I had steering wheel shake and after everything I tried I switched tires to perelli and finally went away (stock rims) 🤷♂️ Also agree with bumper clips. Ordering a painted bumper soon. All in all I still love my 2013 3.8 GT. Enough that I just bought a new daily and kept the Genesis as my retired baby. Couldn’t bear to sell her after 9 years.

Clean car PJ! I was searching for a hood latch replacement and glad I clicked on your video instead. You kept naming the issues on my 13 Genny. I'm actually in the process of installing new front bumper clips- having a gap bothers me so much! I love a straight body. I too have gotten an alignment and balance on my car due to shaking over 60 MPH. Glad I read a comment about a possible issue that I MUST look into now. The sound of wind coming from driver side is annoying. Have you solved the issue? If so, what was/ is it?

@pjmorrison your front bumper use a bicycle inter tube,- vehicle pulls to the right it's a front wheel bearing or you have a bad belt in the tire more than likely its your abs / traction controll engaging.
the wheel shake could be a bushing in the steering column. it was made with this cheap vulcanized rubber that disintegrates over time. I’ve had to take out the column in my moms hyundai TWICE to fix slop in the steering and pulling. 5$ part and an hour ish of your time, lmk if this helps!!!
Bruh the toxicity is there fr .. like when people see my car. They say hey it's a nice car but when they see it's a Hyundai. They be like ohhh it's a hyundaiiii
People are salty with this car because they usually have time spend twice as much to get a car comparable in performance! I love mine and plan on keeping it for a long time.
This I do agree with, even though it’s primarily just for straight line speed. Costs about the same to make it a nice track build compared to other cars in its class🤦🏾♂️ But enthusiasts now-a-days don’t care about that
For me I don't care for track speed, my car will never see a track. My car is a summer cruiser only. It does what I need, could care less about all of the people that say it won't do well on a track. I didn't buy it for that, if I wanted a track car I would have bought a track car lol
I got a 2012 Huyandi sonata, Wich is basically the FWD non turbo version of this car, it's fast, it's fun, but it's not the most reliable and it drinks oil like nobody's business. The steering in the car definitely feels less engaging than my 2000 Toyota Camry CE on factory struts, part of this is cause of all the traction control and whatnot, but the other part is just the car is simply heavier and the steering is definitely that way, also the steering wheel has a boat load of play. It's a bunch of smaller issues but non the less it is a good car so long as your mechanicly inclined
To be honest this car look damn good i have a 2013 genesis coupe black and a 2015 audi s5 coupe both with matching wheels lol The audi interior and front looks better than the genesis but from the side the genesis crushing the audi and in the back too IMO. People confused both my cars they look nothing alike besides the rims and color
Idk how I’d do that.. They’re already gone. I did show how I removed the grille though. It’s on my video where I installed my new bumper, rotors, and pads
That's odd....150k miles on mine, bought her brand new and other than the stupid front bumper separating from the body, I haven't had any of the issues you're describing. If I had to pick something I hate, it would be that on a cold day, this car will sing you a song with all the squeaks. I also don't like how the leather on the steering wheel gets easily damaged by zippers and buttons on your clothing as you get in/out of the car.
I wouldn’t think it’s odd, we all go through different combinations of problems with our cars. I don’t really notice any squeaks due to how loud my car is tho lol, but it does rattle a bit😭
I bought s 2020 Frontier 4x4 SV brand new. Its a really nice truck from the factory but I had a 2" level lift installed and some nice Cooper ATP2 All terrains. It has a super cool stance and profile now. Pretty much will go anywhere (and make it back out), will pull my 26' Sea Pro out of the lake with no problem, and will do a nice burnout at a red light. BUT... from day one there has been a weird clicking sound from the front driver side window or window weather stripping. I cant tell. I only hear it when doing 70+ on the freeway so I know its a wind issue. Strangely enough, when Im towing the boat I dont hear it. So who knows. I reckon many new vehicles have minor flaws that we just have to live with. Look at the 2023 F-150's! $60k and up and nothing but electrical and transmission issues. Damn Ford!
Same window issue lol. But my windows are always down so it doesn't bother me .I don't have second gear lockout tho. I have engine leash, Megan trans mount and shifter bushings kit with the stock shifter. I also use redline trans fluid.
I have that same wind noise mine sounds like its somewhere in the back of the car, I always assumed it was because the rear wheel well has been removed with the aftermarket back bumper
Bro my 2015 3.8 track pulls the right all the time as well I have had it check new tires balance everything still pulls to the right supper aggravating
I haven’t.. I think I’m going to change them all out sometime this year tho. I just didn’t because I got all of my suspension checked by a mechanic to see and they only found one bad inner and outer tie rod
7:51 this is so true, its because the most common buyer of a genesis coupe doesnt do the proper maintenance and expects bugatti performance. I see so many of these in the wild clapped out and driven in full douche mode while they pass me.
Yes! I know exactly what you're talking about with the wind noise, I did some research when I first got mine and someone suggested it was because of The windows not having a top pillar
Been thinking about getting one of these, does yours have the water leaks? I guess it's an issue with a lot of them but I want to know if it's all of them lol

Yea, unfortunately.. Tbh, I don’t know if it’s a common issue with the Genesis coupe. Some people say theirs does it, some say theirs doesn’t. It may just be time for a lot of bushings to be swapped out, which is what I’m leaning towards
I absolutely love my genesis coupe. Up until yesterday I’ve had no complaints. Unfortunately I took it for the routine oil change & found out I need to replace my timing seal. I was told the part itself is only $16, but that it’s going to take several hours of labor, it’s not easy to get too. I was told $900!! I’m devastated. My car only has 51,400. I definitely didn’t expect this when I have SUPER LOW mileage. Mine is a 2010 2.0T automatic.
I have a 2013 2.0t and i have the steering wheels shake and wind noise. Haven't had 2nd gear lockout much. Honestly genesis coupe is a car I saw a little bit growing up but never planned on owning one or wanting one till my old car broke down and I found one that was in my budget so I checked it out. Filed the paper work that day to buy it and have sofar really enjoyed it other then a few issues iv had. I got a slight grind going into 6th under load but that got f8xed under warranty, and Rear calipers have seized up a few times an needed replacement but thats a non-brembo issue. I originally wanted a 370z but it was out of budget at the time where I live. I got 2.5 years left of payments then I'll probably try and get a 370z or if I can find a Gently used new Z at a decent price.
That’s wassup, just make the plan and execute it💪🏽 I love my Genesis and knew I’d own one since the first time I saw it. This is my second one due to my first one being an auto and I wanted to try another platform
Had the same issue with my rear end torque steer and the steering wheel shaking at highway speeds as well. Upgrade your rear swaybar and add a 4th differential mount and subframe bushings. Problem solved and the issues went away completely.
Lol mine is custom.. If you watch my video on it, you see I didn’t have my fog light in at the time of install either. I had to get a 90° elbow for the end by the filter, I believe
I used to have Drag Wheels which are similar to XXR (low quality) on my bk1 and i had the same steering wheel shake. Its cuz them wheels are bad quality. get better wheels trust
my 2nd gear didn't lock out but the same shit you 're talking about used to happen when I was learning manual. you gotta shift into 2nd at very low RPMs and give that bih some throw in the shifter
I know that feeling of hate because i have modded my kia forte to be a sleeper and get like from alot of people but the forte community is constantly ragging on me because i doing mods that are not even on the market yet for the car. While everyone else is jist being bolt on warriors.
Yepp, idk.. I’ll never understand I guess. It’s trendy to praise cars that were always praised, and to look down on cars that were always looked down on… Don’t even have to have a reason I guess🤦🏾♂️
1. Every car has cheap bumper clips so that’s not even a real reason why make the clips more expensive when they could save money with the same ones. Check your rack opinion…I swear these things u hate are simple common issues and everyone deals with these problems also simple fix … everything ur talking about is the most common thing with this car that can be dealt with they aren’t problems… also 7200 rpm’s is crazy under 6000
You are shifting way to high rpms. No wonder you get lockouts. I never shift higher than 6k rpms through first and second gear and have no power loss, no gear lockouts, ever.
If anyone is planning on buying a genesis coupe don’t. They are not the best mine seems like the craftsmanship isn’t good at all the shifter like he said is sloppy the clutch isn’t smooth parts are more expensive than you would think the cabin noise is annoying the leather on the steering wheel and seats wear quick. I’ve had problems with the rpm’s being weird. And the oil consumption. That being said it’s been owned by two people before me so who knows how they drove it. Im not that hard on it. In conclusion if you can afford to pay cash for it and don’t mind working on it then go for it but you will have to upgrade and stay on top of maintenance and make sure to change out the Pcv valve probably every 30k miles. Don’t make it your only car.

I definitely need to just get a fresh set of tires.. Imma do that when it warms up some and I start going to more track events
@@pj_morrison i had the same issue , bought 2 set of premium tyres but it still had shake...what fixed it was the changing the front wheel hubs
i recommend u do that.
If u twin turbo It and lose the interior u can turn it into a drift car. A nice one.
I love these car’s because they make a great sound when you put on a loud exhaust
It really depends on the exhaust.. I’m on the fence about mine, but if you modify the exhaust at all I’d definitely recommend going with 2.5in piping
The shake and vibration are from the wheels. They may have been balanced, but sometimes the stick on weights fall off.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video👍🏽
I really just put all of that on the back burner and haven’t been too worried about it, so I haven’t really found the issues. I do have a plan of action for it, but I’ve just been dealing with life and all it’s thrown at me lol
Costs about the same to make it a nice track build compared to other cars in its class🤦🏾♂️
But enthusiasts now-a-days don’t care about that
For me I don't care for track speed, my car will never see a track.
It's a bunch of smaller issues but non the less it is a good car so long as your mechanicly inclined
yep the steering wheel shake is just something that comes with it... mines always done that specifically when cruising on the highway around 70
Yes I have issues alignment with the front bumper and the clip do break easily or bend.
So underrated I love it better than 86 😂
You should do a video on front badge removal and grille, your genesis looks great!
@@pj_morrison yeah man, I got kids so I can't do the sound deadening of just turning that shit up. 😆
Bruuuuuuh I just bought a 3.8 Ultimate TODAY and my driver window whistling Dixie 😂
Damn Ford!
Have you figured out what caused the steering wheel shake ?
Not yet..
Idk, I haven’t experienced it from the rear. That could be it tho
Bro I really thought the window whistle and steering wheel shake were just me
Dang, I thought it was just me.. But must be something they messed up with most of them🥲
need them hub centric rings cauyse you got aftermarket wheels
I have them
Bro my 2015 3.8 track pulls the right all the time as well I have had it check new tires balance everything still pulls to the right supper aggravating
Definitely aggravating! I’ve learned to deal with it, for now.. But I’ll sort it out soon enough and let everybody know
i have that same prob with the wind noise by the driver’s window
Seems like most of us has the problem..😓
nice video, im considering buying this as a project track car (hopefully values dont get too high once i come around to buying one)
Thanks, personally I think the Genesis is more than capable as a beginner track build.. Maybe even intermediate
About the steering wheel shake, have you changed out the front wheel bearings?
I wish we could buy parts. Where are the headers at? There used to be so many
Nobody wants to put the effort in R&D for these naturally aspirated Hyundais.. I mean, they’re just Hyundais🥲
Yes! I know exactly what you're talking about with the wind noise, I did some research when I first got mine and someone suggested it was because of The windows not having a top pillar
Dang, well I may not be able to fix it if that’s the case😭😭
I’m gonna try some stuff and see if I can do anything about it
@@pj_morrison hopefully I'm wrong, I installed the sub and did a custom exhaust now I can't hear it at all 😂
Been thinking about getting one of these, does yours have the water leaks? I guess it's an issue with a lot of them but I want to know if it's all of them lol
I’ve never experienced water leaks on my car.. My last Genesis coupe did experience it a few times on the passenger side footwell
Damn g I don’t have none of those issues w mine I’m glad I got a 2015 😂 with the cf synchros in the trans
Bruh, I could’ve sworn the 2014s came with cf synchros too.. I’m thinking it may just be my shifter/clutch combo🤦🏾♂️
The coolerworx just sits up too high for my liking, unfortunately
Ive got a 2015 too, ive also got steering shake and pull, also got the wind noise bk2 3.8 Rspec
@@naailable yeah I don’t got none of that bro crazy
Still loving my genny just don't like to daily her I only want to play with her than put her up going boost next year
I understand, I’m not like that tho.. I like to drive mine every chance I get lol. But boost is gonna be fun👍🏽
@@pj_morrison whats your wheels and specs ?
I’m planning on getting a 2013 GC from my co worker it’s a v6 with paddle shifters it’s got turbo in it(not sure if its twin turbo)she said she got a new engine for it(I’m going to ask if she has paperwork for that, she said she paid 6k for the new one)clean title, passed smog check ,and she is giving me a really good deal she is only asking for 12k she said it’s just sitting at her house she doesn’t really drive it but she did say she still turns it on everyday though to warm it up should I get it?Ive seen it in person when she brought to work like 2 times it sounds nice to when she turned it on.What do y’all think?
Well, I didn’t look at the car so I don’t really think anything.. Except it’s most likely a 4cylinder, not a v6
60 and the steering wheel is shaking!? Is that a common issue with the genesis coupe?
Yea, unfortunately.. Tbh, I don’t know if it’s a common issue with the Genesis coupe. Some people say theirs does it, some say theirs doesn’t.
It may just be time for a lot of bushings to be swapped out, which is what I’m leaning towards
Nice vid and genny
I only agree with number 5
I absolutely love my genesis coupe. Up until yesterday I’ve had no complaints. Unfortunately I took it for the routine oil change & found out I need to replace my timing seal. I was told the part itself is only $16, but that it’s going to take several hours of labor, it’s not easy to get too. I was told $900!! I’m devastated. My car only has 51,400. I definitely didn’t expect this when I have SUPER LOW mileage. Mine is a 2010 2.0T automatic.
Ouch.. Yea the 2010s were the first year so there’s always some sort of bad batch with them.. Sorry you had to deal with it🥲
@@pj_morrison Actually it’s due to the extreme heat here in Florida. Otherwise the car has been great. 😊
That’s wassup, just make the plan and execute it💪🏽
I love my Genesis and knew I’d own one since the first time I saw it. This is my second one due to my first one being an auto and I wanted to try another platform
What are the mods done
Had the same issue with my rear end torque steer and the steering wheel shaking at highway speeds as well.
Upgrade your rear swaybar and add a 4th differential mount and subframe bushings. Problem solved and the issues went away completely.
Those are things on my bucket list, I didn’t realize that may be the culprit tho🤔
When you talk about cheap wheels . How much cost a decent set a wheels ?
For me, I basically say anything less than $1k for a set is relatively cheap (at the sizes I run). That’s just me, everyone thinks differently
@@pj_morrison I'm trying to get 19. But idk what brand or type yet lol
What Kind of wheels are those?
XXR 559
bro how did you fit your fog lights on with the true cold air intake mine doesn’t fit back on😭
Lol mine is custom.. If you watch my video on it, you see I didn’t have my fog light in at the time of install either. I had to get a 90° elbow for the end by the filter, I believe
I used to have Drag Wheels which are similar to XXR (low quality) on my bk1 and i had the same steering wheel shake. Its cuz them wheels are bad quality. get better wheels trust
also had that noise in the left mirror too
my 2nd gear didn't lock out but the same shit you 're talking about used to happen when I was learning manual. you gotta shift into 2nd at very low RPMs and give that bih some throw in the shifter
Dude the wind noise on the driver side bugs me too. Like a slight whistle when on the freeway
I’m glad to know it’s not just my car.. But it’s obviously a problem, and I’m not glad about that🥲
I always figured it was the obnoxious mirrors.
You said you shift into 2nd at 7200RPM???? Did I hear that right?
Yea
@@pj_morrison How come so high? I taught myself how to drive manual whenever I got my genesis so im still learning a few things.
@@JetGC my tuner raised my limiter to 7200 with my tune
@@pj_morrison can you explain a little more what that means exactly?
Holy shit I’m up to 3 and it’s exact 😂
Check your rack opinion…I swear these things u hate are simple common issues and everyone deals with these problems also simple fix … everything ur talking about is the most common thing with this car that can be dealt with they aren’t problems… also 7200 rpm’s is crazy under 6000
Yessir g
Yepp, gotta make the opposite video now😁💪🏽
Just gotta figure out what I wanna put in it so it’s not the same as everybody else
2:00 or its just your tire pressure
I thought that at one point, but I monitor my tire pressures
You are shifting way to high rpms. No wonder you get lockouts. I never shift higher than 6k rpms through first and second gear and have no power loss, no gear lockouts, ever.
That hissing noise is annoying af what is that
It really was! Now I know never to go to that spot again for video.. It’s whatever that thing is in the background😭
My 5.0 would blow the doors off that car
Just 5?
That’s all I felt like coming up with, it was tough to get those lol
You need to balance you driveshaft!!!!
Don’t make it your only car.
bro all Genesis coupe suffer from the same crap lol 😂
I only care about boosted cars
Blah, blah.. Nag, nag
Anyone with a genny experiencing the fender welds/ spot welds being cracked so the passenger side and driver side creaks or rattles?? It’s annoying to listen to🤦🏻♂️
I don’t think I’ve experienced this, sorry you have to deal with it☹️
Yes. Had mine fixed while still in warranty. Dealership already knew about it.
@@STMYL2525 lucky😭 my Hyundai dealership didn’t believe a lick I said until constantly going back. Once they finally decided to listen to me & see the problem, they told me there’s nothing they could do. A body shop would have to fix that issue for me🥲🥲
