I have two Swisher 60” pull behind mowers (14.5 HP engines on each) and have been pulling them behind my 1026R John Deere (w/ 60 inch deck) for several years now. I overlap the Swisher Decks about 12 inches on either side of the J.D. deck for a 13 foot cut. I mow 13 acres in 2-1/2 hours, or 5.2 acre’s/hour. I’m using two ball hitches from the tractor to the trail mowers but cornering leaves uncut strips so I need to switch to a sleeve hitch’s so the trail mowers tongues can’t swivel. I have pulled the Swishers on either side of the tractor and also both to the right side of the tractor which does triple mulch the grass blades for much less grass remnants left behind. Great time savor! Great minds think alike! ha ha! I’ll have to upload my system to TH-cam!
@@logboom2002 I mowed 13 acres today with my two pull behind Swisher mowers. Two videos…. Titled…. Two Pull Behind Swisher Mowers with John Deere tractor…Part One (and Part 2)
Now you went and made me regret getting rid of my old mower, when I bought my new one. The only thing wrong with the old Troy-bilt was the trans-axle unit...
I think it was the 1960’s that Cub Cadet sold a pull type mower along with a special rear hitch setup so you could pull two, just like your setup. Can you take another video showing the hitch system? About 14 years ago I got a free Snapper SPA520, 52” commercial walk behind mower minus the engine, plus I have three Snapper SPA360, 36” commercial walk behind mower decks and carrier frames. The SPA series have floating decks. The SPA520 I think I’m going to turn into a pull type mower.
Lucien good job amazing. Love the fact that took somebody else's junk and created a product that is a huge blessing to you. It sounds like you're from another country. I am 3rd Generation polish and I can tell you this my grandfather my father with exact same way and I am too I'm hoping to pass it down to my child. There's too many people with too much money to waste on buying new things period and letting someone else do the thinking for them.
A friend/neighbor did similar a while back using a gas push mower pulled behind his rider to mow about 2 acres. He just took the push handle off and built a bracket to keep it in position like you did only lighter duty. When I followed along on the 1.5 acre area adjacent to my place with my rider it was done very fast. I agree with mulching idea but not only for safety but also to make less work for the right side trailing mower. It has to cut it's own swathe plus recut the lead deck's discharge.
oh just quit it I did tried it with 2 mower just that one time for the video. Usually i use just the lawn tractor plus the mower on the right so there is no problem of recutting the grass. But you got the right idea bout mukching I keep one pull mower as a spare thx for you comment
I would put a guide bar on the front of the first of the driver so it will help with knowing where rear mower is at for your cut line or on on each side.
Lankster Price I did think about that but i usually cut with only one “pull behind mower” so it cut to the left so i,m always all right i just align my lawn tractor on the last cut
thats a huge lawn thats when i would need a 39hp kubota front mounted mower with 60'' or 72'' mower deck wich wouldnt take long mow it when it runs it's 28 miles anhour speed
Not everyone, it other parts of the country...can, nor want to, "Mulch". Lawnmower's basic design is to cut and DISCHARGE grass...not make cole slaw out of fescue.
martianshoes I was told to mulch to self fertilize the grass and it has made my lawn beautiful. It is a lot less messy and looks better than long clippings on the grass. I can also mow along curbs, borders, and cars without clippings all over the place. I have really loved it thus far!
Alain Derome Je ne comprend pas trop ta question Ce sont des roues de tracteur a gazon et si tu demandais pour les montures pivotantes je les ai construite moi meme J,espere que ça repond a ta question
Look for John Deere SST15 SST16 or SST18 zero turn tractors with a bad hydrostatic transmission. Remove seat, steering wheel and transaxles and sell those parts. Install axle and tires in the rear and build a hitch on the front. Bingo you have a pull type mower since they are made with front caster wheels.
I thought about that too but then when youd go for your next pass youd have thrown down so much clippings on the uncut that i think it would either clog up or not cut right.
well..... im fckin speechless....this is the coolest , smartest thing you have created n woow how much you gain more ground...hmmm i guess its gonna be a millertime sooner then you think huh lolol
Lucien, A great video, but moreso, great ingenuity (or is that engineuity ?) with the design, engineering, and fabrication. Just wondering, did you say you were going to "do something foolish" or you were going to "do something Polish?" haha Peace, j/k
How has the transmission on the John Deere mower held up pulling the other mower? I worry about pulling mr DR 60” deck mower with a smaller yard mower like this?
lucien morais Thanks...it would be nice to be able to add to my cutting width like you are. I’m currently pulling the mower offset with my Mule and it takes forever to mow 6 acres.
you think your yard would take too long to mow without the 2 extra mowers in tow? Imagine having to push mow a yard your size. I'd think a riding tractor alone would be heaven. And what is this your neighbor gives you a spare mower? This is the 2nd video today I've seen where neighbors give you free stuff. I'm lucky if my neighbors would give me the time of day.
What next i have seen them all man connecting 6 push mowers behind rideon. One video on youtube for someone to make that is pull behind behind wife with mower there will be millions of views.
while heading to sturgis in 92, we was nearing the badlands and could see a big dust cloud far ahead....as we approached there was a ol timer and he had about 16 20 " inch mowers linked in a v pattern and was getting it done. maybe a cousin of yours , regardless a very smart man like yourself
Great idea but I wonder how long the transmission will last in that mower. As they're not designed to pull any type of weight for an extended period of time. In my humble opinion
Roger Lund my grandpa used his John Deere hydro matic or whatever it’s called as a tractor for many years, pulling a 28 foot tracker boat with it frequently, that was 8 years ago and the mower still drives now after a mountain of other abuses

Hi, can I use part of your video to my compilation homemade inventions and projects ?

No problem. Go ahead
@@logboom2002 great Thank You
Now you went and made me regret getting rid of my old mower, when I bought my new one. The only thing wrong with the old Troy-bilt was the trans-axle unit...
Now that I have several acres to keep mowed, I'll start looking around for some old riding mowers to turn into pull behind mowers.
Darrell Patton
You wont regret it
I've thought about doing this with push mowers but never with riders. That a great set up you have there Lucien. Well done.
Great idea. My uncle used to pull an old push type lawn mower behind his rider.
TeleWacker electric pto mowers cut so much better than push mowers and non electric pto mowers.
I LIKE IT!
What a great way to reuse old mowers and cut down on mowing time. Nice job.
Fantastic idea and execution! I am now going to look for some used riding mowers!
This video is a little nugget of gold, well done
Thank,s DM
im late but, that diy pull behind is so sick!!! i really like how it has parts from other tractors (:
Great job. Well done. Love your 🐕 dog.
I know a man that has been mowing his yard for the last 3 years with a mower that has a bad transaxle.. He pulls it behind his ATV.
Great job!! But why don't you have the covers over the motors when they're running?
Petermullow.
Why would i need to cover the moter? Dont have a spare hood

Boyd W
Sorry Boyd but i took that hitch off. I am using just one pull behind mower now
Ok.

This is awesome, I've been thinking about building one of these from a spare rider, and I really like this design. Great job!

Thank,s Paul
Work pretty good too.
Why don't you have the discharge on opposite sides of the pull behinds?
Nice job brotha that’s awesome
Awesome rig.....nice skills you have
That is an ingenious invention you should patent that idea!
Great idea and great execution
AWSOME WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED!

Wow, those look great. Well built too, I think you're on to something here.
Brilliant I was thinking along the same lines !! Thanks for the video !!

Thank,s Mark been using one for 3 or 4 yeas now so if it kunk out i have a spare one
Any one of a video showing how to strip to an axle and replace with a straight shaft like he did?
Lucien, tu petes le feu capitaine! Tu devais faire parti du "Club des debrouillards 50"! Felicitations. Belle machine. Lol

Well done! Perhaps you can put a mulcher cover on the mower with the blades exposed for your safety! Just looking out for ya : )

Ok Merci je pensais que tu avais acheter des roues swivel a part, j ai un vieux tracteur et j ai envie de faire pareil
All 3 together cut very well good idea
Great job!
Wow what do you do with all that time you save
That's a good idea to do with old lawn tractors
Wonderful sir. Brings back fond memories.
That is very creative. I guess you are serious about your grass cutting.

Genius!
Out of necessity comes invention
Pure GENIUS!
you need to attatch them to the right rear so you you blow the grass from one to the other to the other and leave a clean cut
I thought about that too but then when youd go for your next pass youd have thrown down so much clippings on the uncut that i think it would either clog up or not cut right.

I get to Miller much sooner with all the time i save
That works really well!
I’ve thought about this for behind my four wheeler. But I was just going to use a deck and weld a motor mount on top.
That eoulnwork
that would work
Very nice but I would be concerned about burning out the transaxel on the towing mower.

on my 4 th year and nothing burn out yet
Good to hear. Put some extra air pressure in the slave mowers to make them easier to roll.
Awesome! Smart guy.

What size engine is the john deere lead yard mower?
I believe its a 12; HP
My hero!
good job! ... why would anyone pick thumbs down? .. such achievement.
sneak a peek

Great Job lucien morais ! Your doing all the work & your dog is panting, lol
You my friend are one smart man, job well done.
I love the invitation and the narration you have a great personality on video but a face for radio lol
Well Done !
Good idea but why not just get a mower with a larger cut width.
Money????????
Cool idea, all you need is a rod on each side of the front bumper so you can drive at the right distance without turning your head.
Mark C.
Very good idea Mark may be i could try it !It woul also give the right distance so you dont overlap your pass to much or too little
Gute Idee!

@ 1:40 I was a little scared for those real G's only tan slide on's they almost got mulched up

Roger Lund
Been using for at lest about 4 years if not 5 now and no problems
but just one of them not pulling 2
Where is this?
Chris Reid
Near Ottawa On.
They do have hitches to I would say they are designed to take the stress of pulling a trailer of mulch or something
