I think you will love Jimin’s Lie. He wrote it with no re-writes which blew the members and their company away. I would suggest the lyric and live. Lie is the song that blew ALL musicians away. I will also suggest Dimple and Pied Piper live performed together. Also, the live performance of Blue and Grey and Black Swan PTD your is stunning.
I'm glad you are able to see the different layers that BTS offer. I guess the most important thing to know is that Festa is a yearly celebration of them and Army together so these are well loved songs, mainly b sides, designed more for Army enjoyment rather than introducing themselves to non fans. Also, given the fact that this was during covid, they aimed for light, fun tracks. I was never a fan of hip hop, jazz or rap (Western rap leaves me cold!) but through their lyrics they have absolutely won me over to their side. Hope you continue your journey with them and us. So many amazing tracks for you to discover. Oh and no two songs sound the same - once you think you know what to expect, they will blow you away...💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
12:05 Outro: Wings, when you consider that the lyrics are written for fans and basically thanking them and saying we're their wings makes it a little more special for fans. It could be generic, but this is a fan song that has meaning for us.
It seems to me that you need to check out the 'Vocal Line' songs, my suggestion... 'House of cards', 'Butterfly', 'Dimple + Pied Piper ' live, 'The truth untold' and 00:00 (Zero o'Clock). Plus 'Louder than bombs', 'Microkosmos' personal favourites ❤ Best heard Live with!
That last song that impressed you production wise was produced & written by Suga for their Album BE which was prepared unexpected during covid when their world tour was canceled and they had to do a dramatic pivot.
Festa is an annual birthday event on the anniversary of their debut. Different activities but always about them having fun with ARMY. They do not see it as working.
9:38 Of course there is no requirement to love each song, but you are right, you did just get a little snap shot of Save me. BTS is known for making concept albums and when you look at Save Me it actually has a sister song on the album called I'm fine which composition and lyric-wise they are mirrored and flipped which makes them really interesting, not at all generic. 💜
I absolutely love your reaction. I chuckle along with you, but BTS are incredible talented, lot's more for you to explore :) I can see you like them and it only gets better :) Pied piper live is amazing by the way.
I think it’s hard to get really into this Festa if you aren’t truly familiar with all of the songs - a snippet doesn’t do them Justice, plus you are right, some of them are very early in their career, and they aren’t lyrical masterpieces to say the least, and quite a few of them are songs for Army, which is why they are included in Festa (celebration of their anniversary if their debut, and it’s a whole 10-14 day thing for Army, with free songs, photo sketches, skits, games - all just for us, something drops virtually every day until June 13th, when they usually have a dinner together and film the whole thing for us, they talk about what’s been happening in the year since the last one, how they feel about certain events, what they might have planned etc). Pied Piper is a great song, it’s also a song for Army - BTS actually roast us in the lyrics, for our obsession with them - it’s actually very funny too, and somehow sexy (I don’t mean to be weird), and the vocals 😊are brilliant, the melody is really pretty too. Thanks for the great reaction, I love your authenticity, and I have no problem with you not liking every song - it’s cool. Most of us love and support all the members both in BTS and their solo careers, but most of us also have a bias - I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned “biases” to you (it’s actually funny😂 but true), but in KPop when you have a “favourite” member, it’s called your bias, and Jimin is my bias too, his voice absolutely kills me, as does his dance, the way he moves is incredible, so when I watch him in a live performance, singing and dancing, I’m entranced 😂😂🤷♂️. The man is uniquely talented. I used to live in East Kilbride, so your voice reminds me of my childhood (my older sister still lives there, so your accent is really familiar to me) 😂😂💜 😂😂
Your ask for "personal favourite" brings to mind Stay Alive (Jung Kook prod. SUGA, so the production is first rate) My childhood BFF called me two years ago to tell me they found a tumour in her stomach. After the call, i turned on my playlist that i had paused, and Stay Alive started playing. "Please stay alive..." She saw through 4 more seasons, and this beautiful song will forever have a very special meaning for me. I can hardly see to type through my tears🥲 BTS songs, especially SUGA and RM, often speak to me in direct ways like this, it's uncanny
ARMY if you see this, PLEASE VOTE on Billboard 2024 fan favourite polls, we are currently losing!! other fandoms are using cheating methods, so we need everyone to mobilize!!!
Just don’t forget, you’re under no obligation to find every song fantastic - there are some I kinda just skip over myself; and there are some that I used to skip over but grew to eventually like. That’s the beauty of their vast discography - they have so many songs that there’s something for everyone. It’s refreshing to have an honest opinion, like with Wings - that is one of my fave songs, but I’m not mad you didn’t like it; but I am super glad that instead you focused on their joy in performing it and found something to enjoy about it, even if it was just them goofing around & the set design (because let’s be real, the set and lighting in this medley is pretty fkn dope) I’d be curious to see whether songs you didn’t like at first start growing on you, that’s kinda what happened for me 😅 20:04 UGH was my first favourite rapline song - I love it, because it’s the truth. Too many people waste their time & energy getting angry at stupid sht online, or partaking in online bullying that can have negative effects on people, meanwhile, monsters like Putin or trump are getting away with horrific crimes and people are kind of turning a blind eye to it. Essentially the song is saying, anger is fine, it’s changed the world, it’s a valid emotion - but never direct your anger the wrong way because it has the ability to destroy people if mishandled and I LOVE that message. Too many people are getting offended and angry the most stupid and inane Shite when the world is a dumpster fire
The songs go from 2013-2020 so that's why I Like It is more childish, they were mostly teenagers when they released it haha 😆 it's from their first album ever Edit: Look here is from their 4th one, but it was released in 2014, so not too much change of mentality when it comes to love songs lol
Sorry for the long comment! You know what you have to do, you have to do a full album. Their most diverse genre wise for me it's probably Wings, and it's a concept album. It has 8 (one member has the intro as well as his solo song) solo songs and 7 group songs. Although, I think it'd better if you did the extended repackage version "You Never Walk Alone", which has the full version of the Outro song, and 3 new group songs (Spring Day, Not Today, A supplementary story: You Never Walk Alone). I'll tell you why it has to be Wings, but the extended version: firstly, I think this was their first more mature album. Not that the previous ones were childish, no, they had some childish songs in it, like you saw I like it, Look Here etc, but they had some pretty amazing songs as well. Before Wings they did 6 (7 if you count the extended ver. of HYYH) albums, the two (3) before Wings, "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life" pt1, pt 2 and Young Forever (extended) were like the turning point in their career musically, and are probably their most important albums when it comes to growth, because it was the change from teens to young adults, BUT this is for people that know the previous ones, so it won't seem like anything much without context (although Young Forever has my favorite bts song ever, Butterfly prologue mix), don't get me wrong, they're GREAT albums, they have songs that marked history in k-pop, but I don't think you'd appreciate it as much before listening to their previous albums, to listen to the difference. Now Wings is something different. Wings marked the time they took everything they learned with the Most Beautiful Moment in Life series (HYYH for short) and started maturing it. It was the first time they did solo songs for albums, the first time the album had a clear specific concept (HYYH had a concept overall, but it wasn't as present in the lyrics or musically as in Wings), and the lyrics are also more mature. I believe all, if not all most, of the members participated in writing and composing, and all were involved with the concept idea and development. "You Never Walk Alone", the extension of Wings, also adds another layer, because of the meaning behind the added songs, the added context. In December 2016 the president of South Korea was impeached after years of trial, because of the terrible handling of the Sewol Ferry tragedy (the ferry that sank and drowned hundreds of people, mostly kids, students in a trip) and numerous accounts of corruption. During her term, any artists that so much as spoke about the tragedy were put in a government black list (like the director or Parasite, Bong Joon-ho). Before her impeachment, BTS released Wings, which had the song "Am I Wrong", and although it doesn't immediately connect to the tragedy, there are some really bold lyrics referring to stuff some politicians said about the population, and the song is basically about BTS calling out people who just go along with societal issues without questioning them, or apathy towards injustice. It’s like they’re asking, "Is it really okay to ignore all the wrongs in the world?" and be complicit. It's about waking people up to take a stand and not stay indifferent to injustice, specially the need for awareness and action in face of societal and political problems. Like I said, you don't immediately connect the two points, *but* after her impeachment in 2016, right at the beginning of 2017, they released "You Never Walk Alone", the extension of the album, which had, like I said, 3 more songs, along with the extended version of the Outro. The 3 new songs are Spring Day, Not Today and A supplementary story: You Never Walk Alone. Spring Day is their most beloved song ever, as the music video is a tribute to the Sewol Ferry tragedy (it was confirmed by Jin, that the MV is connected to a tragedy, and the only tragedy it can connect to is the Sewol one), and the song itself is about loss of someone you love and grief (it's not a love song). It's a pop ballad, with some rock influences at the end. The lyrics in Korean are specially beautiful and express greatly the sentiment of "Han"*, because of that, it's the most played song in South Korea ever, and also the song with the most amount of Unique Listeners (number of specific people that listened to a song) in South Korea. It also became sort of a memorial song for the tragedy. Not today, though, is an anthem about resilience, unity, and fighting against adversity. It's about perseverance and standing together. It conveys a message of hope and determination, urging people to keep moving forward no matter how difficult the situation may seem. It also kinda quotes MLK. It's a protest song. And "A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone" is about offering comfort and solidarity. It's about not being alone, even in your darkest moments. It’s hopeful, and about the importance of support and companionship, from friends, loved ones, or the fans. "You Never Walk Alone", the title, was also used as a slogan for the parents movement against the government, as a symbol of solidarity and comfort, regarding the tragedy. The Sewol Tragedy only happened because of negligence and government corruption, the trial took years and it took years until the president was finally impeached, after long protests that moved the entire country. BTS had donated for the families of the victims (in secret, although it was later uncovered after they released YNWA), and they said it was a personal matter for them. The tragedy itself is pretty complicated, and I recommend watching a documentary about it, if you're interested! But in anyway, the extension was clearly in response to this whole thing, and it blended well with the rest of the album. Regarding the songs in Wings, I reckon you'll probably like the solo songs more than the group songs (sound wise), but it's not a problem as long as you get the whole idea for it. The album, Wings, revolves around the concept of growth, self-discovery, and struggles of youth, as well as temptation, all related to growing up. There are some biblical references (only in concept, they're mostly non religious) like the apple, the snake, Eve, good and evil, deal with the devil made with a kiss, fallen angel, *wings* as a metaphor etc etc. The album also took inspiration from the book "Demian" by Herrman Hesse. The solo songs are more introspective of each member, while the group songs encompasses them as young people, so the more socio-political songs are group songs, and knowing BTS and how they have the mentality that it's part of youth and growth to rebel and to fight for your rights, it's really understandable why the added content of You Never Walk Alone was the way it was. This also applies to the sounds: the solo songs are more reflective of them individually, the group songs try to mesh everyone together, while also trying to convey the message of the song itself, so songs about mellow subjects are more mellow, while songs about strong subjects are more in your face. So, Wings/You Never Walk Alone is an album about growth and what comes with growth: temptation, self-discovery, struggles and spirit of change for change. And they utilize the book and biblical themes to portray the concept. The album had a good run of pre promotional content, with short films for each of the solo songs as well, to help portray the concept, and they're really artistic and good. Well that's my pitch for you to do the You Never Walk Alone album lol!
Just noticed I forgot to put the meaning of Han lol ""Han" is a complex emotion in Korean culture. It refers to a feeling of sorrow, regret, frustration, and unresolved grief that stems from personal or collective suffering, yet there's a lingering of hope. It's often seen as a sense of powerlessness or injustice, where emotions are suppressed or unexpressed, yet linger intensely. Han can be experienced due to historical trauma, such as the Korean War, or personal hardships. It’s considered a unique aspect of Korean identity and is often reflected in traditional music, literature, and art."
I don’t understand “the generic pop” thing you keep mentioning. I don’t like pop music that you hear on the radio which I think sounds pretty much the same. Very few of BTS’ songs sounds like that and that is why I love their music so much. I still haven’t heard a song from BTS that I don’t like and that has never happened to me before. I never get tired of them either and that definitely hasn’t happened to me before. I am so shocked by your comments. Do you hear the same as I do? I’m ok with people saying that it’s not their thing but to call it generic pop makes me wonder if you know what they play on the radio.
The first song is pretty immature because it's from their first album. They were just boys. They write lots of very deep lyrics though. I'm gonna be really honest with you.. this was a hard watch. I appreciate your honesty, but I hope you understand it's really difficult for army to hear such constant criticism of our boys. I hope they are kind to you in the comments cuz sometimes they can be brutal.
Didn’t think I was that critical. But in all honesty, if all anyone is looking for is someone to just whoop and holler that everything is amazing without offering any kinda critical thinking, then this channel just isn’t for them. Which is totally okay too, you know?
@markabusireactions lol yep! I just meant don't be surprised if people are mean. I watch a lot of reaction videos and anytime someone doesn't like a BTS song, there are people being awful in the comments. I totally get it if it's not for you. I've watched a bunch of your reactions, and I've seen you not only praise their music, but them as people, and that's most important. If someone doesn't enjoy their music, they should still respect what great people they are.
@kaleighcoutermarsh4922 oh it’s totally fine, I’m used to mean comments haha! This channel isn’t for everyone, but that was a very deliberate choice from the beginning. I e always maintained I’m giving my totally honest opinion, regardless of whether it upsets the fans or not.
Pied Piper live is absolutely amazing. And Born Singer. It was a very early song, the lyrics hit hard, and there is a stage mix that is so good.
I think you will love Jimin’s Lie. He wrote it with no re-writes which blew the members and their company away. I would suggest the lyric and live. Lie is the song that blew ALL musicians away.
I will also suggest Dimple and Pied Piper live performed together.
