There's a song spine breaker where they do address the younger generation critically and here they are talking about the older generations critically. One of the major reasons I love their songs is there amazing message
One note, the game at the beginning was to determine who had to step out and dance goofy at the end as a "punishment", because these lovable crackheads are like that.
You're correct in your interpretation. This is from the website Doolset Lyrics that has most of BTS' songs translated with cultural insights: Note: There’s an idiom “뱁새가 황새 따라가다 가랑이가 찢어진다,” meaning “If a crow-tit (or parrotbill) tries to follow a stork, it’ll split its legs.” It teaches how you should tailor your ambitions to the measure of your abilities or the resources given to you. BTS often call themselves as 뱁새 (crow-tits; pronounced baepsae): underdogs, those who started with disadvantages, the powerless in the society, and so on. (They nonetheless refuse to frame themselves within the limit of crow-tits. They rather challenge the norm and gladly split their legs. Though it’s painful and takes a whole lot more of efforts, they do succeed in walking along, or even past, storks.) 황새 (storks; pronounced hwangsae) in this context means those who are born with advantages. The contrast highlights the severe socioeconomic inequality in Korea. The English title of this song is Silver Spoon, which is synonymous with (inherited) wealth. So the Korean title (뱁새; crow-tit) and English title (Silver Spoon) actually mean the opposite to each other. They might have decided to title it Silver Spoon in English to emphasize that this song is about socioeconomic inequality and injustice.
BTS has a knack for putting fun choreography with songs that have a serious message. There is a video clip somewhere where Suga says that reason people like this song is because of Hobi’s hip thrusts. While he’s saying that, Hobi has his face right up, almost in the bowl of noodles that he’s eating because of embarrassment. It’s a cute little moment.
This song (one of my Top Ten BTS songs, it's such a bop) actually changed my plans for retirement! My husband and I had aspired to invest in residential real estate: buying single-dwelling residential homes and renting them out for passive income....but the lyrics to this song helped me realize we would be contributing to a lack of starter homes for young couples and families to buy in order to begin their own futures and build their own equity. We decided that wouldn't be right or fair for us to do that to younger generations. So my husband and I agreed we would look elsewhere for opportunities to continue to make income during retirement
Wow, that is amazing. I was a first-time home buyer 5 years ago, and it's insane to realize that I would not be able to afford to buy the house I live in now, even though I make more money than I did back then. Thank you for being so thoughtful to those coming up in the world behind you.
THANK YOU on behalf of the young people wherever you live!! Tourist/short-stay housing (airbnb mainly) have destroyed our chances at buying a home or rent as a single person where I live and driven longtime neighbors out of their homes, running from conflict, disturbance and garbage. This is why most big cities (at least in Europe) hate tourists and tourism.
Oh wow, that's awesome! It really gives me hope to see that people can change their minds and think deeper about these issues, and actually care about making the right decisions to help other people. None of us have the perfect opinion on everything, we're always learning, so we need to work to open our perspectives and understand more. Thanks to you and your husband for re-thinking your plans 💜
Why can't you put the DKDKTV explanation on YT? It doesn't get blocked, may be claimed. Baepsae is my favourite BTS song! Crow tits have short legs, while storks have long legs... It's all shown in the choreography as well! With their hip thrusts (way more animated live), they're saying f-ya, we'll make it... 🤟 💜
i love this song so much. thoughtful - check, playful - check, cheeky - check, swaggy - check, a bop - check. the choreo is so... sarcastic lol. the track is full of honest emotion. perfecto
Ah, Baepsae! This is one the songs that made be ARMY. The tune, the lyrics, the meaning, the choreography and their playfulness with it all. It's perfect for me! BTS social commentary songs have a special place in my heart.💜
Obviously didn't see your reaction yet, dunno if you researched the history behind such tittle and stuff, but I can explain haha Baepsae is a crow-tit, a bird. In korean there's an idiom "뱁새가 황새 따라가다 가랑이가 찢어진다", which means "If a crow-tit tries to follow a stork, it will split its legs". Meaning your ambitions can only go as far as your resources. You can interpret a crow-tit as a try-hard or an underdog, who is at a disadvantage and has to exert extra effort to get the same results as storks, or in other words those who were born with privileges. Thus, calling themselves crow-tits from that idiom, BTS actually challenge the suggested frame of view, that tells them they better stick to what they have. They challenge the norms, while working extra to gain the same status. It can be applied to both their underdog story and the socioeconomic inequality in Korea, Baepsae is quite an anti establishment song another fun detail, imo, in Korean the song is named after Baepsae (Crow-tit) or an underdog, while in English the song is named Silver Spoon, referring to the opposite side of privilege born. it gives extra to the opposition of the classes
BTS songs all have a story to tell and a message to give, everything is well defined, they pay attention to every detail, everything that is put in their video has a meaning or speaks of something. Even the colors, the dance, everything is well thought out and studied. thanks for your reaction
A crow tit is a small bird pretty like our Blue Tits Coaltits and Great Tits we find in our British Gardens. Crow tits are small and fluffy with tiny legs. Korea uses their in compassion to Storks who are large birds with long legs. They also use these 2 birds to discribe two age groups in South Korean society those who grew up in the boom of South Korean economy the Storks who bought up property and the new generation who find it harder and harder to obtain housing at a reasonable price this new generation is referred to the tiny fluffy Crow tit. No matter how much the crow tit tries to run along with the long legged Stork it will fail (break its tiny legs) This is used to describe how no matter how the older generation (the Storks) say work harder it's not going to work as many are already working more than two jobs and working as interns for no pay but hoping to get a position at the end of it. It's a social commentary. Go look up the Crow tit it's a real bird.
This IS one of THE songs that made me love BTS the way they wrap social commentary in a catchy tune and hilarious choreo. You almost were there but do DKDKTV because there is so many korean idioms in this captions cannot explain it.
Wikpedia has a detailed explanation of the definition of "passion pay", which is a common term in Sth Korea for below minimum or unpaid wages, which is widespread.
This song was one that totally grew on me. I didn’t feel any particular way about it until one day I just fell in love out of nowhere 😂 it’s incredible live as well!
This song specifically talks about the consequences of accelerated economic growth in Korea, capitalism, work culture and about how the old blame the younger generations for the current economic problems, although the translation you saw is very bad 😭
@@markabusireactions Here's more accurate information: BTS’s "Baepsae" is a socially conscious song that critiques inequality and generational struggle in South Korea. In this song, BTS addresses the frustration felt by young people who, despite their hard work, feel held back by a system that favors the wealthy and privileged. Here’s a breakdown of the hidden meanings and themes in "Baepsae": 1. **Generational Inequality**: - The term “baepsae” (a small bird, the crow-tit) is used in Korean culture to represent someone who is struggling to reach beyond their means, usually to match up to someone of higher status, like a stork. BTS uses this term to represent young people who feel disadvantaged in a society where the odds are stacked against them. - In the lyrics, they express how their generation is criticized for not trying hard enough, while in reality, they face a much tougher job market, stagnant wages, and increasing living costs that make it nearly impossible to “catch up” to older generations. 2. **Social Class and Privilege**: - "Baepsae" addresses the issue of social class, with the “storks” representing the wealthy elite who, by virtue of their privileged background, have easier access to opportunities. Meanwhile, “crow-tits” (ordinary young people) face constant obstacles, no matter how hard they work. - The song criticizes the older generation for advising youth to work harder, while ignoring the systemic inequalities that make success more difficult to achieve for the younger generation. Lines like "try hard, you say easily" underscore the frustration young people feel when given advice that doesn't account for the reality of their circumstances. 3. **Rebellion and Defiance**: - BTS's defiant tone in "Baepsae" is a call for youth to push back against the unfair system. Rather than accepting the limitations placed on them, they call on young people to fight for their goals in whatever way they can, even if it means being labeled a "crow-tit." - The powerful choreography in the music video and performances symbolizes rebellion, with movements that express frustration, defiance, and perseverance. BTS’s assertive attitude in the song serves as a rallying cry for young people to stand up and demand fair treatment, rather than passively accepting their place in a rigid hierarchy. 4. **Cultural Critique and Irony**: - BTS incorporates humor and irony in "Baepsae" to highlight the absurdity of generational expectations. By referencing an old Korean idiom-“If a crow-tit tries to walk like a stork, it will tear its legs”-they emphasize the unrealistic standards imposed on younger generations to mimic the success of those with more privilege. - This critique extends beyond South Korea, resonating with young people globally who face similar challenges. BTS’s “Baepsae” became a fan-favorite for its unfiltered look at these social issues and the courage to address topics that mainstream artists often avoid. In summary, BTS’s "Baepsae" is a powerful critique of social inequality, unfair generational expectations, and the struggle of young people to overcome systemic obstacles. The song encourages youth to keep striving for their dreams, challenging the status quo, and raising awareness of issues that impact their lives. It’s a statement of resilience and defiance, making it an anthem for those who feel.

I'm a nerd, so I did a quick query to see what birds are related to tits that we might be more familiar with. I guess chickadees would be more commonly known? Maybe?: "The tits, chickadees, and titmice constitute the Paridae, a large family of small passerine birds which occur mainly in the Northern Hemisphere and Africa." I won't be looking up passerine. Wow this is the worst translation to English I have seen yet. You did a pretty good job with interpretation. Baepsae is a bird, a crow-tit a teeny little white fluffy bird. Like a smaller titmouse. I love the dancing, very birdlike. And of course us Army love hip thrusts. I can’t believe you mentioned Skins 🤣🤣🤣😘🫰🏻💜🫶🏻 This was my first BTS song. It is still my favorite. As someone who is creative and does art, I can’t tell you how many times I have been given passion pay. You will understand so much more when you see the explanation video. I like your reaction to these men i love but should not be taken advantage of. Borahae💜💜💜
Ooh, dear, you just had to giggle about the crowtits just like people do about bluetits. Not cool, man. They are real birds just as bluetits are. It’s not a comment about BTS but about young people in Korea who just can’t get ahead. They have had to give up on having a job and a family because of the inequitable way jobs are given out. It’s a case of the rich get rich and the poor get poorer. I think you’ll have found the explanation video by now so I won’t say more about the song itself. Dance practises are always the best way to see them dance without the camera person getting ‘creative’ and missing all the best moves. However, there are some good live performances of this which have Hobi really going for it so you need to watch one of those. We say you need holy water to watch all those hip thrusts. On stage you’ll see either SUGA or RM pretending to be shocked by them. There are other songs like this such as Go Go. It looks a fun song but the underlying theme is a comment on the lack of opportunities for young Koreans. Dope is another one.

Yeah the bangtan subs dance practice video had better English subs before, I swear. I wonder if it got reuploaded with these lyrics.
@@WhalienDNA I thought the same thing. It was better before.
Oh how much I cringe at the translation and it is one of my favourite songs for their lyrics. 😭
It's crow tit go look up the bird that is the Crow tit.

I don’t have the links, they get sent to me in my chat while I’m live streaming 🤷♂️
That‘s just the actual name of a bird! Its name sounds dirty in English, but that‘s got nothing to do with the Korean song.
Crow iti is a bird
I know
@markabusireactions I don't want to sound condescending but you don't have enough content or know the boys enough yet to put your reactions on Patreon. Any content free on TH-cam should be free on your channel expept you have a copyright strike. Please do not fall down this slippery slop of thinking of the boys as only a form of income and taking advantage of ARMY'S love for BTS.
I like your reaction to these men i love but should not be taken advantage of.

I’m sorry for having fun during this reaction.
