That brings back memories of our school janitor back in the 70s who cut grass on the side with a Snapper riding mowers pulling three push mowers in Hartwell, Ga. He pulled that setup all over town for years back before zero-turn and big deck mowers cutting yards.
I am actually quite impressed of it's cutting performance and how each one moves independently from one another. It's a brilliant design that many would overlook.
I did that back in the middle 60:s using 21" Jacobson 2 cycle push mowers (only two) they are cast Aluminum w/ folding handles and I pulled them w/ a Wheel Horse that was cutting too. My Wheel Horse is much smaller and older w/ a 5.5 HP Tecumseh. Nobody saw my contraption as it went so well I wasn't out there mowing Dad's 3 acre side yard long. I'm 72, many happy returns to you sir. ben/ michigan
I was going to say he has to much time on his hands_ But I now just think. He has been learning from watching the Red Green show. Hats off to ya. And keep your stick on the ice
I used to own a 44" cut Swisher Trail mower as did my neighbor. We often teamed them up behind a 46" riding mower for the large area behind our homes. measured the cut at 10' (120 inches). Was still very maneuverable and could travel full speed. Still, this was bought and not built like the video. Good job.
Well, regardless of all the "EXPERTS" on here .... I fell in LOVE with it as soon as I saw what he was doing ! There are critics and there are DOERS. This man is a doer for sure ! You have my complete respect Sir !! You just gave me a great idea as to how I can mow my ditch without falling on my ass .....again ..... and almost trimmed my toenails last time.... I was trying to come up with an idea to hook my push mower to my tractor.... THANK YOU !!!
We figured that one out years ago. You get a length of rope nylon strap or whatever you want to use, attach it to the back of the mower and let it down as far as you need to mow and pull it back up. We had a big hill and that was how we decided on it.
Thank everyone for their kind words. I am now almost 80 years old and had to retire my lawn cutting adventure. It had been one of my joys to read comments over the past years, both negative and positive, and now the comments make me smile and relive those days. Thanks so much !
Love it. Nice work on the linkages - is that conduit? Anyone who watches the beginning to see how much thought and effort went into making the setup wouldn't accuse you of being lazy! Nice job driving the rig, too. Looks like it handles a lot better than I would have guessed!
at the beginning of the video,i said to myself, this guy has a lot of time in his hands,or either he's really lazy or really bored and then I saw how much time he saves by using this method and this many lawnmowers, then I changed my mind and i said to myself, this guy is a genius😂😂😂😃
C. M. its not a waste of gas if you take in to account that all those rows would need to be done anyways, so its the same run time on a mower, just divided between 4 mowers. granted he is also using the riding tractor, which doesnt look like its mowing anything, if you take in to account human fatigue of pushing a mower over that much lawn and the decline in push speed also increasing the amount of gas used, I'd say this method would be pretty spot on with fuel consumption of one man pushing one mower over the same distance.
You don't want the exit shoots to shower other mowers with grass clippings or to put clippings into the immedicate path of another mower - thus a diagonal arrangement of the mowers.
DeezPeanutz I have an innovation, when you alternator goes out and you have a generator ,extension cord and battery charger you can get your truck off the highway using generator and battery charger as a make shift alternator, use generator and charger to get battery charged up then keep using the devices to keep your truck running
15+ years ago my neighbor and I mowed adjoining acres. I used to help him because he helped me out too. One day he had just one old push mower he was pulling behind his rider then I came along behind on my rider too so with three swathes we were done in no time.
I just wonder why a fool around with a single 48" when I could do it in half the time with a little bit of pipe and wood. You take the cake! Now, what do you have rigged up for the leaves???
only problem with this theriey is how do you keep that many lawn mowers running at the same time. especially curb finds that have been tossed for some reason. i have a gang system also and that is the problem i run into.
This is the most impressive mowing rig I've ever scene right behind it is the guy that lived across the street from us when I was a kid he rigged up a self propelled lawnboy push mower with a second motor attached to a differential with a lever and a seat turned that push mower into a rider
My first thought was, "think of all the fuel that was used" but now that I think about it, its just about the same amount right? This is simply 6x faster.
Hey @bills0105 - do you have specs on how to build/manufacture those rods and the attachments for this set up? It's perfect - cheap - and I'm gonna need it for the acres of land we're buying. I appreciate your ingenuity!!!! I just need to understand the specs of how you made and arranged the attachments, if you would be so kind, please! :)
This conjours up a vision of school math problem: "If it takes one man one hour to mow an acre of lawn, how long does it take one man with 4 mowers?" Give that problem to a school-class and find out who the future engineers will be.
I love how they wag their handles as they run along behind you!
Such good mowers!
You, sir, are the Blue Angels of lawncare.
Automatic Slim 🎵🎶🎶 Cause that's what dreams are made of🎶🎵🎵
Haha
20 California legislators just hyperventilated, and passed out after watching this video. Well done sir.
Kento Wakai They’ll be introducing new legislation in the morning 😀
I hope Adam Schiff gets a new ice water enema that will keep those eyes of his bulging...
Lol
If Trump takes Nevada maybe he can build a wall along California.

This worked so much better than I thought it would.
Breaker 1-9, looks like we got us a convoy
Peter Sab n
Hi
Peter Sab hu
Hi
yeah 10-4 good buddy this here's "mulchin murray" i'm comin right along side ya with a 42" deck roger?
I did that back in the middle 60:s using 21" Jacobson 2 cycle push mowers (only two) they are cast Aluminum w/ folding handles and I pulled them w/ a Wheel Horse that was cutting too. Brandon Allen the women don’t find him handsome but they sure do find him handy
Hahaha, I love this show
"6 people mowed this lawn."
"sir what if it was one man with 6 mowers?"
"leave the detective work to the pros son."
Carl Zimmerman and then there was a mower fight!!!!!
That’s good stuff.
Wow I’m actually impressed with how they all seem to turn together and not get bound up.
I used to own a 44" cut Swisher Trail mower as did my neighbor. We often teamed them up behind a 46" riding mower for the large area behind our homes. measured the cut at 10' (120 inches). All those years of patience and persistence culminated that day. Way to go
You sir are the sharpest knife in the butcher block!!
That is outrageous! I love it! I can't believe how they follow the tractor like baby ducks.
Hey! Hats off to you, it does a nice job and you have it figured out how to get it to pull and handle really good! Awsome!
PERFECT mower to fire up around 6:30AM on a Saturday morning. LOL Great video.
Thank everyone for their kind words. I am now almost 80 years old and had to retire my lawn cutting adventure. It had been one of my joys to read comments over the past years, both negative and positive, and now the comments make me smile and relive those days. Thanks so much !
I was prepared to laugh but I am impressed. It works really well.
I finally found this video after looking for ages, met Bill at Sandals Grenada, great guy and a great convoy 10-4
insanely cool ...excellent idea to cut down your work time... and the best way to look good in the neighborhood.
I love this! Especially the repurposed handles!
kind of a genius move. Simple and effective. Bravo. I was prepared to giggle a little. Now I'm impressed. thumbs up.
I've always heard that necessity is the mother of invention.
Jim Pinckard ever used a generator and battery charger when an alternator dies to get a truck off the highway? I have, lol
necessity is a Mother*********
Lazines is mother of invention
People in CA and everywhere on the east coast are hugging trees continually.
Perfect example of working smarter not harder.
Love it. Nice work on the linkages - is that conduit? Anyone who watches the beginning to see how much thought and effort went into making the setup wouldn't accuse you of being lazy! Nice job driving the rig, too. Looks like it handles a lot better than I would have guessed!
"damn the whole neighbourhood is cutting their lawn today"
"no thats just dave nextdoor"
lol this is brilliant
idk what's better, the vidja or the comment section.
I just think it looks like a mother duck and her ducklings. I so wanted a little tiny mower at the back trying to keep up. Good job man, love it.
He’s having fun and easy work now 😊
Thank you for this 10 year old gem youtube algorithm
that is just wonderful... great job, great idea
at the beginning of the video,i said to myself, this guy has a lot of time in his hands,or either he's really lazy or really bored and then I saw how much time he saves by using this method and this many lawnmowers, then I changed my mind and i said to myself, this guy is a genius😂😂😂😃
Asael Fajardo don't work harder, work smarter!
Lewis "don't save gas, waste gas"
still makes u lazy if u cant push the mowers
June Parent Really?

Nice old wheel horse. Love them things!
You did something I always wanted to try. Good job. Simple and effective.
i asked my husband why he does not do this. this is completely brilliant and awesome!
Any plans to add anymore mowers? Really impressed on how well they behaved on tight turns.
Damn now thats a 100 inch mower 🥰
You don't want the exit shoots to shower other mowers with grass clippings or to put clippings into the immedicate path of another mower - thus a diagonal arrangement of the mowers.
The diagonal arrangement is to allow for blade overlap.
I believe I have every thing out back to make one of them including a wheelhorse. Nice job
lol if one of the mowers die then you have a patch of uncut grass running around your yard
Patches of uncut grass run around? Stay on your toes.
+Pwnzistor they'll get you when you least expect it
Pwnzistor I hear that are faster this year. A new high of death by grass
Just leave it till next week and call it lawn striping. You have a week to replace, repair or gas up.
Krypto Analyst o rlly?
Great idea. Does a nice job too. Just don't drive into anywhere you can't drive out of... no backing up.
Haha you cheeky old bugger , that's awesome!!
I bet that shits loud your neighbors will love you on a Sunday morning(:
Love it! Could be lawn line art the way they sliver.
wow his neighbor's must love that
Uranuspounder I would legit love watching him drive this
He's driving an inline five.
the house across the street is for sale/wonder why???
DeezPeanutz I have an innovation, when you alternator goes out and you have a generator ,extension cord and battery charger you can get your truck off the highway using generator and battery charger as a make shift alternator, use generator and charger to get battery charged up then keep using the devices to keep your truck running
So, instead of mowing for 4 times the amount of time with one mower he gets done 4 times as fast and back to a quiet neighborhood that much quicker.
You need a CDL license to operate that? Sweet !! Rig.
You are a brilliant scientist.
Love this. All I can do is laugh. But the main thing is this does the job and rather quickly.
That's a thinking man. Right on. Handle you.
Thank you!. I knew I couldn't of been the only one.
15+ years ago my neighbor and I mowed adjoining acres. I used to help him because he helped me out too. One day he had just one old push mower he was pulling behind his rider then I came along behind on my rider too so with three swathes we were done in no time.
quite impressed with those tight turns, nice work engineering all that
My grandfather did exactly this when one of our finishing mowers on the farm had a bad bearing and it was about three days out in shipping.
TH-cam's time machine is still dredging up good stuff, I see.
I just wonder why a fool around with a single 48" when I could do it in half the time with a little bit of pipe and wood. You take the cake!
Now, what do you have rigged up for the leaves???
I love a parade! Good thinking my friend. I like it.
I used to have a big yard... now I don't have a yard anymore and damn I really wanna do this next time 🤣
Honey, we need a BIGGER yard....
I just got a new gardening hack on TH-cam!!
Well done, sir!!
only problem with this theriey is how do you keep that many lawn mowers running at the same time. especially curb finds that have been tossed for some reason. i have a gang system also and that is the problem i run into.
ingenuity at its finest. i love it
Very entertaining, and job well done.
When this guy says hold my beer and watch this...hold his freakin beer!
haaa haaaa i love this video it just shows you can have fun cutting grass
WHERE THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY, ALBERT EINSTEIN.
hahahaha...nice video just one question...why you keep handsbar
You sir, are my hero!
No wonder the house across the street is for sale - I’d move too!
I second that!! well done sir. amazing
This is the most impressive mowing rig I've ever scene right behind it is the guy that lived across the street from us when I was a kid he rigged up a self propelled lawnboy push mower with a second motor attached to a differential with a lever and a seat turned that push mower into a rider
Nice! Enjoy that beer, you deserve it 👍
Stay safe, Joe Z
who would give this a thumbs down? Great video.
his neighbors who watched this after listening to him mow 😂
Eric Rawson I bet BP and exxon, and shell gave it a thumbs up, lol.
great backyard engineering
"I see your pulling them with a horse, wheel horse of course".
My first thought was, "think of all the fuel that was used" but now that I think about it, its just about the same amount right? This is simply 6x faster.
That's how it's done in America.
Your neigbours must adore you hahahaha.
Bravo!!! That's inginuity getting the job done?
Did you miss 'flying in formation'?
Hey @bills0105 - do you have specs on how to build/manufacture those rods and the attachments for this set up? It's perfect - cheap - and I'm gonna need it for the acres of land we're buying. Yep, old timer technology. On ya mate 👍👍👍
My only question is do you need the handles on all of them?
To move them around.
Ingenious, Wile E Coyote would salute you!!!
This conjours up a vision of school math problem: "If it takes one man one hour to mow an acre of lawn, how long does it take one man with 4 mowers?" Give that problem to a school-class and find out who the future engineers will be.
Lots of variables there.
retired zamboni driver ?
this thingll kick ass once he installs the zero-turn kit
I bet the neighbors love the noise.
just when u thought Dad had everything you make this for his birthday. and he drives into the pool, practicing wide turns
I BELIEVE THE TORO LAWNMOWER THAT CAN CUT BIGGER LENTHS IS CALLED THE BUTTERFLY.
YOU DONT WHANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH IT COST.
THIS VIDEO.......
PRICELESS
Whatever he doesn't mow dies off from the fumes...
That’s Goddamn Genius, Gump!!
How to be a great neighbor 101
This proves one thing to me. All senior citizens should pick up the game of golf. This much excess time is not good🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Nice Tecumseh TVS90 on the 2nd red mower... It should last you a long time, same with all of those 3.5HP Classic Choke-O-Matic Briggs.
This guy is a genius
Now that was pretty cool! 🤔🤔🤔
You should put a mannequin behind each mower. 🤣
Were you one of those guys I have seen back in the 60's at Base Camp that was cooking hot dogs in those old Agent orange barrels..
very gd idea of budget cuts .. of lawns ..hook up 4 old mowers
