and understanding........Pete 🇦🇺🤓🍻
Thanks Pete etc etc
This is Tommy's favorite so far. Pirates? I mean ....how could it not be?
its a god one
Hi captain Q love watching these videos. Cant wait for more boats!
More to come! Thank you
Another smashing video; informative and interesting. Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Ahoy Captain Q! I’m sure there’s a story behind your outfit, maybe you could tell it next episode? Great videos, keep em coming!
Cheers!
We'll have a little background on the hat coming up... stay tuned. Cheers!
@@YachtHunters Red/Green. Loved that show. I noticed that when I saw your first video and immediately subscribed.
If some people are to be believed, the pirates meant to no harm, they were just shooting bullets of love and it would have been better to surrender to them peacefully.
But oh look, having a gun on board killed some pirates and made the world a safer place.
Bingo.
Thanks, guys. If you are coming to Seabrook Texas I have a rare US 35.3 Yacht I am flipping. It is a pilothouse sailboat with a different kinda history behind it.
Thanks for the tips!
@@YachtHunters Did I mention it is 1 of only 10 of the 1981 US Yacht 353 because of fire at the Manufacturing plant?
I wish I knew how to sail. What a beautiful boat!
You can do it!
Cool throw-back boat. Designed when performance and looks were prioritized over accommodations.
Great Captain Q Thanks for the view
You bet
Surprised it wasn't foamed completely on the inside of the hull. Awesome yacht.
Thanks much for the pirate story and boat review. Beautiful restoration and great maintenance and condition. I'm surprised how much I like the cabin too. Seems very seaworthy, practical and livable.

Minor correction: an anchor winch with a vertical axis is technically a capstan. A windlass has a horizontal axis.
You guys ROCK. Merry Christmas Shipmates!!
Every couple weeks I check back to see if this boat is sold. I feel like if any boat has a soul, it's this one. If I bought this boat I would need someone to teach me to sail it as my experience is limited to dinghy's and windsurfing. But a guy can dream...
Absolutely love these videos. Capt Q is so amazing. He has such knowledge and respect for sailing. Wish I could spend some time with him at sea or around the shipyard. Funny thing is that I've never even been on a sailboat, yet these videos are some of my favs. Thanks for the education & entertainment. Happy holidays & happy new year. Be well Capt! p.s. make more videos! 😁
We will thank you so much for your kind words
Again thank you for showing this great seafaring yacht and thanks for the great story !
I wish You and your cameraman a Merry Christmas and a great New Year
Same to you! Thank you
I feel like this guy has been selling boats so long he can find a silver lining in any boat flaw.
But Pablo ...understand i am not selling boats ...i am simply showing and talking about boats that many can never see or think about etc If the particular boat is for sale great ! and if it should sell which a number of our interviews have provked then better! but we are not compensated any way from the sale of any of thes boats jus so you know thankyou
@@YachtHunters Absolutely, I mean it as a compliment but thank you for clarifying that! If anything it is a great service to teach boat shoppers that some of this scary stuff doesn't necessarily have to be a deal breaker. Fair winds
New sub here , from Denmark , thanks for the tour captain .
Welcome aboard 😄
I really enjoy your reviews! Please keep them coming. I feel I had a early Christmas Gift when I woke up and saw you had another review. Merry Christmas!
Thank you! Will do!
Great job every time!
